o.k.-i know some people do not like to give out candy (i've bought halloween fruit treats in the past for toddlers and also because i can throw them in the kids lunches if we have left overs), but some of the stuff out there is just WIERD!!

my kids each brought home a "trick or treat gift card" (i've seen some before-they were coupons from the local donut shop for a free donut of your choice) but this one is NUTS! it's for the local coffee house/internet cafe: a free childs size COFFEE drink?! :confused3 yes, i am going to take the kiddies down for an espresso-NOT!

any oddball items in your kid's bag?

Not a thing. We only got normal candy, not even a package of milk duds! We do have 50 Hersheys bars!

As I mentioned on another thread, DH took our kids over to our local mall to ToT this year (our neighborhood wasn't in the spirit of things this year  ).

Including the usual candy, they each received a free AOL disk, stickers, and a coupon from a jewelry store for $75 off a purchase of $350 or more.

It remains to be seen if we ToT at the mall again next year or not. :rotfl:

Some one gave out Mary Kay catalogs

Another person gave away dog treats. Yes dog treats

And I didn't think anyone could top the catalogs

Really if you feel need to advertise your business on halloween just give them to the Moms.

Yep, we went to the mall too. My kids got stickers, a necklace, barrettes, pins, pens, and a Thomas Kinkade business card.

I'm sorry, did you say DOG TREATS???? :earseek:

a tube of colgate toothpaste :confused3 I mean really, do they think I don't have toothpaste for my children to brush their teeth after the candy? I thought it was rather insulting and defeats the purpose of TOT.

A can of soda, and a ramen noodle soup thing. WHich, thinking about it later - the soda is kind of an okay idea - yet it weighs down the bag. Ramen Noodles?? Same house, too...

A couple years ago, after my youngest had dumped his bag out, and ran to go potty - my b/f and I added weird stuff on our own - like a can of creamed corn, a tea bag, a spoon..... we couldnt stop laughing at the look on Danny's face.

The strangest item in my kiddos sack yesterday was a cereal bar. Other then that pretty standard fare for our neighborhood, where the smallest item you get is a full size candy bar.

My son pulled out a candy bar and taped to the candy bar was an advertisement (coupon or whatever) for this persons Karate studio. Unbelieveable!!!! :rotfl:

We went to a house that gave out dog treats as well! At first I thought they were those dogbone shaped Scooby Snack graham crackers... but nope, they were baggies of milkbones! I thought it was cute, though I didn't see anyone TOTing with their dog, lol.

I don't think anything can top the dog treats or Mary Kay Catalog...BUT

My 3 year old ds got a coupon for a free week of Jazzersize!! :rotfl2:

yes no need to get your eyes checked. We just don't know if they were telling us to get a dog or come feed theirs. :teeth:

CathrynRose thats too funny :rotfl2: We'll have to remember that for next year. :teeth: :rotfl2:

DS got 2 or 3 VALENTINES DAY lollipops!!

In my IL's neighborhood, a dentist was giving out full sized candy bars with a toothbrush attached.

i had a friend bring home a puppy one year. she wanted one and her parents kept putting it off....she swore she could'nt remember which house she got it at  i think that was the last year they let her go trick or treating :rotfl2:

DS got bubble gum and dental floss from one house, his ORTHODONTIST! He isn't suppose to chew gum with his braces on.

I actually think this is a good idea! Oh well...

I think some stuff comes out if you run out of candy. I remember when I was growing up my mom reached for her change purse. The girl that sits next to me at work said that someone wrote her a $5.00 check once...
