Were they trying to tell you something? :rotfl:
Only wish I had the extra to lose...unfortunately I can never gain an ounce----maybe they figure if I join I will gain some "curves"...could use them in some areas that's for sure! :teeth:

My girls got a few packages of SOY SAUCE last night, we didn't know who ir what house gave it out, it might be a joke from some teen, who knows!

Where does the name Chick Tract come from? IT doesn't go with what it is. I thought it would be some sort of candy :rotfl:

That's funny! :teeth: I think the last name of the guy that started them is Chick.

Every yr we get a religious Jesus pamphlet in our candy bags. Ok, in my kids candy bags. It really irks me. if they do not like Halloween, then dont pass out anything. I find this rude to shove those in innocent kids candy bags/buckets.This year they got a pamphlet and also a business card with a churchs address on it.

In our household, we particpate in TOT and fall festivals, we decorate our house with jack o lanterns, and get a kick out scaring each other.
Every year we have always passed out tracts with the our candy. Usually we put bags together with the tract and several pieces of candy. We get our tracts at our local church bookstore. Every year I let the kids pick out one for the girls and one for the boys. My dd has always thought they were so cool and gets very excited to pick out the ones she wants to hand out that year. This year we got Bibleman and one with a fish that looks like Nemo on it. The ones that I have always bought would be like something they pick up at a local VBS.
I have to say....just because I pass out kids tracts doesn't mean we don't like Halloween. Also, when you go door to door asking for "treats" you are at the mercy of what they want to give you.

I am baffled about the popcorn. Apparently one of the children that DS was TOTing with expressed his disapproval of a bag of microwave popcorn they received at one house (after they had left the house). I am so glad that my children didn't say anything. I think the popcorn idea is just fine! DH told me that as children he knew that kids just tossed the unwanted stuff on the ground.... well, as it happens we have found three of the popcorn packages just this morning at the bus stop!! Apparently it wasn't a big hit around here.

But what really bugs me is how rude it is for the children to just toss it out! Wasteful AND littering.... two thinks that really peeve me!.................P

How rude! If they go to a door asking for treats, they shouldn't be picky.

My girls got popcorn also, and gold fish, pencils, erasers, and they were so happy with everything they got. Well, except the soy sauce! It was just funny.

:rotfl: At least you're not overweight and then wondered if the Curves coupon was given to everyone. "Hey, Phyllis, we have a large one walking up the sidewalk...give me the treat with the Curves coupon attached". :rotfl2:

You have every right to pass out whatever you like... I've recieved some very nice ones over the years..They may not be things I'm interrested in,but there is nothing wrong with them..The Chick Tracts,I think are horrible though.
These were passed out with no candy and theyare definately against Halloween

DS received a jump rope. Great idea. He's been using it all evening.

DS got a toothbrush and DD got a certificate for a free session for me to go to Curves(ladies fitness club)

Probably from a Dentist. :teeth:

My dentist does that, he pass out toohtbrushes and toothpaste, along with crackers and popcorn, but no candy!

Well one of the ds got a cd that was unmarked, when he played it at home it was 4 christian songs. we really dont mind because we like them. His friend got christina aqualiara (sorry, about that spelling) and my other ds they didnt give one to. They didnt know this family at all.

I too give out the tracts plus candy. Only one boy refused to take it. I dont force it on anyone. I just have a little table and the candy is on top of the paper so they just scoop up the pile of what they have chosen.

Also a very sad thing happened with ds and his friends. He said a lady refused to give one of his friends candy and he thinks it was because of his race. I asked him if he remembered what house it was but he said he didnt. They all didnt have costumes on and only his friend of a different race was not given the candy.

My neighbor went online and bought the cutest mini yo-yo's. They are orange, with a pumpkin smiley face. She also handed out small orange super-balls... the really bouncy ones! They were a hit! I thought it was very cute, not the usual candy.

Every year I get little bags of Goldfish to give out in case parents don't want their little kids to get candy but then my friend pointed out that they wouldn't really be out trick-or-treating if they didn't want them to have candy. That's so true!

Actually I know a lot of people who throw away or eat their childrens candy. some will let the kids pick a piece or 2 and throw it away. One buys the candy from her kids, keeps the chocolate for herself and throws the rest out.
another says whe throws out anything left after 3 days.

I just could not do this on so many levels. We usually make certain the kids eat the chocolate etc first. Hard candy is saved for last and will usually still be around by Xmas. Then we will throw out what ever they don't want. By Valentines I figure they've eat what they want and will throw what if anything is left.

OMG... just read that chick tract....... It is so full of lies and misinformation.

Last year I had the goldfish packs on the same tray as the candy and lots of kids CHOSE them over the candy. So, I guess it was okay. Besides, if they don't get taken I have lunch snacks for my kids for a few weeks.

I think other things are a great idea. I let DS go for the fun of it, not the candy. I don't throw his away. Well, actually i do when it gets old. He's not a big candy eater. He had a few peices on halloween and didn't even ask for any last night. If he asks, I'll let him have 1 peice after dinner, but if he doesn't ask, I certainly don't remind him. I'd much rather him have goldfish. And honestly? He'd probably prefer it too. His favorite treat was an apple from his aunt/uncle. He asked for another! :teeth:

I wish people would stop giving these religious pamplets out. It's your own personal belief, don't force it on my child. I don't need you to tell my son he's a sinner on what's supposed to be a fun night.

When I was a kid, some things I received were:
-pennies
-fresh popcorn balls
-cupcakes(always had to eat them on the spot because I couldn't throw them in the bag)

My kids two years ago received lots of religious anti Halloween brochures

This year they received
-gift certificates to Wendys
-glow in the dark necklaces
-cans of pop
-full size candy bars
-regular candy
-pencils

****The Mary Kay brochure and dog bisquits are cracking me up***
