STRANGE/WIERD/UNIQUE "TREATS" YOUR KIDS GOT

I'm sure parents hate us. We give candy and toys but always include spiders, ants, bugs or snakes too. This year we have glow in the dark ants and spiders.

OH! I just remembered one! There was a lady in a cast sitting on her porch (adult beverage close by) giving out candy.

Me and DS (8) came up to her, and lady looks in her bowl, where leaves have fallen in. She jokingly says, "Here you go, have a leaf."

My son solemly takes the leaf and puts it in his pumpkin.
Lady finds another, "here, you can have this one too!"
Son puts it in his pumpkin.
Lady says, "here! have some candy too!"
Son takes the candy, puts it in his pumpkin, thanks the lady, and off we went.

So, for weirdest thing, 2 leaves.

My son pulled out a candy bar and taped to the candy bar was an advertisement (coupon or whatever) for this persons Karate studio. Unbelieveable!!!! :rotfl:

If the advertisment was for a place that did karate classes for kids then I think that's actually pretty enterprising of the guy who stuck that on the candy bar! Very clever advertising!

I don't think anything can top the dog treats or Mary Kay Catalog...

I don't know about that. ON the radio this morning they had people calling in weird things that they got and the weirdest one was a girl that said that they were given HAIR BRUSHES! Yes, hair brushes. the DJ asked if it was used. She said hers wasn't, but her friends was :scared1:

Others included candy canes and easter candy.

My children receivd coupons for carpet cleaning but they were packaged very nicely in a baggie with tons of candy. My son also received a package of hot cocoa mix.

We stuck to our neighbourhood here on base and got a few odd things. There are crackers from Japan, some German candy (all the words are german so I have to ask my neighbour what the heck it is LOL), some of those "repent now or you will go to h-e double hockey sticks" flyers w/ a tootsie pop attached, and DH about died when he saw that someone was giving out the candy they stick in MREs LOL. On a positive note, he only took the girls down 3 streets and both buckets were full, DH was pulling candy out of his coat pockets, his cargo pant pockets, and the girls' jacket pockets LOL.

Well, I guess we got the mother-load of weird stuff! My kids each got an unwrapped toothbrush (non-used, still GROSS), a can of Coke, and a CD.--all from different houses. The CD is by a local group. I told them I would have to listen to it first to see if it was appropriate for them. So far, just by looking at the liner notes, I'm thinking NO WAY!

One of my kids got what looks to be a chocolate wrapped in a body organ wrap. I had to really look at it because it looked so real. Gross.

I don't have kids, but when I was little I got:

Religious pamplets. - How this Halloween should be my last. Um... I think I was 8 years old. Honestly, if you feel this way just don't answer the door.

A box of mini-tot staples. The box was about the size of of a Kit-Kat bar, and it was orange also... I think it accidentally got thrown in the candy bowl cuz the friends I was with didn't get them. :confused3

I always thought it was weird to get popcorn balls.

My dad always gave out gift certificates for McDonald's ice cream cones. We lived in the country and didn't get many kids, so if no one came at least we didn't have a bunch of candy laying around. The coupons were good all year.

We are very lucky to live in a neighborhood with great Halloween participation. Many homes were decorated and hundreds of kids of all ages were out trick or treating last night. My kids mostly got the normal good kinds of Halloween candy, but they did get a few unusual things. They got pencils, chips, and some disgusting stale Chinese candy. The weirdest thing, I thought, was a heart sticker that said Jesus on it. Not quite sure what that has do with Halloween!Their favorite things were packages of microwave popcorn, Nerds ropes, and full size candy bars.

I guess the "oddest" thing would be a religous pamplet. One house gave each child ONE (yes, 1) small tootsie roll. And one house gave each child a popcorn ball - I haven't seen those in years.

A kid came to my house last night playing with a mini etch-a-sketch he got at another house. I thought that was really cute.

When I was young, I remember receiving a really small sack with cigarette butts in it from a house in another neighborhood. :crazy2: I was totally grossed out. I remember my mother wanting to find the folks who gave this to me but I don't think she ever did.

One of our neighbors works for Nestle. He and his wife were scooping out Edy's ice cream! Was a really cool idea, and a BIG hit in the neighborhood! They also gave out coupons for it! ;) Good thing it was a pretty warm night!

YES, that's exactly what it was but I personally feel that doing that on Halloween to kids trick or treating is wrong! Sorry! That's just the way I feel about it.

My kids made out like bandits last night. The oddest thing they got was a wrapped biscotti cookie. The people had run out of candy and raided their pantry for more goodies.

Gee and I was worried the mini bags of popcorn I gave out with the candy and gum was going to be thought of as weird, guess not.

Every yr we get a religious Jesus pamphlet in our candy bags. Ok, in my kids candy bags. It really irks me. if they do not like Halloween, then dont pass out anything. I find this rude to shove those in innocent kids candy bags/buckets.This year they got a pamphlet and also a business card with a churchs address on it.

One family had a bowl of "Runts" (kind of like Nerds) and spooned out a handful to each trick or treater. My son thought that was pretty neat. They also gave a bag of some candy. They were Indian, so maybe the bowl of little candies are cultural (like in an Indian restaurant). My thought was "germs", but they didn't let the kids reach in and grab so I guess it's not as bad as a lot of things.

A couple years ago, after my youngest had dumped his bag out, and ran to go potty - my b/f and I added weird stuff on our own - like a can of creamed corn, a tea bag, a spoon..... we couldnt stop laughing at the look on Danny's face.

:rotfl2: Love it!
