Strange Summer AP Rate Pricing

Hi everyone! I just wanted to share the strangest glitch in the WDW resort pricing. We have APs and my DD is going away for a swimming training trip, so we are going to WDW while she's away. I grabbed a room at All Star Sports for 5 days starting Sat 7/11. I called and was able to book for about $665 with the AP rate. I asked for a per-day breakdown and I was told the first night was $158 (rack rate!) and the other 4 were $106. Hmmm ... OK. I had been online and it was not available for my days so I grabbed it.

I then began to mess around with pricing online and ASSp showed up for 7/11 for $126 per night which is the AP discount. Well, then! That's $36 less with tax. I added a day to the reservation and it showed $126 for the first day and $106 for the next day. BUT, once I added all 4 extra days it popped back to $158 + 4 days at $106. I then looked at 4 days starting on 7/12 and I got $106 per day for all 4 days.

I ended up booking one night at $126 and then canceling the first day on my other reservation. I know that I'll probably have to check back in the next day. That's not a big deal for me to save $36.

That was happening to me for our trip earlier this month at the Poly. If I booked certain dates the rate was $304 a night, but if I booked a different set of dates some of the nights weren't discounted and some were. It was Fri & Sat nights that weren't getting discounted.

What was particularly odd is that the Saturday night was discounted when it was on it's own or with 3 more days. Once I added the 5th day it wasn't discounted any longer :rolleyes1.

That is EXACTLY what was happening! It was so weird. I ended up booking one more night than I needed then called to have the extra night removed. The CM didn't want to do it, but I sat on hold for 20 minutes after asking to speak with a supervisor. They removed the night as a one time courtesy. I don't like their new modification policy.

I had the same thing happen as well. I saw a cabin at the Fort for 3 nights at a nice Passholder rate. We decided to add an extra night before we booked and the pricing for the first 2 nights jumped. What worked for me is that I booked the first 3 nights, made my deposit, etc. I then modified the booking online by adding the 4th night and the rate on the first 2 nights did not change. It was very strange but it worked.

Yes I noticed the same/similar occurrences.

Seems prices vary by day and day combinations, and by the day you check prices. It really can vary!!

I had a reservation at Poly with a good rate but not the room type I wanted. Checking several weeks later I was able to book a new reservation and get all but 1 night with the room type I wanted. Was considering booking that 1 night with a more expensive room type. It was $608 on Weds. night. I decided not to book it. Checked again Thurs. morning and that room was then $556. Better but still too much :yo-yo:

Checked YC for late June, $269.75 garden or woods today, was $321.75 in May when I booked BC @ $339.75 garden or woods. BC isn't available today.

I'm more inclined to think its a brilliant pricing program rather than a glitch. :flower:
Sure can make you crazy tho!
