strange issue with my phone

I was talking to a friend of mine in CA--
after half way through our call I started getting beeps on my phone like when you put in phone number
every so often this would happen
I checked my screen and there were about 10 digits and I few number symbols

all the numbers were 3 6 9 with a few # symbols all random
i asked my friend is she heard anything and she said no

I felt like I was in the twilight zone

any ideas on what this could be

It's possible, if your screen was on the keypad, that the screen touching your cheek as you talk/move will recognize it as an input.

I’m sorry I forgot to mention that it still happened even when I didn’t have it by my ear. I had my phone on speaker
I felt like I was getting a secret code from somewhere

The fact that numbers appeared on the screen meant the phone thought there was input from something. If there were water droplets from something, that could do it. If the phone was cracked, there could be something causing the phone to sense an input (even though there wasn't one).

First step is to reboot the phone. If it continues to happen while on speaker phone, there's something wrong with your phone. You weren't getting a "secret code", and you weren't the in the twilight zone.
