I'm looking for some feedback from people who have had dinner at Norway for the storybook princess dinner. It is the only princess meal I could get a reservation for. The menu for dinner for the adults looks like it has some strange choices. Any opinions?? Do the characters mingle a lot and spend time with the kids? I have two girls, 3.5 and 2 years old.

The character interaction was good, but no one in my family enjoyed the food. We won't do it again. Honestly, I think I'd plan on going to the ToonTown tent right when it opens & see the princesses that way if I couldn't get a different princess meal.

We took our 2 yr old daughter and were very disappointed. I wouldn't say the food is strange, just different. It is Norweigan cuisine. My husband will eat pretty much anything and even he was unhappy with the meal. Our favorite princess interaction meal was with Cinderella at 1900 Park Fare for dinner. The food was also very good...the best buffet we had while we were at WDW.

;) I'm the oddball here.
We love Akershus and have eaten there three times. The choices are different but, even my extremely picky husband found something he liked. They will also make anything off the childrens menu into an adult meal, which he did last September.
The dessert tray is awesome. My favorite part of the meal.
The Princesses are great. We have been pleased with the interaction each time. We have one ADR for our upcoming trip this December. You guessed it, it is at Akershus.

That's great to hear. I keep hearing how the food is odd, weird, strange, and gross. I was so bummed out to hear those things. My family loves to try new foods from around the world anyway so when I told them what is was we were pretty excited actually. This gives me some hope. ;)

Thanks. :lovestruc

The breakfast is traditional (non-Norwegian food). We chose to go for breakfast for that reason. The interaction was OK IMO. If I had realized that we could get in to see the princesses so easily at Toontown we might not have gone to Akershus. (Although, it was the only place we saw Mulan)

I ordered off of the kids menu and my children and I all ate pizza LOL. My hubby will eat anything and he hated their food. The only thing he would try was the salmon sandwich or something? I dont know.... We loved the character interaction and the free picture LOL but that was about it... no that was it.

I agree, it is much "safer". But I had heard that they were revamping the menu, because they were getting negative feedback about the diner/lunch.

well its Norway, you are eating norwegian food. so yeah its different than the fair you normally eat, but i guess thats the point?
i havent eaten there. my daughter is no longer of the princess age, she grew out of it around the age of 6, but i dont think i would eat there just to see the princesses. they are accessable elsewhere. i would only eat there if the food apealed to me.

I loved eating at Akershus! My entire family loved it as well. My Mom has some dietary restrictions and the chef made her a custom dinner that was the best of the entire trip! Now, with that being, said our server mentioned that a lot of the adults who go there order off of the children's menu. If you are concerned you could always do that.

We loved the food. It was the only place in the park that we found that had decent Salmon (it was sooo good). DD (at the time 4) loved the cold buffet, shrimp, cheese, lunch meats. Her eating something besides chicken nuggets made the resturant worth it.
We found the interaction to be mixed. Ariel was amazing, but the other's were less happy, and Sleeping Beauty was goofing off out of character in the alcove.
I hope they don't change the menu. At least not until we go back:rolleyes1

We loved the menu! My DD5 discovered this cold salad made with squid and mussels and she loved it! We found a similar salad locally and now we buy it regularly because she likes it so much.
They have cold cuts and cheeses, smoked fish, green salads, breads and crackers, other cold salads, shrimp, and more. It was yummy! Besides the buffet (smorgasbord) they do have a menu you can order from. Like the PPs have said- you can also order off the children's menu.
It's Norway! You can't really expect the same fried foods you get everywhere else??? Try something new- you might just like it!

The character interaction was good, and I thought the meal was ok. DD was too busy twisting and turning watching the princesses to eat, but DH got violently ill after lunch. He actually ended up going back to the hotel until late that evening and only coming back to Epcot for the fireworks. The only thing he ate different from me was off the buffet there so we thought that it might be the culprit. :confused3 Not sure, but he's not willing to risk it again. DD loved the princess interaction though, especially meeting Alice and her entrance picture with Belle.

We at Askerhus with our DD2, and we loved it. We made reservations because we wanted to see Ariel. I looked at the menu before we ate there and thought the food looked "okay" and the appetizer buffet was just not something I was interested in. But I was pleasantly surprised that I was able to make a BIG salad and my DD ate fruit salad from the buffet. Like I said, my DD is 2 so she actually got a free infant meal. It was Mickey Shaped ravioli and a meatball.
I thought the princesses were great. Don't forget you get a photo package now with the meal which is an added bonus!
Like the OP said, you can easily see the princesses at the ToonTown tents but be prepared to wait. We waited in line to see if Snow White was there (she wasn't) and it took us about an hour to get through the line. When you are at Disney with kids that age, time is money! So if you can combine seeing the princesses and eating it's worth it!

We're Swedish and my dad grew up eating Swedish food (similar to Norwegian), but we still didn't care for the food at Akershus. We definitely wouldn't do it again. I was also disappointed in the character interaction - they flew past our table pretty fast, and made little attempt to engage my 5yo DS (who had requested that meal).

Thanks for this post! I was really disappointed that we were not going to Epcot this trip when we go in October. DD4 is very into princesses and I thought this would have been the perfect thing for her. But now, I'm not as disappointed LOL! We're definitely not a "strange food" family.

We booked 1900 Park Fare for dinner one evening, we'll hit the Toon Town tent before MNSSHP one evening.....and we'll look for Snow White and the 7 Dwarves all together at the party. That should give my DD her princess fix, right? LOL!

I am not aware of the free pictures??? How does that work?

We won't go again. We were expecting strange food, but we mainly ate meet slices and cheese cubes. Even the desert was wierd. The princess interaction was okay, they spent enough time to say hello, sign autographs and take pictures. We paid more here than we did in cindy's castle... hardly worth it for cheese and meat. Not our cup of tea, to say the least.

We took our DD last year and we thought the character interaction was great. We were worried about the food as well, and were surprised. The deserts were good, and although we didn't hate the food, we thought it was o.k. If your on the dining plan I would do it at least once, it's a great experience if you have a little princess of your own.
