I named my son Jerry Michael, . His full initials are JME and his nickname is Jamie because when you pronounce his initials, you get J-ME. I had to make up a nickname or my husband's family would have made up one that I didn't like. All kids that are named after their fathers are given nickname to make it easier to sort them out from their fathers. My husband is known as Juggy -- had a jughead when he was little. THe main reason that I let my firstborn be named after his Dad is so that I could have complete LEEWAY with all the other kids. Plus he is a third and I wanted to call him "Third" That idea was shot down immediately. Ooooh I can't wait. I have made lists of baby names since I was little. Here are some of my choices:
Girl Names
Ahseya -- (My name backwards - Ayesha, but only of the baby looks like me/baby pic of me at birth. She will be my mirror image. Get it!) Husband may balk at this!
Jaya -- (Combo of Jerry and Ayesha) Pronounced Jy-ya
Reagan (I like it)
Avery Kidada -- Quincy Jones and Peggy Lipton's daughter's name (Kidada)
Micah (similar to Michael)
Soledad
Aiden
Kaden
Ryan
Mahalia (Husband hates this name. But Mahalia Jackson was such a strong black woman. Who can forget her after seeing Imitation of Life. Plus she wont run into anyone with her name!!
Boys Names
Kolby
Ahmad
Khalil
Landon (family name)
My goal is to have a unique name that isn't too outlandish. I never thought that I would have a "Jamie". Life is interesting. I can't wait to see what I may have next. Did I mention that hubbie says "I'm happy with only one child." What the H@!*?
Love Ya, Mean It,
Ayesha Kamice
(Arabic meaning -- not dead, living, to prosper) Kamice (Dad says he read Kamice in a book, book not located at this date-- 29 years later

) ,
sister to Shanika Dawn (named Shanika before it was bas-tard-ized into Shanequas and Shaniques and Shaneekas. Sometimes my sister goes by S. Dawn and wonders why she was lucky

enough to be named Shanika. My parents were really into the whole Civil Rights/Co-Op Movement)
sister to Akinyele (Swahili for valor of the house) no middle name, parents thought first name was enough. Loves his name.
daughter to Alfred X (yeah, like Malcolm)
daughter to Edna Patricia (can you get any plainer)
Yeah, I am fascinated with names!!!
