I decided not to buy DCL insurance but to shop 3rd party insurers.
Going to InsureMyTrip.com, I found Travelex to have the most competitive rates. I had put down only the cost and dates of the cruise portion of our trip hoping to save money, and received a quote of $95. (4-day cruise for family of 4, 5 travel days).
Just to see how much more it would cost, I requoted using our complete trip dates (10 days) and the cost of cruise plus airline. It came back exactly the same!! I was sure something was wrong and called the number InsureMyTrip.com provides. They said that Travelex policy includes children under 16 for free, and that's why it was inexpensive. I had also entered the same info directly at the Travelex site -- their direct quote was $155.
Of course I went with the quote from InsureMyTrip.com, got an actual confirmation and certificate and everything. Does anyone have experience with Travelex? Apparently they are a major supplier of travel services based in London.
