Stove Top stuffing?

I was wondering if this is any good? I haven't tried it before but I see lots of people buying it, and this Thanksgiving I am looking for short cuts because we are leaving the next day for our trip and I don't want to start the trip tired.
Last year I followed a good stuffing recipe I had but I did everything from scratch, make the cornbread first, then add everything, bake, etc. It wasn't hard, just time consuming. So I was toying with the idea of a boxed version. Any ideas? :confused3

I personally find stove top tastes gross but if you are in a pinch you can buy Arnold bagged stuffing you can buy the seasoned kind and just add water and butter or the unseasoned and add turkey broth, spices, onions and /or whatever else you add to your stuffing it really saves time and is much better than Stove Top IMO

I think I will go with the cornbread version and doctor it up a bit. My mom suggested some of the same things ya'll did. Using chicken broth instead of water and adding more celery, walnuts, diced apples, etc. Make sure everyone drowns it in gravy and your good to go!! :rotfl:

;)

By the time you do all that you might as well of make it yourself! I think stove top is okay during the year but NEVER for Thanksgiving! I can't believe anyone eats it for Thanksgiving. That's like buying one of those Jenny O prefab turkey rolls instead of a real turkey! LOL!

I second the vote for the Bell's stuffing mix. Taste more like homemade. I hate the Stove Top at Thanksgiving. That is what we have at in-laws. I just pass on it, why waste calories on something that doesnt taste good.

OMGOSH! I got a TAG from this thread!!!!

hahaha. Of all the stupid things I've said... who'da thunk it would be the Stove Top comment that made it? :rotfl2:

I realize why I like the simplicity of Stove Top....it is a deep rooted emotional issue starting from when I was younger.............

Thanksgiving morning..........my dad would be up early cleaning out the Turkey and then I would see him cutting up the liver? giblets? :earseek: I don't know.... :confused3 But it was some part of the turkey I wanted NOTHING to do with!
and then I remember seeing him cutting up the turkey neck....these parts would go into the stuffing...............OMG!!!WTH???!?!?!? This was too awful to believe!!! I never ate their stuffing.............I wanted nothing to do with stuffing because I never new what the person (in-laws...etc.) were putting IN the stuffing!!! :confused3
So, when Stove Top came into the stores (when DID it come into the stores)...
that is all I would eat. Nice and simple. Breadcrumbs and seasoning.
:rotfl2: :cool1: :goodvibes :rotfl: :rotfl2:  Well, I feel a little better getting that off my shoulders............ :grouphug:

My Dad used to cut up the insides and fry them, dice them and put them in the stuffing...I would not touch his stuffing with a ten foot pole! He was not too happy with me when he found out that I ate Stovetop, but wouldn't eat his homemade. (the thought of eating a turkeys innards just grosses me out)

:rotfl2: I saw that on your name and I thought "Hmmmm, was there another thread about stove top some time that I missed." I thought you got it from another thread not this one. That's great!!! Congrats! :cheer2:

I like to mix it up with extra turkey broth (about 1/2 ro 3/4 cup) and bake it in the oven for 20 minutes or so. It is most moist and tastes more like homemade.

You can add nuts (I like almonds) and even raisins.

Tag me, tag me, I use my Stove Top coupons!

Okay, and if someone doesn't like it I can say "Well, the tag fairy likes it so there!!" ;) Can't argue with that, although my relatives my decide I've lost my mind since they will have no clue what a tag fairy is! :goodvibes

Oddly enough, I remember disliking stuffing when I was younger. However, my mom used stove stop one year I have been in love with the stuff ever since. I just bought my stove stop for Thanksgiving yesterday.

I still think stove top is gross but I'm glad some people got tags out of it. At least stove top is good for something.

Ok, I think it might be time to go to bed. I read this post as "DISliking" and I was like hmmm.. wonder what that means.
