Stove Top stuffing?

I could never use it for Thanksgiving, but for a quick dinner it is nice!

Wait, that's a lie.

One thanksgiving when my DH (boyfriend at the time) and I were in university, we both had an exam the next day that we needed to study for. Thanksgiving consisted of Stovetop stuffing, instant mashed potatoes, and a grilled chicken breast. To be honest, it wasn't that bad a meal!

Stove Top is good and ridiculously easy. And like Suzanne said, Pepperidge Farm is good too but requires a little more work.

i love stove top stuffing, for regular dinners year round and even holidays. for thanksgiving i used to make my own stuffing until i decided that "tweaked" stove top was even better, and everyone agreed with me! i just add in some finely diced and sauteed onion and mushrooms, a bit of garlic, and a few shakes of thyme, sage and whatever else comes to mind. oh, and instead of water, i use low-sodium chicken broth. always turns out perfect. then again, i'm a stove top fanatic, i eat the stuff dry out of the canister with a spoon as a snack, lol. :)

I prefer Stove Top over homemade.
Plus it's easier to make.

Bought 4 boxes at Kroger yesterday.

I love Stove Top and I also add a tiny bit of sausage to it (the Walmart brand, yes I shop there). It always turns out excellent. My family loves it and in fact, my mom actually asked for my stuffing "recipe" this year, even though it about killed her to ask me for it!! Stove Top just can't miss. It is excellent.

We like stove top- but prefer homemade for Thanksgiving. Bell's (the poultry seasoning people) make a boxed stuffing that is very good and close to homemade. You do have to sautee some onions in butter and add that, but it's pretty quick and simple. I'd do that instead of stove top if I wasn't going to make homemade.

I realize why I like the simplicity of Stove Top....it is a deep rooted emotional issue starting from when I was younger.............

Thanksgiving morning..........my dad would be up early cleaning out the Turkey and then I would see him cutting up the liver? giblets? :earseek: I don't know.... :confused3 But it was some part of the turkey I wanted NOTHING to do with!
and then I remember seeing him cutting up the turkey neck....these parts would go into the stuffing...............OMG!!!WTH???!?!?!? This was too awful to believe!!! I never ate their stuffing.............I wanted nothing to do with stuffing because I never new what the person (in-laws...etc.) were putting IN the stuffing!!! :confused3
So, when Stove Top came into the stores (when DID it come into the stores)...
that is all I would eat. Nice and simple. Breadcrumbs and seasoning.
:rotfl2: :cool1: :goodvibes :rotfl: :rotfl2:  Well, I feel a little better getting that off my shoulders............ :grouphug:

I love Stove Top.... with my mom's homemade gravy! Yum.

I call it the lazy lazy version of stuffing. It tastes very good and the prep. time is 1 minute.

homemade at mom's, stuff-n-puff at the in-law's...if you don't have anything nice to say.... just joking! I like them both, but they are not even close to being the same if that's what you're asking?

I hate stove top stuffing. DH loves it, but it makes him gassy :earseek: . I would never use it for Thanksgiving dinner, but I cook it for DH sometimes during the week.

I way prefer Stove Top over homemade! I have never eaten a homemade stuffing that I care for to be honest...and it is cheap and super easy to make!
We will have it for Thanksgiving...but we eat it throughout the year as a quick sidedish too.

I like cornbread or the chicken flavored one.

we are used to homemade stuffing and think stove top is gross. We will not eat it. I would rather skip stuffing than eat it.
I'm sorry but I have to second this opinion! Stove Top has always made me sick to my stomach! :guilty:

DH and I love Stove Top. We eat it as a side dish year-round. I prefer my mom's homemade stuffing for Thanksgiving, but otherwise we like Stove Top. Our favorite is the low-sodium chicken flavor.

Hmmmm, never thought I'd get three pages of replies over a question about stove top stuffing! :rotfl:

I've read all the replies, and most people seem to like it or at least say it's okay in a pinch, which is what I'm in. Not as good as homemade but good enough, huh?

I think I will go with the cornbread version and doctor it up a bit. My mom suggested some of the same things ya'll did. Using chicken broth instead of water and adding more celery, walnuts, diced apples, etc. Make sure everyone drowns it in gravy and your good to go!! :rotfl:

This will have to do this year, next I'll go back to homemade. Unless everyone decides they like this better. Hmmmm...... I'm not sure if I would feel insulted or not! :goodvibes ;)

I use it but doctor it up a bit. Add some chopped onions and celery sauteed and sometime chopped walnuts.
