stove gridlle in middle

I've seen those. That griddle thing seems awfully small IMHO.

If having a griddle is important - why not get a nice "double-burner" griddle.

We've had a calphalon one, that is now probably about 15 years old and LOVE it.

Yes, we do. Viking 36"...is there something in specific you wanted to know about them?

I have a 60" range with 6 burners & a grill/griddle in the middle. We don't use it all that much - it's not easy to clean - I use my double burner griddle from Target! We never use the grill - that is a major pain to clean & the grease splatters everywhere on the stainless steel.

Yes, I do. I have a 5 burner GE Cafe stove/oven. The 5th burner larger and oval and sits in the middle of the stove top. It came with a non-stick removable griddle top. It is a nice option and I love it for pancakes, grilled cheese, bacon, etc.

Have one, never used it. The griddle is cast iron and I think it would be a pain to clean. To me is is just a waste of space.

Incredibly jealous! We remodeled our kitchen a couple years ago and my biggest regret is that we didn't allow for an over-sized range. While I would never have had enough room for a 60" one, I regret not going bigger.

We had one, never used it. It took too long to heat up, was too small, and it was so much easier to just use our electric griddle.

We have a GE range with the middle 5th oblong burner that has an interchangeable griddle. Used it twice and never will again. It's way too small. We've now bought a rectangle griddle that sits atop two burners and it's great because it's o much bigger!! And it's a lot easier to clean than the one that came with the range.

I also have the GE gas range with a middle griddle. I use it quite often for grilled cheese.

karenos;)

My mom's got a 60" GE with a griddle in the middle. She uses it when she cooks pancakes and that's about it. I think she got the griddle because it was the only model available in a 60" stove. (My mom tried to downsize once. I wound up with a brand new stove and she wound up with another oversized range! :rotfl2: She is talking about getting a new stove; my brother has now officially put off buying a stove for 2 years. . .:rolleyes1)

I have a 48 inch Capital Range with a steel griddle in the middle. I use it at least twice a week and it is not difficult to clean at all. I've had it about a year and it must be "seasoned" or something because it is completely non-stick with no need to use any products. To clean, I just wait for it to cool and then spritz with Windex vinegar spray and wipe down, then again with water.

As others have said, what do you want to know?

I was wondering if you use it enough to warant. Though the cost of the unit I am looking at seems not to different wit or without. Was looking at the Frigidare Galley unit. It comes with that and a convection oven.

We use ours about once a month. We wanted the 36" range for the size of the oven. I had the choice of the grill or the griddle. Obviously we chose the griddle as we had heard the same thing another poster noted about the grill...grease splatter all over the place and the smell lingering in the house.

If I were trying to choose whether to get on or not with the size of the range not in the equation then I wouldn't have gotten it. I would have just gotten the 30" range.

It looks cool, but is a pain to clean and you will need a cover for it IMO. We needed to go back a few months after we bought it as the griddle seasons to a dark brown griddle top and really doesn't look good.

LOL!!!

I do use all the burners & both ovens, but just not the griddle or grill, they're too messy!

I call it my piece of art in the kitchen!

Some additional comments -

Doesn't the griddle come with a cover? Mine did, which covers it when it is not in use, and can also cover while it is in use to add extra top heat when doing a sandwich, etc.

Although mine seems to have seasoned itself, it is not brown and yucky - it is still the same steel color as when it arrived.

Also, I have little to no splatter - I make pancakes, french toast, eggs, hashbrowns, grilled cheese and other toasted sandwiches. I also use it as a simmer or keep warm plate when I have a lot going on on the range.

Bad or lingering smell - I would think anyone considering a pro or pro-style range also has to consider the ventilation system. I have a 1200 cfm blower that extends several inches over the edge footprint of my range. Vaporized grease and smells are immediately sucked out.

OP, hope this helps your decision!

Sounds like you may be referring to my post....on our unit the griddle cover did not come with the range and was additional.

Bad or lingering smell and grease splatter referred to the GRILL not griddle... we also have a double blower Vent-a-Hood blower.

Maybe I don't clean mine correctly, but it looks like a seasoned cast iron pan, dark brown. Since I also use some cast iron pans, it didn't appear out of normal for me.

How do you keep yours clean like that? Is it cast iron?

Mine is also cast iron & looks filthy! I keep the stainless steel cover on it at all times. The ventilation system - don't even get me started! Our township made us put a professional ventilation & exhaust system in when we installed the range. They also pushed for a sprinkler system for the house. I had to fight against that one - they were saying the 60" Wolf range was a professional range, not residential. I had to get the Wolf rep to write a statement to the township saying it was a residential unit, not professional. So not only was the range itself mega $$, the ventilation system was a ton too. I do love my range but if & when it goes, I will replace it with a much cheaper alternative!

Mine is a half inch thick steel plate with an 18k burner underneath. All I do to clean is spritz on some windex vinegar spray when it is cool, wait about 15 minutes, and wipe in the direction of the grain - little to nothing sticks from the cooking process, and what comes up on the paper towel is just some wet brown residue. After a couple of wipes, I wipe again with a papertowel wet with water (mainly to get any cleaner residue) and I'm done.

It does shock me, because my mother has a Viking with a griddle and she also never uses it because she hates cleaning it. I expected mine to be a bear but it has been super easy.

I'm glad mine came with a cover - what a pain to have to get that extra! I know you can also get a cutting board insert to go over mine, but that IS extra and I don't have it.

Hope this helps -

Jane
