which do you perfer ? will we see more characters at one over the other ?
I hear we might see some of the 'rarer " characters at storytellers ?

who have you seen there ? :cheer2:

At Storytellers we were most excited to see Brer Bear and Terk from Tarzan. Storytellers also has top quality food and you can either order from the menu or use the buffet. Their coffee and OJ were as fab as the food! We've peeked at Goofy's, but didn't eat there.

Do you have children? Ours liked Goofy's Kitchen over Storytellers, as they were the familiar characters. Also, we had a late brunch, and had lunch/dinner type foods at the buffet (weren't limited to breakfast selections).

All of the character meals are ALWAYS random. Nobody will ever have a chance to know what characters are there until it has begun. The exception is the character for whom the meal is named. Goofy at DLH, Minnie in the park, Chip and Dale for Storytellers, Ariel at the Grotto, etc. I think it depends in part on what characters are in the park that day. Some are busy doing photo shoots in Hollywood, etc. We've seen Rafiki at Minnies, and others have seen him at Storytellers. We saw Brer Bear at Storytellers but Brer Fox at Minnies. There's a lot of flip-flopping.

If you just missed a character you wanted, you can tell the handler and they will be sure that character comes back for you.

Costumes?? I thought they were real... Lol lol had to giggle!!

If we have little ones with us we go to Goofy's. When it's adults we rather go to Storyteller's. We prefer the food at Storyteller's.

My family prefer goofy's. We've had both, and love both, but would choose goofy's kitchen over storytellers. It seems to have a funner atmosphere. At goofy's we've seen the genie, goofy, baloo, the fairy godmother, chip and dale, Mulan, cinderella and others. At storytellers we've seen chip and dale, brer bear, terk. In our expense, we saw more characters per meal at goofy's and they had. Ore interaction with the kids.

At Storyteller's, since apparently there is no Pocahontas anymore, you are only going to see critters (animals). My kids have always enjoyed the interaction (they characters at times sing "skip to my lou" and go around the restaurant gathering up the kids to dance with them). But if you are hoping for real 'names' like Goofy or a Princess or other "face" characters- you aren't going to get that at Storytellers.

Why just these two? Goofy's has a huge spread foodwise, but is the most expensive. Minnie's is usually great at a mix of characters and is generally the least expensive (but has the least expansive choice in food). I love Storyteller's spread- they have eggs benedict and smoked salmon and a few more choices than Minnie's has.

So as long as you think your kids/family won't be disappointed by not having "face" characters, I think you'll like either.

Freebie bonus way to see lots of characters for free? Dancin' with Disney in DCA from 1- 5 pm daily (but double ck). It's a new and not much talked about thing and it's loaded with characters (we saw cruella de vil, schmee, the big bad wolf, baloo, king louie, Timon, and more).

we have already done Minnies . and have been to WDW a dozen times . we were looking at Storytellers hoping to find a rare character that cant be found in the park . Like the raccoon ?

thanks

Don't think I've ever seen Meeko the raccoon at Storytellers or in the parks. My experience in Storytellers has been pretty good food which you can either order as buffet or off the menu if you want to make sure it is hot/fresh/prepared just for you BUT a limited range of fur characters (bears from Brother Bear, Turk from Tarzan, Chip or Dale). Goofy's Kitchen has big buffet which means lots of food choices but also the downside of some of it not being so fresh AND lots more characters both face and fur.

Last Sunday, we passed Storytellers in the morning. We saw Chip and Dale, Terk, Meeko and Brer Rabbit through the windows.

I have a question...were going on our first trip at Christmas and I seen somewhere someone had said they had to pay $40 at ariels grotta for a pic with the Princesses...do you have to pay for those!!??...and can you take em with your own camera and not pay for them if you do have to pay!!

At Goofy's Kitchen and Ariel's Grotto they take your picture with the character that the meal is named for before you go in for your meal. They will also take the picture with your camera.

At some point during your meal they will come around with the picture package and offer to sell it to you (I believe it's 1x 8x10 & 4x 4x6) in a cute little display/holder/cardboard/thingy (this is clearly the rarely seen technical term for it) for around $35 dollars if I recall correctly. There is absolutely no obligation to purchase these pictures though many of us get suckered into it (which then makes the Photopass + a good deal!)

During your meal the other characters will come around and sign autographs and pose for pictures. These must be taken with your own camera as there is no photographers with them.

We're just adults and we enjoy Storyteller's because it seems a bit more relaxed. This could also be because it's never been crowded when we went. Usually we see Chip & Dale, Meeko, Rafiki, the bears from Brother Bear, Turk and sometimes a "Brer". :)

For the OP, at Goofy's you will always have at least one Princess. You will never see a Princess at storytellers. And, having been to both, I must say that the buffet is much better at Goofy's Kitchen, and the menu items are better at Storytellers.

After a disappointing time at Minnie's & Goofy's on our last trip, we'll be trying Storyteller's on this next one, so I'll report back.
