"STORMIN THE BEACH" BCV Owners- and GROUPIES WELCOME HOME !!

Not specifically 7 months but I was able to pick up 2 nights MLK weekend in a studio stalking and then I waitlisted a 3rd night that filled yesterday. DH and I won’t use Stormalong Bay that weekend, we’re just wanting it for FARTS. We were worried about the possibility of skyliner maintenance so we’re excited to walk to EPCOT.
Sounds like we'll be at BCV at the same time, and like you, I won't use Stormalong Bay. Actually, I love BCV although I don't ever even pack a bathing suit. Stormalong Bay holds no interest for me-I don't swim. I'm the one sitting in the shade, reading. I just got my first AP in years, and I'm really excited to be able to walk to Epcot to get a snack at Le Halles, then come back and read.

Might look to stay here in July. Wondering though what happens if its not open in July what have the past plans been? I know at times they opened up Boardwalk Pool but wondering if they give water park tickets or something?

I just snagged a studio June 28-30 after stalking for a few days. Wasn’t available at 7months. I was so excited bc DS10 has been asking to stay at BC for SAB. He has never stayed there. I was super excited to snag it, only to realize Disney extended the closure. I don’t know if I should take my chances or book something else. SAB is the only reason I picked BC.

We are moving to the cabins at Fort Wilderness for the next 5 days. I can switch back to doing the full week there. Not sure what to do.

What do you mean by extended? Do you see an update that indicates the closure is beyond June as it has been?

No, sorry to be confusing. When I looking a lot of places still said Jan-May. I never noticed they had extended it until June until after I booked. For some reason, I thought it would be over by the beginning of June. (I guess I should stop stalking at 3 am before coffee)

Hi everyone! DH and I are spending a couple of nights at BCV for the first time. Where do we check in or even enter the building if our room is ready by arrival time? Do the villas have their own lobby or share with the hotel like BWV? I feel silly asking this but we’ve only stayed on the hotel side! Feel so lucky to have grabbed a studio for FotA!

If you do online check-in in the app, you can just go straight to your room if ready on your arrival. From the porte cochere, if you are facing the main entrance, turn to your left. There's a side walk that goes diagonally across the grass to the DVC entrance (there's a sweet statue of The Little Mermaid on a rock by the DVC entrance).

Perfect directions! Our room was ready early and we found it easily. First time here and love it already! Thanks for the help.

Do all of the studios now have the queen bed that pulls from the wall (no rooms still have the sofa pullout)?

It's been awhile. Now that the pool refurb is well underway, anyone there or recently there to give current status? I am guessing the DVC quiet pool is busy.

We have two stays coming up: June 1-7 and Dec 29-Jan3 (contingent on a waitlist for Dec 31 that I couldn't get at the 11 month window)

We were there a couple weeks ago. Stormalong Bay is definitely torn up and work has begun. We noticed more chairs at the BCV 'quiet' pool than normal, but didn't see the other 2 quiet pools (we assume they have extra chairs, too). The weather was decent while we were there, but not must-do pool weather, so we couldn't say how much more crowded the pools will be normally. But I would expect the quiet pools to be anything but quiet when you're there in early June. Maybe you'll get really lucky and the SAB refurb will be done early!! Maybe plan on a waterpark day?

Yea we are counting out SAB for our trip. We did a split stay so we do parks while at BCV and then we will have a free waterpark day in the middle and then pool time at SSR. We know we will be back in DEC and coming from WI so pool time will happen with a heated pool or hot tub even then.

Also thanks for the update! With the SAB closer I expect the lobby area of BCV to be busier in June and want to request a higher floor/woods view.

Just returned from a 3week stay at BCV. As the weather turned nicer the Dunes Cove pool got very busy around 1:00pm and there wasn't much for chair selection(there is room to add more chairs). I think this will only get busier as weather gets nicer. If you are used to this being a quiet pool temper those expectations. It is also busier later in the evenings with the hot tub full at times and if you have a pool view room you can hear guests as there are more families using the pool. Also, according to the Life guards (AKA bus drivers) there is a leak in SAB and they couldn't find where it was coming from, so they couldn't empty the pool completely. They said they were about two weeks behind and new hire life guards were having their start dates pushed back and they were allowing a limited amount of work at other feature pools as SAB guards are down to 32 hours and those are running games and crafts in the Solarium and Drawing room. When we left Feb. 13 there was only one small area that still had water, hopefully they can make up some time but it sounded very frustrating to all. Just my 2 cents

Clearly, SAB needed a lot of maintenance based on some of these reports! There were a few days over the past couple years when they needed to close the pool for hours at a time due to issues. Hopefully, they're ripping off the bandaid with this 5/6-month refurb, and it will be good as new and ready for the summer.....

Anyone have recent SAB progress photos or news about the resorts? Hopefully construction will soon come to an end.
