"STORMIN THE BEACH" BCV Owners- and GROUPIES WELCOME HOME !!

So thrilled to be able to get BCV 7 months out for a week! I'm kind of still in awe of it....yes I know Spring Break pricing is higher, but this is the first time I've been successful at getting it like this with no waitlist :).
I wonder if storm along Bay being closed helped out on the availability for you this time. I love Beach Club!!!!

DD and I stayed at BCV for 3 nights in July and loved it! The week DH and I need for May 2025 is still available right now and hopefully will stay available in Oct when I can book. DH has never stayed there and I would love for him to get the chance since it is always booked by the time our window opens.

Has anyone ever stayed when Storm Along Bay was closed and were there any negative ramifications other than the pool being closed? For instance, is the villa pool outrageously packed because of the closure of the big pool? Is the noise or view of construction a big negative to consider?

Thanks for any help!

We stayed there a long time ago when a section of Storm Along Bay was closed, but not the entire pool. I don't remember it being much of an inconvenience but our kids were much younger back then so we probably spent a lot more time in the parks.

We're planning on staying either there or BWV next May/June and the lack of pool options does concern me. I don't know how the three small quiet pools will be able to meet the demand of everyone at both resorts unless they offer something like free water park tickets. I have asked reps two different times if they will provide that and each time I've been told the current plan is to only offer the three quiet pools for the guests.

Welp, was gonna buy a refillable mug for the first time…
The only reason I like freestyle machines is the seltzer water they have. Beach club has a machine that dispenses all different types of soda and Powerade. If you like the freestyle machines, the Yacht club does have one, and is closer to SAB. Also Hurricane Hannah's has regular dispensers too! Refillable cups are a must if your staying for week (more than make your money back)

What are the chances they're over estimating the pool refurb next year and not under estimating. Booking for first week of July as it should be done by then based on Disney's timeline but man oh man does it make me a little nervous. SAB is THE reason we stay there so it kinda would be a deal breaker. Would you feel comfortable making these plans?
Disney knows SAB is a major booking reason. I doubt the refrub goes longer than listed and most likely opens early.

Update: the machines were working, we bought two mugs, and loved it! I feel like the central marketplace location made it very worthwhile.

All booked for the second big family trip at BCV for August 16-23, 2025!! There are 10 of us and learned a lot on our first trip together back on 2022 so hopefully smoother sailing this trip. Hopefully all goes well with the SOB refurb!!

When was the Stormalong refurb announcement posted on the DVC site? If owners already had a reservation there, were they notified?

I believe it was announced before you could book at 11 months so we could make alternate plans. In the post below, it was discussed here back in February, and possibly earlier. I became aware of it as a BCV DVC owner from reading it on the website, then reading about it here.

Just an FYI: Storm-Along Bay will be closed sometime in 2025. I would think the renovation work would being in January.

I have a reservation in mid-January, yet no one has notified me. But since I don't swim, it's no big deal. The only reason I wish I knew whether it would be closed when I'm there is that I do like to sit in a rocking chair by the pool (near Beaches and Cream) listening to the splashing while I read.

They wouldn't reach out and notify you individually about something like that. The information has been on the Disney World and the DVC web sites for many months, and has certainly been shared a lot out here on the boards. Since it's not clear when they're starting the refurb in Jan, maybe you'll get lucky in mid-Jan and still have access to the splashing water on your rocker!

Thanks! It always amazes me how, no matter how cold it is out (in my January trips, I've seen it in the upper 40s-low 50s mid-day), there are always people splashing in the pool.

First time stay at BCV tell me about Bell Services… we have one night here in December before moving over to AKL. Where do I take my bags for them to transfer? Main Beach Club lobby?

There's a bell stand inside in the main lobby. They will take care of that for you.

Man, I would be missing BCV a ton if I had to move to AKL. This will be your first but not your last stay at BCV!!

You can also call Bell Services from the phone in your room, and they will come and pick up your bags from your room, and complete the resort transfer info there on the spot. We’ve done that before when checking out and headed to a park. It saved us the time and hassle of carting bags down to the lobby. Well worth the tip!

Weird question, but how to BCV lovers like Polynesian stays? I have never been to Polynesian but am curious with the new tower. If I like the calm of BCV and walking in to a resort, would Polynesian likely not be my jam? Sounds busy there and reliant on transport…

Is there any intel on whether or not Hurricane Hannah's will still be open during the SAB refurb? I know that it is *technically* outside of the pool area.

When we stay at the Poly, we always stay in a bungalow so take my opinion with that in mind.

It’s nice to be able to walk to TTC to catch the Epcot monorail and it will be nice to be able to walk to MK once the pathway opens again. We’ve never had an issue with busses to AK or HS. Downtown Disney busses can be slow but that seems standard to all the resorts.

Kona is our absolute favorite breakfast place on property so that is a huge draw to Poly. The proximity to GF and Contemporary are nice - we like the restaurants/bars at both those resorts. The quick service at Poly is pretty standard/normal quick service. Poly has nice gift shops too - even if we are not staying at/near Poly, we try to go over there each trip to look at their merchandise.

Since we have a bungalow, we don’t go to any of the other pools but I will say they always look crowded when we walk by. One of the reasons I love BCV is the DVC quiet pool and I don’t know how relaxing either of the current Poly pools would be. Also they don’t have real cabanas to rent at Poly.

Our home resorts are BCV, VGF, BLT, and VGC. As much as we like the Poly bungalows, we have no interest in owning there which says something, I guess. But we did buy a nice sized BLT resale to use as SAP+ primarily for the bungalows (and AUL).
