"STORMIN THE BEACH" BCV Owners- and GROUPIES WELCOME HOME !!

Serious question. I am torn between BCV and AKV Jambo House standard for Christmas. We have never stayed at BCV but do like that we get the extra sleeper so our toddler so our teenager doesn’t have to share a bed but we love, love Animal Kingdom. Has anyone done both over the holidays? If so, I would love your opinion 🙏. Thanks!

I don't know that you'll get an unbiased opinion here...in the BCV lovers thread :)

My obvious choice is BCV, but you might want to go ask in a different thread, or go read the thread about your favorite DVC resort.

Do you own at both? I love and own both resorts, but I generally prefer BCV, however I imagine that AKV would give me more of that Christmas feeling! I've never done either over the holidays though. :-)

As much as BCV is my most loved resort I definitely think it gives me the 'summer break' feel. AKV has the cosiness, and the lobby has the fire that I associate with Christmas. It all depends on priorities though. How much time will you spend absorbing the vibe of the resort!

We actually own at Copper Creek and will be doing a split stay, 4 nights at wilderness lodge and 3 nights at either AKV or BCV. We have never been during late December but I am going to assume most days the pool will be out and if the weather is great then its a bonus but certainly not the deciding factor. We have stayed at AKV a many times but have never to Disney been during Christmas break. Obviously a standard room is cheaper then BCV but I am okay spending more if its worth the experience during the holidays. I doubt we will ever be back for Christmas because of the crowds and Epcot will likely be our missed park so want the best resort for some relaxation since we only bought a 3 day park pass so that leaves us 4 days to hang at our resort and around Orlando.

Hi! First time staying at BCV! Any specific first floor one bedroom recommendations? (standard/resort view - I can't remember the actual view name but it's the cheapest one lol).

Are you sure you booked Beach Club Villas, the DVC resort, vs. Beach Club Resort, the hotel side? BCV doesn't have views, only different villa sizes. The BC hotel side does have views, and you can ask for recommendations on the Yacht & Beach Club forum.

Yes it is the villas. I assumed like many other Disney properties there are various views and what I booked was just a standard. If there are no views then it is just a one bedroom then.

It's good you clarified. You can request a view at BCV (by calling the Disney Resorts Reservation phone if you booked cash via Disney or via the DVC owner if you're renting points). I'll leave it for others to present the pros and cons of the options for the first floor - it's more or less a view of woods or of the pool.

Thanks. I saw there’s a dedicated 1 bedroom vs lock off. It looks like the dedicated 1 bedroom has an extra closet. Our thought was it was a good place to fold up and store the double stroller??? Is that even a request that can be made? We don’t really care about the view. Maybe something close to the walkway to Epcot? Was interested in hearing anyone’s thoughts on those who stayed first floor before! We really hate navigating elevators with the wide double stroller but it’s the best one for Disney lol. We stayed contemporary a few years ago and was given a ground floor room in the garden wing and have been hooked to the ease of it ever since.

Correct on closet where connecting door to a studio would be. Can request a Dedicated. Might get it. Less noise from under that connecting door. First floor there are 4 on pool side. (110, 136, 138 & 166). There is 1 on woods side. (153).

For the upcoming Stormalong Bay closure, has there been any more specific date information about when it starts yet other than "January 2025"?

I was wondering the same thing. I have a stay booked at BCV next January, and I was wondering if I'll be without Stormalong Bay (and the Skyliner since that traditionally goes down in January).

I would hazard a guess as right after new year's but they may want to wait until after Marathon Weekend and MLK Jr weekend, so maybe late Jan - could be the same week skyliner goes down.
I wonder if it would be any easier to book there during the closure.

This is us too. Arriving 1/13. I switched to BWV in anticipation of the closure but I’d much rather stay at BCV’s if SAB closes later in the month.

How is the internet in the villas? Good enough for working/zoom calls?
I believe working from a Disney room is strictly prohibited! Don't get caught!

But seriously, most of the time the connection is adequate for access, especially a little later in the morning. I don't know if it was physically true, but access first thing in the morning when folks are grabbing Genie+ and LL always seemed to drag a bit, but after around 8/9AM seemed better. Again, might be an inaccurate perception..... And those patterns will likely change with the new LL system starting next week.....
