Anyone try to use the pool at Stormalong Bay this past Sunday? Closed all day! And it was the best day of the Labor Day weekend - no rain, no thunder, no lightning.
We went down to use the pool early afternoon. Was told that the pool was closed as they had to "shock" it and would not re-open until 7:00 PM. The pool never re-opened until the next day. Was sorely disappointed. Called down to the front desk and was told to use the quiet pools. Went there and they were PACKED! No room in the pools or around them - beside that, I have a 4 year old who doesn't yet know how to swim and the quiet pools have no kiddie pool. Called the front desk and they said sorry and I could go to the Boardwalk resort to use their pool.
Now I could be mistaken but we used to have a pool and the only time it ever needed a shock was when there was a high algae count usually brought on by prolonged days of rain or a delay in maintenance (if we went away and had no one to add the chemicals). Well, it didn't rain that day and had only a couple quick showers the day before. So if shocking was really what the SAB pool needed, then it sounds like a lack of maintenance. Needless to say, we were sorely disappoitned as we had set aside that afternoon as an extended afternoon of pool use.
Also, they now close the pool bar at 6:00 PM (used to be open until 7:00 PM until after Labor Day). I spoke with the CM at the pool bar (got to know him by name as we have been at the YC/BC 3 times over the past year or so. I told him it seems like Disney has been doing alot of cutbacks of things over the past 2 years or so. He agreed and he added that "Disney thinks that people don't notice, but they do".
