I was speaking with a CM about a reservation at Vero Beach in the Spring. We are beginning our trip in 2005 at the BCV for a couple of days and I asked if there were any rehab plans for either resort. She said that the info. that she has noted that work was scheduled in the fall of this year for SAB, probably November.

I do not know how accurate her info. is, but I thought I would pass it along.

That would probably be right! LOL

We have the worst luck with SAB. We stayed at the YC about 5 years ago and SAB was drained and being refurbished. DH and I stayed there b/c I was pregnant w/ DS and we wanted a nice relaxing vacation, spending time at SAB.

We're staying at BCV Dec 1-8 and DS has been talking about going there for months now. He's been telling everyone he sees about going down the "pirate ship" slide. I can already picture the poor kid's face when we show up and the pool is drained!

and spoke with Tory, very pleasant.

She said it was the first she has heard of this and put me on hold to phone around to find any information.

Unfortunately, the Manager was not around to varify so she left a message. She suggested that I phone back tomorrow to see if the Manager phoned her back.

I will do so.

Keeping fingers crossed that this is just that, a rumour!LOL

I hope it's a rumor. We are there Dec 3-11 and I know that many have reported that BCV has been sold out for that week for many months. I can't imagine the number of irritated people.

Hopefully if this is in November, it's done before December (sorry November travelers, no hard feelings meant)

Thanks for researching this! DS, and DH, will be so disappointed if this is true.

Ok, I phoned again this afternoon.

The Manager, Eric, is MIA!LOL

Still could not find out anything!

The way I look at, No News Is Good News!LOL

One thing I did find out, the only place available between Christmas and New Year's is OKW!

Boy if my waitlist don't come thru.............

But I told her I believe in the "Magic"!

We just came back from our WDW vacation today. We visited SAB and it looked very worn. The pool was really dirty and was not impressed by its overall appearance. We were very surprised to see!

We were there in April, and it looked fine to us, although I believe your report. They were having trouble with the heater, and until it was fixed, the water was rather cold.

I have had success in the past with rehab info. by calling the GM's office at the resort and asking directly.

Good luck to those of you with trips booked in the fall! If they do have to do repairs, I hope that they can complete them quickly! :)

With OKW's main pool going down for rehab in September, potentially through the end of the year, I hope they wouldn't choose to tackle two resorts at once. Could be a lotta hopping going on...

Low and Behold no manager was available to talk to me!

I left a message with Jim the YC/BC Recreations Manager.

Let's see if I get a phone call back!

Something smells fishy!

Oh sorry that's my lunch!LOL

You know, the more I think about this, I'm starting to get a little worried. I had originally questioned the logic of having both the OKW and BCV pools in rehab at once. Now I'm starting to notice that most sites have the OKW rehab listed for "8-10 weeks". If so, it seems conceivable that the OKW refurb could run from September until just before Thanksgiving. Then, at the very end of November (assuming they wanted to wait until after Thanksgiving), they could begin work at BCV.

If anyone receives additional info on this, please do post.

SAB needs repair and rehab. Has anyone tried the sinking sands area? Does it work? Anyone noticed the whirlpool area slowing down? Disney needs to keep thier pools in tip top condition, and ergular closings for rehab are a part of making that happen. Fortunately, most resorts have alternatives. Vero is the one that really causes concern, there is not an alternative pool for use, at least a non-shark option.

I e-mailed MS and if they tell me anything, I'll let you all know.

My thought is that if SAB is due for rehab, then logically, wouldn't Disney want to do it when it affects the least amount of people? If so, I would think January would be a more logical time for a full rehab, if it's expected to take a long time.

JMHO.

January is fine with me as along as it happens AFTER the 11th- I'll be there for the marathon and I wnat to use that pool! I'll NEED to use that pool!!! ::yes:: ::yes:: ::yes::

This is the answer I received from Lanie Wagner?

SAB is going into rehab in phases.

First starting November 1 - 23rd

Second, after Thanksgiving, November 23rd until the 22nd (I am assuming December since no month was mentioned)

These two times involve the Flag Area. As I am new to SAB cannot really say what this entails but she did say the Flag is coming down. Can someone clarify?

The last phase is January 2 until February 25th!

Letters will be going in the mail to all that will be staying there.

So it wasn't my lunch that smelt fishy!LOL

Unfortunately I was not home when the phone call was made so this was left on my answering machine.

Disney must hate th DIS! We always seem to know before they are ready to "Officially" announce anything!LOL

Anyone know what "the flag area" means? And if that means that the rest of the pool (whatever that is) will be open?

Where's Tagrel? He's got a huge slideshow of SAB, he must know what the flag area is.

I wonder when these letters are going out? Probably the day before I leave.
