Stormalong Bay rehab news

I'll be at BWV during this last phase. I wonder if it will encompass a lot and so guests may be encouraged to use the pool at BWV, since it's just across the way. I hope not-then the pool at BWV might be kind of crowded (assuming January weather is warm enough to swim)

OK, I am looking at Tagrel's SAB slideshow and looking for anything that looks like flags.

There are shots where there are tall posts with what look like pennant shaped flags on the top but these flags seem to be all over SAB's area.

Oh, this is maddening to not know exactly what is going on, when and where.

It figures...my first December at BCV and the pool's being rehabbed. And on top of that, I get to have my parents and in-laws see it. Yippee. I know rehabs have to happen, but I am just sorry I have to be there for it.

Simba's Mom, I personally don't even like to pool hop. I wouldn't want to walk all the way over to the BWV just for the pool. I'd probably just suck it up and use the quiet pool if I had to, but I'd be a little sad about it.

Just wait do you and your family like the waterparks because if you like them be ready for BB to be closed it was last Dec anyhow.

So- will the pool be totally shut down during those times or will portions be opened?

Thanks for the info, Scratch42. I'm sure it will only be a matter of days before some of the more trustworthy Disney sites on the net have more info.

In fact, I might forward a copy of your post to a couple and let them get more details from their inside sources. :)

According to the message, partial rehab other parts are going to be open during this rehab.

Can anyone figure out what the "Flag" refers to?

Thanks for confirming the info. I am impressed with the CM who gave me the scoop when I asked in general about both Vero and the BCV. I hope that they finish the work quickly for those of you traveling there during the rehab.

I don' t know if I should be worried or happy about arriving on March 3rd? I know when they rehabbed the BWV slide, they reopened on time, but I wonder how good they are about doing that?

And to the best of my experience - whenever there is a rehab at BC or BWV, the guests can use the other resorts pool - case in point - when SAB slide was rehabbed and when BWV slide was rehabbed.

And those poles are the light poles - there are flags on top of all of them.

Those are the only flags I could find as well. I was on Suite Disney's site (hope writing that is allowed) and saw many light posts with little blue flags on top. They were scattered all over the pool area including the shipwreck area. So, I don't have a clue what they are talking about.

I am very disappointed to hear this. Approx. July 20 I spoke to MS about a possible rehab as well as the BC front desk. Amazingly, no one new anything about a rehab so I changed my reservation (I originally had half at BW and half at BC based on 11 month window) to all at BC. Obviously I am not real happy right not because I even had a boardwalk view at the BW. I only changed to BC because I did not want to move during my stay and my kids love Stormalong Bay. They also love BW and the clown slide.

I always seem to hit the rehabs. Last time I was at the BC in 2003 the slide was closed!

Does anyone have a link with a picture? We'll be at the YC at the beginning of November for a few nights before moving over to OKW. One of the reasons I booked there is because my DD's enjoy SAB!

We had reservations at the Beach Club for the latter half of our two week trip at the end of January (we're staying at OKW for the first part as we generally do.) I think I'm going to cancel the reservations at the Beach Club- we love OKW and I don't want to take a chance on the pool being closed at the Beach Club.

I'm new here, although not new to the DVC. We bought into OKW in September of 2000 and haven't looked back!

I seem to hit alot of rehabs also. We were at BWV last Oct when the slide was closed and originally booked at YC when the slide was going down in Jan 03 (I ended up switching to BWI).

We will be there the first week of Dec - I just hope that the kiddie area is open then :(

For what it is worth, I just got off the phone with MS and they didn't know anything about a rehab at SAB. So the CM called the resort and she said that they had no information about any rehab scheduled for SAB. Now we all know that you can talk to different CM's and get different information, so I just thought that I would post what I was told.

We are going to BCV the week before Christmas this year because my kids want to use the pool. The rest of the time we will be at VWL(our home resort) and SSR. I really hope there is no rehab or at least the pool will still be in operation. If not, we will still have a great time since we will be at WDW!

Thanks for all of the info on these boards!

Sorry - just caught up with this thread, and the first thing I thought was - 'What is the flag area'?

I know that the zero entry and sandbar area (in front of YC) is one section. And I can't remember if the Lazy River section is separate from the very LARGE section that includes where the slide comes out. I thought it was, but some pictures I looked at seemed to show them as connected. Any way you look at it some great section of the pool will be closed from November - end of Feb. :(

I'll get some firsthand knowledge (and some pictures!) when I'm there in mid December. And I'm sure someone will provide more info soon. Sorry for all that are travelling then. I'll be alone in December, so I won't have to worry to much about the kids being upset.

The lazy river is seperate from the rest of the pool (at least people can't go between to too, maybe water can!) There is a bridge over a barrier between the two. A bit deceptive.

So there are four pool areas; the sand bar, lazy river, shipwreck and the main area with whirlpool and exit to slide. I'm not sure if these areas share any water or support systems and therefore tied together.

We are planning on being at BCV Feb 20-25 and hope that SAB will be up and running!! :(

I just called MS and they denied the SAB rehab, adding that when the OKW rehab came up they new about it months in advance. He also said that the rehab "has been on some message boards" but he didn't feel that it would happen. Now what????? I have a reservation for 2/3 for one night before our cruise. I wanted to be there to have the pool to play in that day, for the kids, big and little. Maybe I should switch to BWV. They have a great pool too. I'll be waiting for more info, if anyone comes up with anything.

Thanks in advance for the info!

:confused3 :bored:

That is probably why they phoned and did not reply to my email!

I could not "cut and paste" it onto the boards!

Hopefully someone else with "insider" information will come forward and explain this whole mess!
