Stormalong Bay rehab news

Ask for a Manager! Front Desk CMs are probably the last ones to know about this.

Scratch42 got a message from a manager so the higher ups are probably the ones with the info.

At this point though, they probably don't want a mass exodus from a resort this early, when people have time to re-book somewhere else (meaning the ones at the Y&B, not us DVCers).

Try calling DVC MS and see if they have heard anything.

I just called DVC and they don't anything about it!!!
I am now talking to few CM at Beach Club and they say they don't know anything about it!! NOW i am getting MAD!!!! I am staying there during T DAY week thru DVC!!! Now i have to check this out!!

Ok, spoke to Eric, the recreation manager and he said for the month of November, the kiddie pool and area will be closed...All other area of the SAB will be open!!

WHEW!!

Interesting...makes you wonder why Scratch42 was told rehab would go into 2005.

Thanks for the info.

Interesting!

It was Eric that was originally suppose to get back to MS regarding this whole thing! He did not call back!

I just wish they had sent an email instead of calling! Just goes to show you, as proven before, talk to a CM get one story, talk to another CM get another!

Oh Brother!

I guess time will tell!

SAB need work. The sinking sands area doesn't work. Repair is needed. They have to do it sometime!

Agreed that it needs some work - Disney needs to be transparent and honest with it's guests when they do rehabs - customers will understand if they are given the facts

thanks

So, does this mean that the rehab is only taking place in November- or, did you only ask about November???

He said it will be in phases throughout the Fall and he asked me what date i was staying and then he informed me that 'November' was the kiddie area refurbishing. He didn't elaborate the other phases in what months.. He assured me that it will never happen that the WHOLE SAB pool area will be closed at one time and if that would to happen, the BC/YC will notifiy the guests; but because this is such a small area in each phases, it not necessary to 'notify' the guests since SAB is to be open during refurbishing. He was very nice and informative.

 Melinda, thank you for this update. We will be at BCV Nov. 14-17th with my sister who is in her 70's...the zero entry pool area was one of the many reasons we chose our home resort for this trip.

We were there last November & the lazy area was closed. We weren't notified of this prior to the trip. We are planning another November trip & just as everyone else has mentioned, we haven't been notified either.

While we were a little disappointed that lazy river was closed, the rest of the pool was open & we enjoyed that. It didn't put a damper on our fun. I think closing different areas at different times is fine - although I do think it would be hard to repair the sinking sands area without closing the entire pool, but who knows!

Thank you Melinda.... now, if I only knew if they consider January as Fall! Can you tell me what phone number you called?

I called 407-934-8000 and was connected to Recreation manager office.

Their reply was the following:

We have not been notified of any official word that Stormalong Bay will be under rehab at any time in the near future. If this does happen, we will notify all of our members that would be affected by the rehab.

i am not surprised!!
That was the answer i got at first from few, but i went right to the top, the manager. Like i posted above, the manager told us that they won't notify members unless the WHOLE pool closes and that was quoted by Eric, that my DH and I spoke to yesterday.

That should mean the kiddie area will be completed by January...Right? I'm OK with that! Has anyone found out anything else?

That would be a logical assumption since that is the area it will be refurbished in Nov. The question you may be concern with is ...what section is close in january, if that??

Seems like you can never get a straight story!!! But i am going by Eric, and I will hold him to it so i hope there are NO surprises for me when i check in, in November!

Yep, that's correct - just got my letter about the main pool at OKW closing for construction of the slide. It will close September 6 & they're looking for it to be completed by mid-December. (Sorry for getting off topic a little!)
