I've been to this pool on 2 previous stays and never noticed the kiddie slide. I was just looking at pics on allears and saw there is one attached to the "shipwreck". Is this kiddie pool and small slide across the public sidewalk where you access the big slide? Is it sand bottom?

Thanks!

Yes the kiddie pool is across the way, as you go up the steps to get to the large slide, you will see the kiddie pool and slide. However, I don't remember if the bottom has sand or not (my kids were never interested in the kiddie pool). There is also a lifeguard that is sitting there as well. Enjoy :goodvibes

The bottom is not sandy and I wouldn't consider it a kiddie pool. The water is a good 3 feet deep. The slide is perfect though. There are about 4 steps leading up to the slide and it's the perfect length. The lifeguard on duty has no problem with you waiting and catching at the bottom. We spent HOURS walking up and down the steps and going down that slide. It is deep though for little ones and there is some good force that comes off the slide with a current as the water comes down.

THanks for the great info. Are there chairs or at least a patio area to set towels and stuff?

Here are a couple of pictures of the kiddie slide area, but in two stays at the beach club, I didn't know this was there until after I got home. My boys were preteens, so they wouldn't have used this area anyway.

These pictures were provided by pixarmom and HockeymomR.

I don't know if there are pool loungers or areas for parents to sit. I'll post your question over on the Beach & Yacht Club FAQ thread to see if anyone who has used this slide can provide more info.

Edit to add-

As I was looking at some pictures of the Jib Slide, I came across this picture I took from the crow's nest. It gives a little bit of a view of the seating area for the kiddie pool area. I see a bench. I don't see chairs. Still looking to hear from experts who have used this area.

Hi TCups4Me!!

We LOVE the kiddie slide area at the base of the pirate ship!

It's located just by the stairs to the jib slide, it's not sand bottom, there are no loungers in that area (at least there were no loungers during our last stay in August.) They do have a bench in the corner overlooking the lake, and we've used that quite a bit to store our things, towels, etc. and dry off. We just bring towels over from the main pool area. One thing I love about that area is the wonderful view of the lake - very nice!

Here's a link to Stormalong Bay photos I took (mostly from our August trip) and you'll see a section regarding the kiddie slide area: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2790323&highlight=stormalong

I've copied some of that thread (with additional notes to address your question) below:

Guests must exit the main area of SAB and cross the pathway to get to the slide entrance.

You can see the kiddie slide area at the base of the pirate ship in the bottom left part of the photo:

That's our bench! Yay!

Thank you natebenma and pixarmom!!!!!

You posted EXACTLY what I was looking for. Thanks for taking the time to post all of that. DH is sitting here with me watching the game while I do vacation planning and the boys nap. He likes to peek when he sees pictures and he was amazed at how much info you provided for me. "Those people are really nice" he says. I think he finally just realized why I love these boards!!!!

Oh - and he thinks that pool area looks awesome, as do I. We're both in disbelief that we never saw it before.
