We flew down from Long Island 2 times and stayed for a week, 5 of us. Loved ordering from netgrocer, bought all the stuff we could for the whole week from them. The prices were great. It was brought right to the room in 5 boxes. We have rented a van there on an earlier trip, went to publix, bought food for the week, etc. but after doing the netgrocer, frozen meat cooler thing, we would never do it any other way again. It also brings us a piece of home, bringing our meats and cold cuts from home. We packed spices too, and ate every meal except one character meal in the room! We had a one bedroom each time. We got all of these ideas from this forum.
We checked a soft cooler full of frozen meat, sausages, meatballs, hot dogs, hamburgers, a ton of cold cuts, steaks, and chicken. When we got to Disney it was still frozen solid. This worked out great! We didn't even have any blue ice or dry ice in it. In fact , the soft cooler kept it all frozen. We figured whatever melted we would eat the first two days but nothing melted. Then each morning we took out what we were going to eat before going out for the day. We did this at OKW and BWV.
All we had to buy was milk, eggs, margarine and bread from the Disney general store at BWV and OKW and that was painful enough. We are not cheap either but we probably saved hundreds of dollars. The way the kitchen is set up, we would throw everything in the dishwasher and run it over night after dinner or whenever.
The on site food and the disney delivery we felt was a total rip off.
We decided that time is too important to be shopping during our vacation.
