Stores in Key West

DD12 has grown 2 inches in 4 months. While trying on her shorts the other day, we discovered that she does not have many that fit. Our cruise is only 20 days away. There are not many stores in Canada that are selling shorts at this time of the year. We do not have an excursion booked in Key West so we decided to do some shopping there. Are there any stores near by the dock where I could buy her a couple pairs of shorts?

Meshee - I am in the same boat - bad pun I know! We are on the Jan 23 Wonder and I am looking for places in Ontario to get my 4 DD's some summer wear. I am hoping for the Sears Catalogue to be out soon - but they do not have the best selection of what I am looking for either. I need to get bathing suits and went into Bikini Village last week and they do not sell kids bathing suits anymore - I almost screamed! If I cannot find anything here I think we will have to do some shopping while in Florida.

Chabos... If I remember correctly, the summer sears catolgue is usally out right after Christmas. However, it needs to be out by the beginning of next week for me to have enough time to order anything. Hopefully there will be stores in Key West where I can pick up some shorts for DD12. We are flying into Orlando the evening before the cruise so maybe I will have a little time to shop then as well. The worst case is: I will have to do laundry on the ship if I can't find any. there are stores that sell shorts in key west. There is stores that sell things almost as soon as you get off the boat. In Cozumel and Grand Cayman you can pick up shorts also. Limited Too has some summer stuff online already and Gap Kids. If you are staying in Orlando you will not have any problems. Ron Jons has summer shorts in stock already. They have stores in Orlando(I think) and Cocoa Beach. Also they have an online sight.

If you have time while in Orlandi prior to boarding make a stop at the local Target or Walmart or go to the Florida Mall....they will all have shorts. I am a Floridian (living in OHIO now) and they always sell shorts year round in Florida. I have lived in Orlando, Ft. Lauderdale and Key West and they all have local stores that sell cheap shorts if you look hard enough. You can take a cab over to Target in Key West and save youreslf alot of money by NOT buying right next to the docks. It's a relativey short and cheap cab ride. Good Luck!

I have said it many many times that you have to be very careful of the shops in Key West - I have mentioned many times to check what is going to be charged on your card BEFORE you hand it for the charges - anyone is more than welcomed to either stop by the shop and get a Key West packet that will help you while in my hometown or I will be more than happy to send it to you - believe me I am only saying this due to the fact that as a 4 generation conch of Key West, I was "overcharged" by over $400.00 and had I not been as quick as I was, it would have been a lost issue -
unfortunalty my hometown is not the place I grew up in or the people either - sorry

snelsonbrown..... I would love to stop in your shop while we are in key west. Where abouts is your shop? Is it very far from the dock? Are you open on Sundays?

Meshee- We're sailing with you on the 1/15/04 cruise. We too have a DD12 who has grown out of here summer clothes. There are some good deals in Florida. When are you arriving and where are you staying the night before? We plan on going to either Wal-Mart in Orlando or shopping at one of the stores in Port Canaveral. You're welcome to go along with my wife and daughter to shop for some summer wear on the night of the 14th if you're staying close by and don't have transportation.

Shirleys store isn't in Key West, it's in Port Canaveral. We stopped by last year and Shirley gave us a packet of info and discounts for Key West.

It must be the age. I also have a DD12 who has outgrown many clothes we were planning to take on the 1/15/05 cruise. Fortunately, we tried them on before we packed them. We were able to find some summer clothes at the Limited too and Boscov's.

Hi Mark:

Thanks for the generous offer. We are arriving at MCO at 6:31 p.m. and staying at the Hyatt at the airport the night before. There is a beach wear store at the airport but I can imagine how expense it will be. I was thinking of taking a taxi to a walmart if it isn't too far from the airport. And if that doesn't pan out, we will just wait until Key West.
