Twice while driving to one of the parks I think it was MGM or AK) for EE I have been stopped at the toll booths behind a line of cars. They were not letting us go until it was the same time as the EE was going to start!

Was this because the first cars in the line were not peolpe staying on property and it was just my timing to be behind them. And yes it was all lanes except the Bus lane. When I did get in there was already cars parked! How did they get in? Do you just have to beet the off property guests? Can you get in thru the Bus lane?

I'm so confused...and worried because I plan to drive to AK and we have 8:05 PS in the park on a non EE day. Will I make it in the parking lot? Would you try the bus lane if the others were blocked and not moving?

The bunch of cars you saw were more then likely the cars of the Cast Members working at the park that day.

It was probably at AK.

When did this happen to you?

Len Testa, who is from the "Unoffidcial Guide to WDW", is/was trying to gather information from anyone that this happened to recently. They could put this fact into the guide.

Anyway, this happened to use in May of 2003 when we had a behind the scenes tour booked at AK. I walked up to the toll booth and said I had reservations and it didn't matter. I couldn't get in. The CM at the toll booth said that WDW expects the cars to be from off site. People wanting to get to EE would use the busses. That way, the CMs at the turnstyle wouldn't have to ask to see room keys.

But you can get into the MK parking lot at 7AM.

It is very frustrating trying to understand the different WDW policies.

That is happening!! We do not care to use their bus. Long reason, but I do want the right to drive to the parks!!! In the past we have done this with out problems. I would be very unhappy.

My suggestion is to just take the bus. ;)

Well heck! this is good info to know. how come they don't tell you that if you plan on using EE you have to take WDW transportation?!?!?!

Is this true for the gates before you get to the TTC at MK as well?

I prefer to take my own car even when i stay onsite so i can keep snacks/lunch in the car, (cooler) an extra set of clothes if any of us get soaked on a wet ride and don't want to stay that way, it is much easier to transport the stroller and all the bags needed when bringing along a baby.....all sorts of reasons.

Guess i have to choose between EE and schleping all that stuff on a bus OR no EE and taking my own car to the parks.

Annoying too, because one of the perks promoted for staying on-site is that you receive FREE PARKING at the parks!!!! (ever notice how the $8. resort fee exactly matches the $8. parking fee? LOL)

Why can't they just open a lane for resort guests? Have a CM stand there directing traffic?

My friend was staying at WL in August. The took to the ferry to MK for EE and it got them there late. She was unhappy about that, as it was the most crowded time of year and the park was already quite full and busy by the time they were able to get there using Disney transportation.

It really sounds line a no win situation. Disney needs to fix it.

What resort fee? Have they added one to the Disney hotels? I knew the Swan and Dolphin had one, but didn't know the Disney ones had one.

I just use the bus lane. I have done it many times and I have been waived in without any issues. As long as you have your WDW resort parking pass displayed so the gate guard can easily see you are from a resort, you should have no problems.

Besides what are they going to do if they do not want to let you in...block the bus lane? I think not.

Like a previous poster I had planned to drive to Mk from ASMO on the EE day.

I am kind of a control freak and would like to have control of when we arrive. I want to be at the entrance at 7:30 and am concerned that th ebus may not get there when I want!!

What to do???

Is this happening at all the Parks? We always prefer to drive ... so much quicker and more convenient.

Does anyone know what time each of the parking lots open? I'd be interested in that info.

Is this still happening? I plan on going for early entry and, like others, want to use my own car for travel. I'll be ready to use the bus lane if I have to.:(

BTW - anyone know what time the monorail and fairy to MK begin running from TTC for early entry days at MK?

WE really can not use bus, long medical story. We have tried them before, just not a good thing for us.

You cannot use the bus lane at MK - the buses go to MK, while cars have to park at TTC.

Disney needs to state their policy more clearly - something to the effect that 'you can only use EE if you are willing to use Disney Transportation'. Or have a designated onsite lane at each park.

I'd be incredibly frustrated if I had to sit in traffic at the gate while EE was going on, which is why we always use the buses.

Sure you can. Once through the gate, you can bolt over to the left lanes, the ones that take you to the parking lot.
