My left eye-lid never twitches, but these last few days it's been twitching all the time! It's driving me nuts.

OK, it must be something in the air, because MY left eyelid was twitching like mad yesterday!

Thankfully it stopped be cause it was driving me

OMG.... I thought I was the only one that had to deal with that. It only happens like once in a blue moon, but it drives me fargin' nuts!!

Whenever that happens to me, I tell people "Look away, I'm hideous!"

Try living with it on a daily basis. I have what is called Blepharospasm. Basically an eye twitch. I have to get Botox injections every 5 to 6 months to control it. About a week after my injection, my eye really droops and it looks like I am drunk off my butt.

I hate any pictures taken during this time. But after that wears off, I am fine. Before I was getting the injections it was miserable :sad2: and enough to drive you

It happens to me occasionally. Also, to my thumb. I'm sure it would drive me crazy if it was more often, so I'm not making light of those with a serious problem, but on occasion I think it's kind of fun. I know, I'm strange. But often it would get very annoying and if it was often enough for botox it would be past annoying!

I have had an off again, on again twitch in my left eye for about 9 months now. It will go away for a couple of days and then come back with a vengence! It is such a strong twitch that people can actually see it, they ask me if I have something in my eye. I know that it has to do with stress, the more stressed out that I get, the harder it twitches. I am beginning to think that it has turned into a tic!!

That's how mine started. For the first couple years it was on again, off again. Then it got to where it was all the time. First the doctor's said it was stress. But when I was really stressed, it didn't twitch at all, and when I wasn't stressed, when I knew I was relaxed, it was going ninety to nothing.

Finally after putting up with this, I figured it out by during a web search. It was another year before a doctor said, "Yes it is Blepharospasm". (FINALLY!!! duh! :furious: ) So they put me on medication for a couple years until that wasn't working. Now it is botox.

But that 2nd week after the botox I absolutely hate.

What kind of medication did they try before the botox? I recently had a little surgical proceedure done on the twitchy eyelid recently (nothing to do with the twitchy), and I have sworn, as god is my witness, I will never let anyone give me shot in my eyelid again. It was absolutely horrible.

I was on Tegretol. It is an anti-seizure medicine. But I have to say the botox injections aren't that bad. They use a much smaller needle for it and it is just a small prick. Once they have done the first injection the other 5 aren't too bad. (Yes I get a total of 6 injections each time- 3 above my eye and 3 below)

Right now I am over due for my injections but my Dr. is out on a family emergency for about 6 weeks.

Tigger&Belle - I know you weren't making light of it. I found that since I have had this for over 11 years, it is easy to discuss. I will tell anyone who notices exactly what I have. When you have one eye that likes to do what ever it wants ;) , you have to have a good sense of humor about it. :smooth:

I found one trick that helps out with the twitching (especially when I am reading). I use one or two fingers to put a little pressure on the temple area near the twitching eye. This sometimes stops or slows the twitching. This worked for me when it first started.

Good--I'm glad you didn't think I was making light of it! :) I've ran into the bathroom to look in the mirror before when I've had the eye twitching to see if I can see if happening. Of course then it stops. The hand thing I've had since college and I think it has something to do with gripping since it would happen more when I was writing a lot. I would sit there in college and start staring at my hand, in a trance. Another example of me being a cheap date.

Now I'm hoping to talk my neuro dr into some botox for my wrinkles, I mean migraines. :rotfl: Hey, nothing wrong will killing 2 birds with one stone!

On my last couple visits, the Dr had some extra and since it can't be used on anyone else, he injected it between my eyes one time and then my left outer eye (so then I would be even as far as wrinkles are concerned). I thought that was pretty cool. :teeth:

Nothing like free wrinkle treatments. :thumbsup2

I think I am going to start looking like this :smooth: soon if I don't get my injections. I'll just wear dark glasses everywhere, including inside. :teeth:
