Stop Honking at Me! and other Driving Woes

I also don't like being behind bigger vehicles that I can't see around so I will speed up to pass one so I'm not stuck behind it.
So for some there are reasons to pass.
You could always slow down enough so you can see around the truck. Speaking of driving behind trucks - if you can't see the side view mirrors, the driver can't see you. You're following too closely.
I have a new one: Motorcyclists weaving in out of traffic and driving on the lane lines.
Lane-splitting (yes, there's a name for it.) It's illegal in most states, but stopping/ticketing is at police discretion https://www.motorcyclelegalfoundation.com/motorcycle-lane-splitting-guidelines/
Sorry, I'll fight you on this one. I will always wait a beat when the light changes. This allows for potential red light runners to clear the intersection without t boning me.
No! You mean drivers run red lights? Oh, the pain, the pain!! ;)

I'm not talking about tailgating, I'm talking about getting ahead of them before a bottleneck because I don't want to be behind their vehicle (and I'm not talking about tractor trailers specifically).
The pp doesn't think there is any reason to want to pass someone in that situation, I'm just telling her there is.

Oh sure, there are certain intersections I do this to when the light turns green because they are notorious for runners.

But when everybody's already stopped? Especially when it's not a "beat", but like 4 whole seconds before the brake lights go off. COME ON ALREADY!!!! AAARRRGGGHHHH!!!

Not from 1/4 mile back there's not. If you have to mash on the gas from that far behind to hit 10-15 mph over the speed limit to get around me then you are overly aggressive and obnoxious. There is no reason for that.

I'm not surprised you think that. You mention that people pass you on the shoulder, and they speed up to pass you before the bottleneck. Somehow I get the impression you might be the problem on the road if that keeps happening to you.
I'm not saying that what they do is always safe, but you said there is no reason. You are most likely the reason.
I bet I can even guess what kind of car you drive.

Ummm......yeah when I'm turning left and have stopped waiting for a break in traffic to turn off the road and people are driving OFF the road onto an unpaved shoulder I am clearly the problem.

Last summer I was driving to work early in the morning. No other cars in sight until the spot in the road where a 4 lane state highway (not a freeway, just a regular rural road, speed limit 55) was about to merge back to 2 lanes, one in each direction. I was driving 60 and in my rear view mirror saw a pick up come barreling down on me from what must have been at least a half mile back, no other cars in sight but he just HAD to get in front of me, must have hit at least 75 because he came screaming up behind me and pulled around me right at the merge point forcing me to slam on my brakes to avoid a collision. As luck would have it a state trooper was coming up in the other lane and had his lights on before the truck passed him. He pulled a u turn and pulled the guy over. I laughed pretty hard at that.

ETA: And no, it isn't just me. I see it happening to other people multiple times every single day. It is a very common problem around here.

Sitting at a light waiting to go straight with a long left turn lane yesterday. Light turns green, the first 3 cars go I glance over to the left and see the person on her phone finally realize that its green and start going - still on her phone, and then2 more cars come and yet another gap and when the car finally caught up that driver was staring at their phone too.

Driving distracted is bad - can't believe that people don't realize how much it affects their driving.

If you spot someone getting into their car, and are waiting patiently for them to move their car out of their space. Some people take a really long time.
Had to go back to remember that, lol.

That's my point. People complain because others take too long to load their car, get in their car, and vacate the space. My pet peeve is the people who can't just park in one of the further spaces and sit there while I'm loading my car or getting into it. I may not be leaving. Go find an empty space.

For me, the light runner situations are at crossroads, especially when you are on the secondary road. Had someone blast their horn at me for not going as a truck blasted through the red at guessing 70 mph.

At businesses when you are on the road, that's totally different. You stop at the red light and the clearly only 2 cars go through their greenlight and it cycles back to you and the airhead at the front has to finish their text or twitter garbage before going.

Aside from what others have said, I hate when drivers on uncrowded highways can't keep a consistent speed. I have my cruise on, catch up to a car in the right lane, so I get over to the left and pass them at the same speed, then get back into the right lane in front of them. Then they decide to speed up for some reason and now have to pass me. Inevitably I catch up to them again, still going the same speed, now I have to get over and pass them again.

I agree that in areas where parking spaces are limited, people should be kind and not take forever getting into their cars. I rarely go to places where parking is limited though. It seems like every time I go to the grocery store, a car follows me as I'm walking through the parking lot, stops behind my car (preventing other cars from going around), and waits impatiently (glares and all) for me to leave, while not really leaving me enough room to back out... All when there's 172 other open parking spaces. This drives me crazy because I usually have a full cart to unload, a toddler to strap in, and I sometimes don't intend to leave right away anyway, but feel like I have to because someone is glaring at me and holding up traffic waiting for my space. Sometimes I'm just dropping off bags before heading into another store in the plaza, or grabbing something I forgot out of the car, or need to look up directions for the next store I'm going to before leaving. Of course other drivers don't know that, but c'mon, if there's another open space 3 spots past mine, drive to it and leave me alone.

Other pet peeve is bikes and motorcycles on the road. Bikes don't need to be on a 55mph curvy road in the middle of the lane going 25mph.

Motorcycles are dangerous white lining and when they don't follow road rules. Recently, I was first at a stop light to make a left turn on a divided highway. Turn light was red, but traffic going straight and the opposite direction was green. A motorcycle came flying up on my right side in my lane, almost taking out my mirror, swerved in front of me, and crossed in front of oncoming traffic to make a left. Oncoming traffic had to slam on their brakes to keep from hitting him and the biker took the turn so sharply and at such a high speed that he almost overturned his bike.
