Stop Honking at Me! and other Driving Woes

Aside from what others have said, I hate when drivers on uncrowded highways can't keep a consistent speed. I have my cruise on, catch up to a car in the right lane, so I get over to the left and pass them at the same speed, then get back into the right lane in front of them. Then they decide to speed up for some reason and now have to pass me. Inevitably I catch up to them again, still going the same speed, now I have to get over and pass them again.

Check out my pp. I'm sure it's the same reason. They just HAVE to be FIRST!!!!!

I live on a pretty busy street, especially during rush hour. About 1/3 of the time when I'm getting home from work, someone honks at me when I slow down just enough to turn into my driveway. I usually try to keep myself calm by telling myself that they are just jealous that I'm already home.

One more--this morning I was stopped at the crosswalk in front of my kid's school. The crossing guard was standing in the road with his stop sign so that MY KID and a few others could cross. The second car in the oncoming lane decided to drive around the car that was stopped at the crosswalk. Luckily the guard stopped the kids and yelled and made a scene to get the driver's attention. I don't know what she was thinking--she was dropping her kid off too, so she knew it was a school crosswalk. If that guard had not been paying attention, it could have gone bad.

Sometimes those people take a long time because they don't like being hurried by somebody waiting for them in the parking lot. :smooth:

Had to go back to remember that, lol.

That's my point. People complain because others take too long to load their car, get in their car, and vacate the space. My pet peeve is the people who can't just park in one of the further spaces and sit there while I'm loading my car or getting into it. I may not be leaving. Go find an empty space.

There's a happy medium. Again, if you're loading your car, child, etc. into your car, personally I think I'd move along but if you just throw one thing into your trunk and get into your car, it shouldn't take you 5 minutes to leave your spot.

And sometimes there aren't further emptier spaces. There's a lot of places near me where parking is at a premium.

My biggest driving pet peeve is rubber neckers!!!! There was a wreck on Monday of this week on the Expressway I take to work. For some reason the vehicle hasn't been towed away yet. Everyday on my way home traffic has come to a standstill at that wrecked truck in the grassy median from people rubber necking at it.

I get annoyed with people who are overly nice while driving.
People are so polite here at four way stops, they are telling me to go when it is their turn. I feel that if people just went when it was their turn, it would go much more smoothly.

These are my husband's biggest pet peeve. We have a pretty busy 4-way stop near our house and he gets so mad at the "nice" people waving others on instead of just going in turn.

Had my biggest pet peeve driving this evening. I took dgd to her art class and had to go down the main highway through town that is really the biggest traffic issue we have. Especially from 4-7. Her class lets out at 5:50. So we are headed to her house and I am in the center lane going over the speed limit about 5 mph. Passing those on the right. Letting those on the left pass. Everyone is moving along fine.

I glance in my rear view and there is a car practically in my trunk!! He was so close I couldn’t see the front of his car! If I had been alone, it would have been tempting to brake check but had the little one back there. We get to a red light and he stays there just as close. He stayed just as close to me until there was a break in the left lane and he moved over to go around finally.

Only there was a pick up. And once they stopped at a light he got right on their bumper. The truck almost came to a complete stop. And just crawled along. Traffic was too thick for the tailgater to pass. I thought it was quite hilarious.

I cannot stand a tailgater.

Going to dd’s house there is a long highway from the interstate to get to their little town. I don’t know what the issue is but the folks down there are the worst about getting right on your bumper. It’s a two lane with lots of hills and curves so not many places to pass. I move as far to the right as I can so they can pass. Nope. They just stay there for awhile. Then they will be gone and I think they turned. Nope. Just slowed down and stay way back for awhile and then suddenly come right back and be right on your bumper. I asked Dd and sil about it thinking it had something to do with my driving. They said no that they do it to them too and no clue why. Dd drives pretty fast so it’s not going to slow. But it is very irritating.
