For all you coming down soon, wash, wash and wash your hands!!!

Make sure and use hand sanitizer after you serve yourself at a buffet too. It's super contagious and not fun, my sister is down here on vacation and her whole family has gotten it over the last 4 days. My BIL first, then my niece and now my sister.

We've seen and heard(yuck) many people getting sick, it's very wide spread. So just be careful!

Quel dommage...Much like the staff at Charlie Hebdo, they vomit on their new friends...

I'm sorry to hear they're sick -- to paraphrase Phil Collins, "It's no fun being sick on vacation."

How does Chalie Hebdo have anything to do with this thread?

Good advice, wash wash wash. Think of all the surfaces you touch at Disney. I think stomach bugs spread really fast, so you start throwing up a day or two after exposure. Things spread so fast since there are so many people in one area, like on cruise ships.

Hopefully it is quick moving and only a 24-48 hr bug.

Any time you are in close proximity to tens of thousands of strangers who come from all over the world you are going to be at risk for exposure to all kinds of potentially nasty bugs. Simple hygiene precautions like proper hand washing, not touching your face (or food) without cleaning your hands first, not licking the handrails, etc, should become second nature ANYTIME, not just when you hear of an outbreak of one kind or another.

Dammit I just love licking those handrails!

Yes, I've been at WDW for 8 days so far, and the bug caught up with me a few days ago. Stomach issues, fever, weakness. Nasty stuff. Fortunately it only lasted about 36 hours. So far nobody else with me has caught it.

Agree!

Washing your hands frequently is the best way. Make sure you sing Happy Birthday twice when doing so and have a paper towel ready before you wash...and don't shake water on another washer near you! So annoying.

I know it sounds like over kill but it works. Purel will not kill norovirus...soap and warm water will.

I heard clorox hand santizer will kill lots of stuff. Anyone know?

Yes, I know good ole soap and water, plus keeping your hands from your face, etc. is the best way, 'but' sanitizing gels have their place too - soap and water is not always available. May not kill all germs, but around here they are placed in Dr's offices, hospitals, and many stores.

Dh & I faithfully use them when out and about, especially when handling carts at stores, looking at Menus in restaurants (often an over looked germy surface) etc. We get very few 'bugs' including colds.

'All' sanitizers will kill some bugs, beats not using anything! We'll definitely take our chances with it!

Yep it doesn't last long thankfully!

It was so tough traveling with DS3 as he wanted to touch every single rail, rope, and partition in EVERY single line. We tried to keep him as clean as possible with lots of sanitizer and washing hands but he managed to come down with a bug on the last day and has had it all week. Def second washing hands and being careful!!

Yes....here now.....daughter had it thursday...:( feeling better today tho!!!! Hoping that's it for this trip...

If you are at a park and you start feeling bad.....head to the first aid station. We were at EPCOT in November and my husband had an earache. He went to the First Aid station to ask where he could find an Urgent Care facility. They gave him the names of a few but they also said that one of the Clinics has a van that would come to EPCOT and pick him up right at the First Aid station. (They go through a back entrance.) We had our own car so he drove himself, but it's good to know that you have options besides a taxi.

Lovely! We're headed down soon. I so didn't want to deal with illnesses.

Fwiw I'm on magical express now - was at wdw parks for the past 8 days, stayed at Pop - and other than some coughing I didn't hear of or see anyone sick. (I guess it's like any group of thousands of people. I.e., some will be ill, but I don't think you need to worry about an epidemic.)

I would add the following: wash and sanitize your hands especially after touching games in the interactive queues. And make sure your kids do a thorough job of washing their hands.
