Stoller/Carseat & the Airplane...

What is the EASIEST AND LEAST AGGREVATING way to deal with my 2 year old's stroller and carseat at the airport and plane?

Taking the stroller and car seat up to the gate - stowing the stroller and having him in his carseat on the plane (this is what we did last year.)
or
Checking the stroller and carseat (this means either he walks or we carry him.)

How do you do it?

We gate check the stroller. Get a claim ticket at the desk in the airport. We did not use a car seat for DS 22 months as we had Magical express. He fit well in the seat with a belt.

On our first trip we had the stroller and car seat. Deciding this was too much we bought the wheels that go on your car seat and make it a quasi-stroller. This worked very well and allowed us to check the stroller until about 6 months ago when DD was 18 months and the car seat positioned his feet perfectly to assault the back of the seat in front of him. For our trip 2 weeks ago we purchased the CARES harness. This worked great. We checked the carseat curbside and gate-checked the stroller. He enjoyed having his own seat and was use to the 5 point harness from his car seat. My only word caution about the CARES harness is not to let them see how the seatbelt works, because unbuckling the belt is good for hours of parental aggravation.

I would take the carseat on the flight. You can either put the car seat in the stroller and push it all to the gate and let your little one walk or you can put little on ein the stroller and get something to carry your carseat. I used a baby carrier (beco) for my ds at that age. So, he rode on my back and I dealt with the stroller/carseat.
