Stolen!

Do the buses have security cameras? If so then you might want to see if you can get a copy of the tape and turn it over to police.

Technically I think you lost it and the person that found it just didn't turn it in...It sucks either way but I would keep trying lost and found because ya never know. I would also speak to someone and ask if they have any camera's like yours because even though you lost yours on the bus someone else may have found it somewhere else and turned it in then it would be tagged from that place not the bus.

we had this happen to us- but on the plane on the way to our first trip/honeymoon at WDW.
For that reason we always put a return address label with phone number sticker right on our camera.
The best thing would have been to file a report immediately with the resort. i would still continue to call, lots of items show up later.
We also make sure when we sit on a bus, sit down for lunch, etc that all bags, or packs or whatever are around our wrist or ankle so that there's no way they can be accidentally picked up, or left behind. I like to send purchased items back to the resort from the store if they don't fit into the bag or backpack I have with me that day.
label EVERYTHING, like a kid going to camp. If it's important to do, label it. ;)
use a small luggage tag for camera strap and a label sticker ON the camera.
same thing with strollers too.
even our car- we tied ribbons on the back wiper so we could quickly identify our car. Or bring a magnet bumper sticker from home and slap that on.

Hope this helps others avoid our issue.

In addition to our camera being taken...on our trip on Oct 2008---

We actually had our rental car broken into at Typhoon Lagoon and our GPS stolen (which was removed from the window and between the 2 front seats)-poor security guy had been called for an emergency in the park and was gone for about 30 minutes. So we take our GPS into the parks with us now.

I disagree. They accidentally left it on the bus.

So yes, they left the item on the bus.

Somebody saw something that didn't belong to them and took it for themselves.

If it never got turned over to L&F, which as the days go by the likelihood gets less and less, than any way you want to slice it.. the camera was stolen.

So sorry! I know how it can ruin a vacation. December my new stroller was stolen. We filed a report and the lost and found at DHS said things are taken to the lost & found where they turn up and at the end of the night everything goes to the Main Lost & Found at the Ticket Transportation Center.

I hope you have better luck than me. My stroller never did turn up nor the items in the basket.

It sucks when that happens...Im so so sorry for you. Unfortunatly there are people out there that are not like you or me who would never dream of keeping anything like that if we found it. I had my diaper/baby bag stolen and it had my wallet in it with everything..driving license, green card, phone etc..the worst thing that got stolen though was my babies favorite blankie...he cried for days wanting his blankie. I didnt care about anything else...I just wanted his blankie back. I kept thinking mabey they would just take the wallet with cash and credit cards and dump the bag but no...we never got it back. It makes you sick to your stomach when that happens so I really trully sympathise with you. I know how bad you must feel but please try and not let it ruin your vacation..no good will come to them that took it, thats for sure. Hugs to you:hug:

I take a picture of my written contact info on each new memory card. It will be hard for anyone who is struggling about whether to return it or not to think that it "will just be too hard" because it is right there for them to see. I know of one person who had their memory card mailed back to them, although not their camera. It was a wonderful surprise because the pictures were worth far more than the camera. I am so sorry about the pictures and I pray that it isn't over yet and you get it back.

Ah, no, it wasn't turned in and kept by those who found it. I'm pretty sure that's stealing. I guess you believe "finders keepers" is still okay. I thought it was no longer "ok" after the age of 10.

Oh, that just sucks!

I'm actually really worried this will happen to me. I just replaced an ancient and bulky Fuji on a shoulder strap with a compact Canon. I just know I'm going to set it down somewhere . . . But I did read of a good thing to do. Either put your address on the memory card or make your FIRST picture an index card with your name and address. If the worst happens, you've probably lost the camera, but there's at least a chance that the memory card will show up in the mail anonymously.

Keep checking L&F - you never know.
-Kristin

That is what we do with the pic of the information. I also put one of our return address lables from home in the camera. Along with a tag with the hotel we are staying at and initials, resort phone no.

It may be good idea to put on the memory card if lost mail to...maybe at least someone would care to have the pictures returned.

I once saw someone in Ariels grotto leave their cam corder bag on the ground as they moved along. When i saw it not at their feet and resting along side someone down the line I just walked over and told them they left their case back there.
Like you said everyone is on vacation and knows how important DIsney memories are.

I sure hope someone turned it in and it will be on the way to you soon. A tip I read online once was to always put an address label in your camera bag, and add your cell phone number. Thankfully, I have never lost my camera but I hope if I do, someone honest will call me. Good luck! pixiedust:

We were on a bus last weekend when someone left their backpack behind. The bus driver stood for quite awhile waiting for someone to realize they left it behind and return for it. Finally another bus driver that was getting off duty took it over to the lost and found at the MK bus depot. I kept wondering when the owners would realize it was gone and if they would know where to look for it.
I know I thought we had something stolen from us when we were on the Disney Wonder. It was something personalized and it was very disappointing to find it missing our last night of the cruise. I thought for sure it had been stolen. A month later it showed up in the mail from the lost and found department. I emailed them about two other items we had lost that I thought we would just have to write off. Well, they preformed their magic and those also ended up in our mail box.
With that said....I hope your wrong about it being stolen and you indeed get it back!

This happened to us on DME when arriving at AKL in March 2008. We started flying at 1 am, landed at 5 pm in MCO and then arrived at AKL around 8 pm. It was a long day of traveling, and by the time we got to AKL, it was dark outside. My family of four were the last people on the bus after stops at Pop and Coronado. My in-laws were waiting for us at the DME bus stop when the bus pulled up. My DD13 was so excited to see them, she got off the bus before me and left her backpack on the seat--a messenger backpack that contained a new 8gb ipod that she received for her thirteenth birthday, a nintendo ds with five games, a change of clothes, new sandals, and a stuffed animal dog that has traveled the world with her since she was five years old.

We greeted the in-laws as the bus pulled away, and then DD13 realized that her bag wasn't on her shoulder (the bus was close enough that we could have run for it, and there are moments when I wish we had.) The front desk clerk immediately called DME at the airport so they could radio the driver and let him know the bag was on the second seat behind him (with no one else on the bus.) The clerk also called lost and found to get a ticket number so we could be notified when the bag was turned in.

At that time, I believed the bag would be returned; the odds were good the driver would receive the message and put the bag to the side until he dropped it off at Lost and Found. But as the hours passed, I began to realize it was gone for good. That first night DD13 went to bed crying about losing her stuffed animal; the ipod and nintendo stuff could be replaced but her stuffed animal couldn't. I think that was the hardest part--I just know the other stuff in the bag would be kept or pawned, but the old stuffed animal would be thrown away.

Anyway, sad story over. It was my daugher's fault the bag was lost, and I am glad to say this one incident did not ruin our trip. We are heading back to WDW this May and are positive at every stop we will doublecheck to make sure we do not leave a bag behind. Also, DD has found a new dog to travel with to Disneyworld.

So sorry! I know how it can ruin a vacation. December my new stroller was stolen. We filed a report and the lost and found at DHS said things are taken to the lost & found where they turn up and at the end of the night everything goes to the Main Lost & Found at the Ticket Transportation Center.

That happened to my BIL's parents. They took their two oldest grandkids to Disney and bought two new strollers for them incase they got tired walking. I believe it was the very last day at the parks, that one was stroller was stolen while they were in line. I am not sure if they had anything else in their stroller or not.

As a parent, for years I've been trying to (note that 'trying to', LOL!) teach my children to be responsible for their items, and to realize that taking valuable stuff on vacations, to the mall, to dance class, to school, etc. is a bad idea. Luckily, my girls haven't lost anything of sentimental value, or anything very expensive either. They lose their flashdrives a lot, but those are pretty inexpensive to replace.

We do not let them take all of their electronics with them when we travel - one thing should be enough, pick the iPod or the Gaming system, but not both. The favorite stuffed animal could travel with us, but was not allowed out of the hotel room, and had to be accounted for, on a chair or table (never in the bed!) before we left the room. Bags had to be small, and kept on for transportation and most rides (waistpacks or small backpacks) as having everything separate was just asking for something to be left behind. Cameras had to fit in a bag or pocket, never going in a separate travel bag. And I never even considered lugging the camcorder on vacation, as I wouldn't want to lose that either!

That said, one trip my oldest daughter lost her brand new (2 days old)cellphone on M:S, we claimed it at L&F 20 minutes later. Right after that we went on Soarin' and she left her hat under the seat... That one we got after the next ride cycle. Once I threatened to glue everything to her person with superglue, she was more careful.

Sorry about your camera, that sucks! I know a lot of people on here will tell you that it might turn up at the Lost and Found, and it still could. I really hope it does.

I lost my Guess prescription sunglasses on a bus to AK in Sept and never did get them back, I figured whoever picked them up probably threw them away when they figured out they were prescription. Although the CM's that helped me said they would turn up, they never did. My dd also lost her wand at MNSSHP and that never turned up either, it wasn't even a Disney one.

Technically I think you lost it and the person that found it just didn't turn it in...

Yikes:scared1: Thanks for your technical insight but "Technically" I dont think this comment helped the OP in any way whatsoever, I mean really...come on. Whats the matter with people these day that they cant say a kind word..they always have to analize everything.

OT - We lost or rental stroller last year. We parked it near the front of the park to ride the train round the park. When we got back it was gone. It had my little boys clothes and souvineers etc in it. When we went to the stroller depot to get a new one the CM that works there said he remembered taking it back in as he thought it had been abandoned. he even remembered the stuff that was in it. He said he sent it over the the main lost and found office. He said he was told to go collect abandoned strollers as they were running short. We walked over to the Lost and found office who informed us that the CM in the stroller dept would have never told us that story, nor did they believe they took it back...they insisted that it must have been taken by another guest.. we informed them that the CM even knew what was in the stroller. The finally agreed to check and see if the things were there. A different CM came out and informed us that anything in bags that were in abandoned strollers were automatically trashed. they refused to go through the trash. My 6yr old was crying as it has his fav shark shirt in it. They even refused to call the stroller depot to confirm this story. That kinda put a damper on our trip. Imean its one thing when your things get stolen by another guest but by Disney?? When I got home I wrote a howling letter to Disney complaining about what happened. They told me they were looking into the stroller being reclaimed issue and would get back to me. I forgot all about it and about 4 months later I got a lovely letter saying they had investigated and the stuff was infact being trashed from abandoned strollers. They had found the Stroller CM I spoke to that had passed the things to the lost and found before they were trashed. The matter has apparently now been resolved after numerous complaints. They also included a voucher for a new T shirt and items that were lost. Also a MK disney ticket for a day at the park. At least they righted the wrong but it goes to show you even if your lost and found does get into the hands of Disney there is still no guarantee you will get it back. Having said that I still have faith in Disney and Im sure that if it has been handed in you will get it back...its just so sad that there are so many dishonest people these days. I will keep my fingers crossed for you.
