Stolen Strollers?

Don't bring expensive strollers to WDW, don't leave anything of value in your strollers, don't use open tote bags as purses - make sure they zipper, be aware of your surroundings and people standing too close to you. Disney isn't magically crime free. I sat and watched enough security reports to know it happens more than you think. Gal in line at Pecos Bill with a large tote bag over her shoulder. Went to pay and her wallet, passport (she was international) and more gone. CM said the man behind her was acting strange ... Seen the family filing a security report for all their bags of purchases they left on stroller while they rode ... WDW isn't some magical bubble of safety. Security told one person that thieves buy an AP and come in regularly to grab and go home. No way to catch these people and your reports are nothing more than for your purposes. I would guess it mostly doesn't become public knowledge.

Now Disney did manage to catch a stroller thief (they stole often to sell) because the stroller itself stood out on the camera at the front entrance. $1800 stroller  that I imagine was a rare sight in parks. Remember folks will only steal what they can sell.

How do you protect your food from squirrels? I’ve seen them in action, and I’m about to have a stroller at WDW for the first time in 30 years of visits, so I’m interested to know!
Watching squirrels eat food out of strollers is part of the entertainment. They will open anything they possible can so my guess is double ziploc bag or plastic storage container (block smell) and put "out of sight".

WELL ..................... was in DHS today. I was a bit ahead of DS when he came running up hysterical. I asked what was so funny. He said a woman was running down the path chasing a squirrel. I'm thinking really, leave the animals alone. He said a man asked a child why she was chasing the squirrel (DS assume it was her DH and child). Child said squirrel stole her money. He thought she said a $20.

DS said he was probably trained to steal money and runs it back to his owner. :rotfl2:I mean what's he going to do with it? buy his own snacks?

Most reports are highly exaggerated, and mostly false. It really doesn't matter what any of us say, you do you.
Believe I shall and you know that all the reports are mostly false exactly how? Have a magical day

Agree with all of that except not taking the expensive stroller because of thieves although I don’t have anything approaching an $1800 stroller … there is a reason why most folks don’t choose to drive around in a ford festiva rather than their luxury SUV despite the auto theft epidemic, it’s comfort, performance, convenience etc so why would anyone expect less for their child’s ride? The reason for this thread was to discover if this was really happening and it has been without a doubt confirmed. That said I choose not to give in to the thieving vermin at Disney or any place else .. I will fight back, wish more would

WHAT??? Then why go? This is getting ridiculous. How can you even enjoy yourself if you are so paranoid about the "thieving vermin" at Disney? Maybe better to stay home??? I'm starting to think you are trolling us. At least I hope that is the case. Wow.

I’m hoping as well. The vast majority if responders, including a cast member, have pretty much agreed that theft isn’t an issue, can you imagine the reaction if folks actually agreed that theft is a problem?! Good lord.

I always bring our food with us. Once when we were about to go on Slinky Dog I saw a squirrel chilling in a stroller having a grand old feast. I alerted the closest CM - I guess I foolishly assumed they would shoo it away…nope. That was enough for me 🤷‍♀️

starting to think you are trolling us.
It took 85 posts to come to that conclusion?
I'm surprised how many people leave valuables in their strollers. The guest who had the $1800 strollers l stolen also had car keys, medicine (epi pen) and other stuff stolen.

Agree. My goodness this has to be the most paranoid, antisocial... i won't go on...zipping lips... topic ever! In a location where there's literally 100s of strollers squeezing into a relatively small footprint - why leave anything of value on said strollers. Invest in a craptastic stroller if you're afraid of it being moved, taken, held hostage or whatever.

Now that it has been unequivocally confirmed that the thefts are happening let’s get back to talking about important things like what will be the next novelty ‘collector’ popcorn bucket and the best ‘strategy’ to circumvent the rules to obtain half a dozen of them …. Also let it be known that Puppies are the cutest of all pets

Or we could talk about things that are *far* more likely to happen than having your stroller stolen (which has an infinitesimally small chance of happening). While at Disney you're far more likely to trip on a curb and twist your ankle; contract Norovirus; contract Covid-19; get sunburn; have your popcorn bucket stolen; lose the stroller child's stuffy, toy, blanket, etc., than to have your stroller stolen. You keep saying "it has been unequivocally confirmed that the thefts are happening" -- you make it sound like dozens of strollers are stolen every day at Disney World and that is just not true (also confirmed by a former cast member). There are probably dozens if not hundreds of people who panic and think their stroller was stolen only to find it was simply moved by a CM or other guest. I hope you've enjoyed your trolling here. And how many times are you going to say you're finished with this conversation before you stop coming back here trying to get in the last word and convince people that there is a high rate of stroller thefts at Disney every single day and imply that people should hire an armed guard to stay with their strollers while they're on rides??? You're focusing on the wrong thing. Again, you're going to spend your entire vacation worrying about a stroller being stollen that you're going to miss all the magical moments that are happening around you....and not even notice you left your backpack and popcorn bucket in the ride vehicle when you got off the attraction.

NOT. Brush up on your reading.

Skip the stroller and carry your grandchild. Imaginary problem solved

One poster, different thread, removes a wheel and carries it in a backpack. CM can move the stroller but the stroller isn't likely to be stolen. A suggestion for guests who are paranoid or bring a stroller worth 4X more then every other stroller.

This thread is entertaining, very little useful information.

Don't leave your car keys, medicine etc in your stroller. Probably not the end of the world if an animal steals a bag of chips

I used a stroller lock on the wheels. A hidden airtag on the stroller is not a bad idea either. I use them in my luggage now and it gives me peace of mind.

I thought about hiding an airtag but anyone that knows what they are will notice them so I have one of these right on the handle bar.

For comparisons, I see a very expensive SUV being used as an example vs a very expensive stroller brought up. Then again, expensive SUV's have all manner of anti-theft security systems, trackers, remote shut-downs, and of course a simple key or fob to even get into the door or code lock. They also tend to have expensive car insurance.

Now, imagine driving around that SUV with none of that. No key required. No anti-theft system. No tracker. No remote shut off. You also leave valuables in the car in plain sight. And... no car insurance. My guess, it would stay in a garage and never leave it much less go on a road trip. Assuming you would even buy on..

So comparing that with a $2k stroller is specious unless you want to do one of two things. The SUV has zero security, like the stroller. Or, your stroller has SUV level security. I'm sure there is an insurance company that will happily charge you a monthly fee to insure your stroller. Then it would be a fair comparison. Pick one. Who knows, maybe in the future expensive baby strollers will have facial recognition unlocks like smart phones that cost 1/2 as much.

I once stole someone's wheelchair for about 5 mins. It's a small world, DH transfer from scooter to a wheelchair. He gets in, I start to push him down the ramp......I noticed a phone in the pocket. Oh no, this isn't a disney chair,I almost dumped DH out trying to put it back. I just thought any moment the owner will come back and I'll go to jail.

Oh Sheryl … sadly I am all too familiar with motor vehicle theft .. hint thieves don’t give a rats rear about ‘anti theft devices’, including key fobs and door codes … they are in your car and gone if they want to be just like the merry band of Disney stroller/contents thieves …now there are certain ways to make it a ‘less than pleasurable experience’ for thieves but not everyone has the knowledge and will to take those steps .. anyway you have yourself a magical day!

An honest mistake is not theft, you are a good person

So it's an honest mistake when someone accidentally takes the wrong wheel chair but it's a theft when someone accidentally takes the wrong stroller or moves the stroller to a different location to be able to access their stroller or to fill in empty spaces??? Both situations are an honest mistake.
