Stolen Strollers?

I thought about hiding an airtag but anyone that knows what they are will notice them so I have one of these right on the handle bar.

Some of us siggest airtags in case a guest forgets where they left the stroller, a CM moved it or another guest inadvertently took the scooter and left it somewhere else.

Your lock may be overkill. It makes some sense if the scooter cost thousands.

Oh Sheryl … sadly I am all too familiar with motor vehicle theft .. hint thieves don’t give a rats rear about ‘anti theft devices’, including key fobs and door codes … they are in your car and gone if they want to be just like the merry band of Disney stroller/contents thieves …now there are certain ways to make it a ‘less than pleasurable experience’ for thieves but not everyone has the knowledge and will to take those steps .. anyway you have yourself a magical day!

Sounds like you see zero value in such systems and therefore do not have such things installed in your car. Or... you do have them but dont bother to use them since they make no difference. Too much effort to click a button. You sound like those guys from days long past that proudly refused to wear seatbelts in order to fight 'the man'.

I hardly think putting an airtag in a $20 lock is overkill especially if the concern is strollers being stolen. I NEVER worry about the stroller because I know that is locked on there. It's noticeable and can't be removed so would solve any concern of someone walking off with your stroller and give someone concerned piece of mind.

Just my opinion but since it deters anyone thinking of stealing and allows you to track it if so... really a no brainer to me for little cost.

Don't really see the relevance in cost of the item because whether it is a $50 stroller or a thousand dollar scooter, not having it can ruin your day in Disney.

Well, if I was forced to rent one from the parks I’d prefer the loss of a $50 stroller than a $1000 stroller.

You've clearly never met a NYC squirrel. I'd guess WDW squirrels are probably similar in terms of smarts.

We have a very pricey stroller and have visited Disney hundreds of times with no issues.

Yes, it absolutely happens! Usually to higher end strollers. Our double stroller is about $900 so we have always brought a bike lock (you can only lock it to itself NOT to Disney property or a CM will cut off the lock!) and havent personally had issues but know of people who have had their strollers stolen at both Disneyland (had APs there for 17 years) and World. This time we will likely rent one from an outside company vs lug ours back. I would overly worry about it but don't leave anything of value in there maybe put some bright tape on the handles or do something to make it easily spotted in a sea of other strollers. CMs will absolutely move them so, so having something to spot it is so helpful when its not where you left it. Have a great trip!

We have been 4 times using a Stoller and have never had any issues with a stroller being stolen, cast members will move them in the stroller section to make room, but most strollers are labeled with family names. It is helpful you could use an air tag to easily locate it once you get off the ride. I also would not leave anything valuable in it while you ride

I would never take a very expensive stroller to the parks, we always took our city Tour or when we had the two kids the city mini double.
I put an airtag in one of the pockets, no one knows it's there and it also helped me find the stroller when the CM's ultimately move them around.
I know they do get stolen every now and then, but it's not that it is super common.

I personally wouldn't bring an expensive stroller to the parks, but what I'd be most concerned about being stolen is any personal items you leave in it. A shopping or diaper bag could be easily swiped and you'd have a much more difficult time locating that than a large stroller. We usually just bring our old, reliable stroller that's a bright color so we can see it easily. And anything left in it is replaceable like diapers/wipes, water cups, or extra changes of clothes.

I've seen so many recent posts, not just here, from people who have had stuff stolen at Disney World. One person even had her ears stolen off of the bathroom door hook at a Disney restroom. Someone reached over, and grabbed them.

Just because you are at Disney World does it mean to let your guard down and not worry about your stuff. If I brought an expensive stroller I would air tag it at the least. And never leave anything in it you would be sad to have missing when you went back to your stroller.

That's essentially my strategy as well. I typically use my city mini - which I would be upset if it was stolen but it's also so common now that it doesn't seem to be a very big risk.

I'm not sure your intent of all these posts. I think everyone is in agreement that theft is wrong and shouldn't occur. But unfortunately it does occur. Nobody here can stop it, though there are things one can do to help prevent being a victim of stroller theft -- renting, not taking an expensive stroller, marking your stroller in a way that's easily recognizable, not leaving anything with your stroller, etc.


Honestly, with the vast numbers of strollers that enter the WDW park gates each and every day of the year, we would all personally know at least 1 family affected if this was such a big problem. While based on truth of limited past thefts, the "threat" of it happening has taken on a life of it's own through the Internet.

Maybe place a tracking device hidden on the stroller that way you and security will be able to track it.

If you really followed this thread since early January you should have seen the posts below which includes the very first reply (post #2). Or possibly you simply forgot because the thread hasn't been active for 2 months.

I agree rudeness isn't necessarily but it does get frustrating when older posts are revived without anything new to add to a (multi-page) discussion that had ended weeks earlier.

We also hide a Tile in the stroller so we could track it with our phone and ring it to help find it.

Stroller rental companies started putting GPS devices on the strollers to track them.

The air tag suggestions were to help locate a stroller which moved or if you forgot where you left it. Also offered as a suggestion to the paranoid who fear theft

It is helpful you could use an air tag to easily locate it once you get off the ride.

If I brought an expensive stroller I would air tag it at the least.

It’s funny when I see the ideas to keep squirrels at WDW from getting into things. I can’t ride some things at WDW so I used to sit where all the strollers were parked near Splash Mountain in years past near the fence where the shade was. I have seen squirrels manipulate zip bags, zippers and even Tupperware to get into things. They are persistent….very persistent and smart. I told one family that they needed to throw some food away and that a squirrel had gotten into their plastic ware and they didn’t believe me because it looked undisturbed. I’ve seen squirrels dragging off zip bags out of the strollers and jumping up into the kids area to work on crumbs. Very disgusting.
