Just wanted to give everybody a heads up that strollers do get stolen at Disneyland. We just got back for a 13 day Disney Vacation.

On 6/5 we went on pirates it was a walk on so by the time we came back out my Great Nieces stroller was gone. By this time fantasmic was going so it was dark. At first we thought the cm's had moved it but we looked all over for it. They called security he came over searched for another 15 mins. by this time my Niece was in tears. We had another 8 days of vacation and no stroller plus everything that was on it was now gone.

Security escorted us up to lost and found to make a report. Then they took us in the back stage to make a police report with the Anaheim PD. They said it does happen that people take strollers go through them looking for stuff of value.

My sister took the baby back to the hojo since we had nothing for her at the park it was all on the stroller. My niece and I continued to search the park hoping somebody ditched it. We had given hope and just sat down at the hub it was around 11:45 PM when Disney called and said they found it. Security from down town Disney called it in and it matched the description we had given them.

She has a expensive Bob stroller with attachments so we thought for sure it was gone. Plus she collects Disney pins for her daughter and puts them on the stroller hood. It had other things of value on it but I guess the criminal was a real idiot. All they took was a 15.99 empty camera case and a 9.99 extra cheap battery from ebay in it.

For the record we cover the stroller whenever its left so nobody can see anything plus put the lock on it to prevent it from rolling. The next day we went and got a bike lock and lock the wheels with that. Never in a million years did I think this could happen. I've gone to Disney for years and never had a problem or heard of anybody getting a stroller stolen.

It's not common but it does happen. :sad2: At least you got the stroller back, the Bob's aren't cheap. One thing I appreciate about Disney is that they do make real, concerted effort to get it back for you. But yes, it does happen, years ago I saw a man who clearly had stolen 3 people wallet's... I was just observant and figured out what had happened, I did my best to get to a CM, and security was just a minute too late. He got away. But they were checking all the trash cans in the area, I hope some of the wallets got found.

Sorry to hear that happened. It's a pain when things go wrong on vacation.

So sorry this happened to you.:sad2: This year will be our first taking a stroller.

Is there anyway you can "Lock the stroller?" . I know you cant lock them to a pole or anything as the CM's may have to move them. But is there any other way??:confused3

How did you lock the wheels with the bike lock??

Putting a lock on a stroller is a huge pet peeve of the Stroller Attendant CMs. If you don't put your stroller in the correct spot and in an ordinary manner and you have a lock on it, be careful. CM's will move it to another attraction as revenge for making thier job harder as they try to organize the strollers. True Story.

So be careful of your stuff and mindful where you put it.

Kind of like leaving your car parked in a highly visible area, and not leaving your purse in the passenger seat.

Well the next night when we all wanted to ride TSM in DCA my sister locked the stroller up to the railing overing looking water. It was out of the way and she made sure she wasn't blocking anything. Well when we got off TSM security was waiting for us. He let us know you can't do that and said strollers are safe at Disney. Ya Right!!

What we did was just loop the bike lock from tire to tire after that.

Still can't believe we got the stroller back with the extra attachments on the stroller it is close to 500.00. Plus she probably has close to 25 pins on the stroller hood but she buys the locks to put on them. We also had a ziploc bag full of trader pins, and a baby bon jour under the stroller.

The thing that broke my heart the most was Gracies first Minnie Mouse T-shirt was on that stroller. On her first visit last year she was only 4 lbs and the only disney clothes that fit her was build a bear clothes. Well on this trip we bought her the disney build a bear and put her first Minnie shirt on it. We love Disney and little things like that mean a lot to us.

Disney did give her a voucher for a stroller rental, can of formula, and a bottel.

When the stroller was stolen it was on that ramp that goes down the side of pirates. It was parked in the stroller parking area at the vary end by the garbage can towards the Tarzan tree house end. When we came back all that was parked on that end was Disney strollers. So we thought they had just moved it because other people couldn't find there stroller at first either.

I think before we go back for Halloween we will try and a stroller wheel lock. I've heard they make something like that. Just need to find it.

Well that stinks! Is it safe to park a stroller where all of the other strollers are at an attraction?

OP...so sorry to hear about what happenned! I was just debating in my head the other day whether or not I should bother with a lock of some sort. Your looping the lock through the three wheels sounds like a great idea, but now I worry about what CMs will do as it does make their job harder.

In general it is but there are always exceptions.

Just like with cars. Many times more cars are broken into for what is in the car, than to actually steal the car.

So if you have a stroller thieves would want, it's a higher risk. If you have a pile of stuff on a stroller it's a much higher risk, because it could have a camera or wallet in that stuff.

I was the official "Watch the Stroller Grandma" this year? I mentioned before I had to go back to DL Hotel and daughter was just going to leave stroller with all the new sweat shirts and other items she just bought. Who raised that child LOL. I told how about I take the stuff with me and leave at hotel. She jumped at that. One suggestion if you do buy stuff have it sent to the front area. You can get on way out. Might take a few mins but sure better then spending extra money replacing stolen items.

I am thrilled you got stroller back and pins were untouched. Ya, who ever took was an idiot once they chose to take an item not theirs.

OP, do you mean that you already had a lock of some sort on the stroller before it got stolen? Or are you referring to the stroller brake?

OP - glad to gear the story had a happy ending

Observation for everyone's benefit: DH and I are constantly amazed at how much stuff people leave in an unattended stroller. We just don't get it. People would not just place their backpack, cameras, and souvenirs they've bought all day long on a bench, walk away for upwards of even 15 minutes and expect everything to be there upon return; yet, they do the same with a stroller. Why??? If you care about it, why leave it unattended? Obviously you can't do much about the stroller, but why on Earth do people expect 1,000s of dollars of stuff to be safe simply because it's in a stroller? Protect your things, take them with you... You would if you didn't have a stroller.

As revenge???

I highly doubt revenge is the motive. Maybe it's because it's not where it's supposed to be, just like parking patrol moves your car if necessary - not due to revenge, but due to necessity and correcting what you should have done.

P.S. My brother and SIL have a very cheap stroller that they bought specifically for traveling and going to high tourist locations. They leave their BMW-of-a-stroller safely at home. Just a travel tip to consider.

I'm so glad to hear you got the stroller back, that is just awful. Never ceases to amaze me how people can be.

We were afraid this would happen to a wheelchair of a family member. Once he transferred on to a ride. We had his name all over it, but it wouldn't have surprised me. Thankfully it didn't, he would have in trouble without it.

I wonder if whoever took it had a child. It seems strange that they would wheel it empty all the way over to Downtown Disney. And then hardly take anything. My bet is they put their child in it and then ditched it in DTD before they got on the tram to the parking lot. The items taken could have been taken after it was ditched.

Thanks for the reminder. I was already planning on a stroller lock, (or debating about it). I probably will see what the competing strollers are. We just will have a nicer umbrella.

As for leaving stuff in the strollers- we may-but its all stuff that if it gets 'lost' it won't be that big a deal. Sippy cup, snacks, etc. I always have anything of value on my person. But, maybe the larger issue is whether or not it has anything of value is if it might attract attention it will.

We had our stroller taken back in 2005. People can be pigs even transcending the magic of Disney.

I thought that too, but I would think it would be easier for the person "borrowing" the stroller to take a generic Disney one instead of OP's distinguishable one. Proves how criminals just don't think.;)

I bought a stroller lock for my upcoming trip. I got it at Babies R Us and spent $12 for it. Much better to be safe then sorry. I don't have an expensive stroller, it cost $89 dollars, but the trip will be ruined if it "disappeared".

I'm very glad she got her stroller back.

My humble suggestion for her next trip to Disneyland is to not put pins and other cute things on her stroller--and definitely don't leave anything like a camera bag (even if it is empty) in the stroller. You don't want to make your stroller look desirable to thieves.
