Stocking stuffer ideas for 1 year old DD

Anyone have any ideas for stocking stuffers for a 1 year old? DD just turned one in Nov. She's too young for candy except for maybe lollipops. I may put in some barrettes even though her hair isn't really long enough yet for them. I also have socks (everyone is getting socks). She's not really into dolls yet and we already have a ton of stuffed animals (the in-laws favorite present apparently!). Anyone? Help!!

When my dd was that age I got the little snack sized bags of goldfish and pretzels (instead of candy). She thought it was the GREATEST thing in the world that I let her open the pretzels right after she got them and she walked around the tree eating them and coming back for more one at at time even before breakfast- she didn't even care about the rest of her gifts!

How about a musical instrument - harmonica or recorder (Dollar store has them), a small purse, a hat or mittens, a 'boa' (those dressy scarf things - they have these at dollar store too - they have really bright colors), a change purse or wallet, lots of books (can never have too many of those) and good for ANY age IMO and great for filling stockings is SOCKS - lots of different colors, princess ones, etc.

Maybe some bath toys? Also the ZooPals plastic silverware (my kids loved these and it encouraged them to use utensils, rather than their fingers).

Be very mindful of the choking hazards in some of the mentioned items. Check labels closely and be sure that the item is intended for an infant. No item that will fit completly inside a tolet paper roll is safe. Items like boas from the dollar store can have feathers that come off that can be a choking hazard too. Remember she has NO clue what is suppose to be in there. Just a few fun safe items will be perfect. i love the bathtoy and book ideas. There are some great stories now fomated into board books!!!

How about stacking cups? I put these in my dd's stocking when she was 10 months. She loved them and still plays with them. At that age, they will have fun nesting them inside each other. Now she stacks them and yells "Timber" as she knocks them down! Just be sure to get the kind with little holes on the bottom of them, to prevent suffocation (and makes great bath toys)

Thanks everyone for the great ideas. I got her some princess sippy cups today and the stacking cups that I'll have to take out of the package most likely to fit in her stocking. I'm very leery about choking hazards with her...she only has 2 teeth so far and she is starting big time again on the next set so EVERYTHING goes into her mouth right now. I don't even buy small stuff for DS3 yet just because whatever he plays with, she play with. We got him the marble run for his 3rd birthday but only let him have a couple of the marbles out at a time because I'm so afraid DD will get them.

So, she has the sippy cups, stacking/nesting cups, barrettes, socks and Cinderella DVD (starting her early on becoming a princess!!). I hope to find some chunky board books yet too. I like the animal cracker idea for a "treat" and probably will see if I can find a santa lollipop too somewhere that she can have (supervised of course). I think she is all set!

Having DS first, I feel like I am so out of it with the girl stuff. I've never been a 'girly-girl' myself so a lot of that type of stuff is WAY foreign to me. Not sure if DD will be a girly-girl or not yet. Since she'll always want to keep up with her brother I'm thinking probably not but who knows.

my DD is 13 months and I am getting her these new 'chunky' crayons out from Crayola. They fit in her hand and she loves them, so I bought her more for the stocking. I also got Little People and a book, I will look for the princess sippy cups though! Great idea!

I bought dd1 1/2 a small cinderella doll and pacifiers to put in her stocking... along with some candy ( I know bad mommy)

In our house the stockings are filled with candy(which we don't have often!) and maybe one or two special treats. The kids love getting all the good, fun candy that they never are allowed to have! So when there has been a baby in the mix (and I have had 4!) I've put in nuks and nukkie clilps (if they used them!), sippy cups, zoo pals utensils, gerber fruit snacks, gerber puffs, small treat sized boxes of cheerios, tiny juice boxes, goldfish, zweiback toast, and if I was going to do a lollipop I either got a huge one that they couldn't swallow, or a ring pop, so I knew they wouldn't hurt themselves with the stick.

HTH! I love filling stockings with this kind of stuff, and I'm sad that the real "baby" years are over. My ds2 is getting all the fun kind of candy that the other kiddies are getting this year!

I'll have to see if I can find the chunky crayons for her. When DS3 is doing art projects she loves to try and color but she doesn't quite have the hang of it yet. The chunky crayons may help. Mostly she just likes to dump all the crayons on the floor!

I found some marshmallow "candy canes" at Toys-R-Us which will be great for her. Just will need to cut them into bite-sized pieces first. 10 for .99, I think.

Only 4 more days!!!
