I just received my Disney Annual Report. Included was an insert, offering shareholders a "free vacation" if they buy DVC. Small print on the back said the incentive is really 125 Developer's points.
I think the era for true shareholder perks ended around 1990. Before then there were some great benefits for shareholders of many public companies. Disney was among them, but no longer.

I believe the OP was referring to the fact that the shareholder benefit is no better than the discount anyone can get. Disney shareholders used to get incredible discounts, but those days are long gone.
