Stitch's Great Escape...A Mom and Me Birthday Celebration! *7/26 Link to new PTR*

You've got one great kid! I love that you let him have 'his time' at the arcade.
The private dinner is fabulous. I can't wait to see the grand finish.
We had so much fun at our private dinner. It was great! And the arcade was a lot of fun too! :thumbsup2

That private dinner looks great!
:thumbsup2 It was even better than it looked!:cloud9:

So far that meal looks absolutely delicious!
I wish I could have brought the chef home with us (and the pastry chef and especially the butler).

Oh my goodness Jay, I am loving your special trip with Stitch so far. I am finally all caught up and I have to say, once again, that you really know how to do Disney!!! I hope sometime I will be able to take special one-on-one trips with my children. What a special time for you both. I just can't help but think of how special all those memories will continue to be for Stitch as he gets older and has children of his own. I would bet that he just may continue the "tradition" with his own children. How special would that be!!

Oh, oh, oh...just imagine the thought of taking special trips with your grandchildren.....well into the future, of course!!!!:cool1:

Again, I am loving your TR; and the start to that perfect Disney birthday celebration dinner is amazing. I can't wait to see the incredible dessert they came up with.
I fully intend to make a tradtion of taking our grandkids! I am hoping we even get a few big family gatherings in with all of the boys and their families one day! :rotfl: It doesn't hurt to start planning early. ;)

what an amazing dinner you are having!! I can't wait to see the dessert you had!! Speaking of desserts.....do you have a picture of this special cake from Goofy's 8th bday? I didn't see that TR.
Here are a few pictures. It's in our 2007 trip report.

I'm so impressed and its only halfway through dinner! I wish you could plan my next birthday! Can't wait to see the dessert, I bet its spectacular.
Ha ha ha. I love to plan surprises of any kind. Refer your family to me for some birthday planning fun. :thumbsup2

wow...can't wait to hear about the rest of your dinner! THe first part looks really cool! I'm sure he was completely suprised!
He was so surprised and he really liked it even more than I expected he would. It was a great treat for both of us!

Super, super, super!!! This is the way to turn 8 years old! :thumbsup2 I like how the private dining CM got all of your likes and dislikes and then had the chefs do it up for both of you! Stitch looks as if he is going to burst from happiness, you rather have that look too. ;) What a great evening! Can't wait to see dessert! :woohoo:
It was great how the chef was able to design custom meals to perfectly fit each of our tastes. Amazing! I love the GF chefs!

What an amazing surprise and birthday dinner......can't wait to hear what's next on the menu! :goodvibes
I cannot wait to share it with you either!

Jay

What a fun day for you and Stitch. Those pictures are fantastic. I can't wait for dessert. My favorite part.

I will be the big 60 in July. Will you plan my party? Disney works for me. I'm sure you can plan something better than my DH could. I think he is planning on taking me to Kansas City for the weekend.

Can't wait to read more. Keep it coming. It is so enjoyable to see a Mom getting that one-on-one time with each child. Lucky you.
Ginny
Just call me the party planner. :rotfl: Tell dh to give me a call...we can whip something into shape. ;)

What else can I say? Love it, Love it, LOVE IT!! :woohoo:
It was such a great night. I was so in love with it too. I don't think either of us stopped smiling for the entire night (even once we fell asleep). :goodvibes

Oh my...I am DROOLING! Can't wait to hear about the rest!
Very shortly I will be posting the next update! :)

Ha ha ha. Very soon...I am working on it. :surfweb::laughing:

Wow what a great surprise! You are the best with surprising your family at Disney. The dinner looks amazing and I love the view and pictures.

Day 3 An AMAZING Evening Part 3

Our next course was our main course. And boy, OH BOY, was it good. My main course consisted of a very tender (melt in your mouth)grilled filet accompanied by sautéed shrimp and mushrooms, served
with sautéed brocollini and roasted potatoes and topped with a rich saffron cream sauce . *I am drooling just thinking of it!*
wdwandhomewintero9199.jpg

The chef couldn't have done a better job in designing a dish just for me. I enjoyed every single bite. And more importantly, Stitch loved his plate full of goodness. The chef really outdid himself with Stitch's meal because he was able to keep everything plain yet make it all so tasty. He really listened to the tastes/likes of Stitch and kept to them while creating his meal. Stitch dined on very tender grilled filet accompanied by homemade french fries, corn and corn bread.
wdwandhomewintero9200.jpg

Stitch gave his main course his clean plate seal of approval!
wdwandhomewintero9202.jpg

In keeping with how right on everything about the evening was, our wonderful butler (one of my favorite CMs ever) had timed our meal so that we were just finishing up with our main courses as Wishes started. Before Stitch's surprise dessert was brought out, we sat and enjoyed just being with each other (he was cuddled up in my lap) while we watched Wishes.
wdwandhomewintero9201.jpg

As we cuddled together, I was really looking forward to his next surprise. Six (out of seven) of his past birthday cakes have shared the same theme, Toy Story. He is a huge Toy Story fan. Coming up with a theme to request for his dessert was a total no brainer! Having only given them a theme and a budget, I had no idea what the final creation would look like (I had a few 'hints' by the way of questions about things we did or did not like taste wise...but that was it). When I saw it, I was speechless. Me...the girl who could take two paragraphs to describe waiting in line for a ride. Ha ha.
It was one amazing tray of Toy Story goodness!
wdwandhomewintero9203.jpg

wdwandhomewintero9213.jpg

The tray included frosted sugar cookie sheriff's badges, Woody printed on white chocolate, a solid chocolate fence (with crunchy little sugar bushes in front of it) and a horseshoe (which was dusted with gold powder), coconut haystacks, a chocolate boot (with a snake wrapped around it..."there's a snake in my boot") filled with strawberries and fresh whipped cream *OH SO GOOD!*. That was just the "Woody's Round Up" portion of the tray.
wdwandhomewintero9209.jpg

wdwandhomewintero9210.jpg

wdwandhomewintero9212.jpg

The boot even had designs on it like embossed leather.
wdwandhomewintero9229.jpg

Snacking on a sheriff badge.
wdwandhomewintero9206.jpg

wdwandhomewintero9230.jpg

Next came the "Toys" portion which included orange safety cones which were really vanilla cake covered in orange fondant (with butter cream frosting underneath), carrot cake 'tables' from Pizza Planet with white cream cheesy tasting tablecloths and tiny little slices of pepperoni pizza (made by hand out of something like fruit leather, gummy stuff and white chocolate shavings for the cheese) and 'the gang' of toys were screened on to yet another piece of white chocolate.

Day 3 An AMAZING EVENING Part 3 (and a half)

--continued from last post--

Finally mini flying saucers which were really cheesecakes in disguise, truffle planets with chocolate rings, the MOST INCREDIBLY DETAILED LGM's. They were sculpted in 3-D and were jaw dropping in their detail and cuteness, another white chocolate cut out...this one of Buzz Lightyear, fondant ball planets and one totally amazing spun sugar universe in the background. That all represented the "To Infinity and Beyond" portion of the tray.

Notice the little planets which were part of the background! I have no clue how they did that, but it was INCREDIBLE!

wdwandhomewintero9223.jpg

Both of us enjoyed our special dessert tray. Stitch dug into the spaceship cheesecake and sheriff badge cookies while I enjoyed eating strawberries and cream out of the chocolate cowboy boot. Neither of us could stop smiling!

Our entire evening was out of this world amazing! I cannot imagine a better way to celebrate my little 626's 8th birthday (unless we could have flown in the rest of the family just to enjoy the desserts with us ;) ). The man behind the perfect timing, service and lots of friendly conversation was our butler for the night. Both Stitch and I thought he was great!
wdwandhomewintero9225.jpg

Getting what was left of the dessert platter (which was quite a bit since only two of us were eating it) back to the CSR was quite an adventure. Our butler was great and he gave us an old tray to put the dessert board on so that we could take it with us. He even walked us all the way out to the valet where he said goodbye while the valet was waving over a cab for us. The valet helped us get into the cab (seriously, help was needed, the tray was HUGE) and we were helped out of our cab by an equally helpful bellhop at the CSR. There was no way I could have gotten in or out of that cab without help! ;)

The bell hop was so helpful that he offered us a ride on a golf cart to our room (we totally needed that too). And he carried our tray up to our room for us. All around, a great night for Disney service!

Once back to our room, we called up the guys back home and shared every single detail with them. A night like this was very sweet one on one but both of us were wishing we could have shared this sort of special adventure with the rest of our family as well.

After the phone call Stitch hopped into bed (still snacking on cookies, don't worry, I did make him get up to brush his teeth before he fell asleep).
wdwandhomewintero9232.jpg

wdwandhomewintero9233.jpg

The collection of birthday stuff was growing by leaps and bounds. When we returned to our room, Stitch had a signed Mickey Mouse picture waiting for him along with a birthday card that had a "Celebration Photo Pass" attached to it (no different than any other photo pass except that it had a balloon design on it). You can see it behind the dessert tray in this picture.

That dessert tray is awesome! I always am envious of people that are so creative. I have a hard time making a plain cake from a mix.

How neat that you two were able to view Wishes from your spot. That is a special night you two will always remember.

I had no idea that anyone could arrange to have a private dinner like that at the GF. That was such a great birthday dinner for Stitch. That Toy Story dessert was just incredible!

I so want to take my kids on Mommy & Me trips after reading this TR! What a blast to be able to spend the one on one time with each child.
