I have two DD's age 6 and 11. They are a little apprehensive about going on Stitch's Great Escape ride. Has anyone been on the ride that can give us some insight? Is it scary? :bounce:

We went on the Stitch ride while were at MK last week. My family didn't like it! There were long periods where everyone sat in complete darkness while we "listened" to Stitch running around. In addition, the seats have shoulder harnesses that lock on top of your shoulders not allowing you to move. I think between the darkness and the shoulder harnesses, small children would find this ride very scary. My kids are 13 and 10, and none of us liked the feeling of being locked in. We didn't find the ride funny or cute and are glad we didn't have to wait in a long line to experience it!

Your kids will have much more fun on the Buzz Lightyear ride.

First, this is not a "ride". You don't go anywhere after you are seated. If you did Alien Encounter in the past, you know what Stitch is like. You are locked into seats sort of like on a roller coaster. The animatronic Stitch is excellent; very realistic. Most of the show is in the dark with loud sound effects, etc. I can't say that my DW and I cared for it a whole lot but we don't know much about Stitch, either. That may have had something to do with it.

If your kids are apprehensive about it, I would suggest skipping it.
We just came back and my kids love Stitch and couldn't wait to go on it.

They absolutley hated it and from then on every time we would get in line for another ride they were constantly needing reassurance that it "wasn't like stitch". The ride was dark, the harnesses were uncomfortable and there were lots of crying kids.

Not comfortable with total darkness I would skip it. :goodvibes :flower: ::MickeyMo

My DS hated Alien when he was 6. He knows the "idea" has been changed to one of his fav's Stitch, but that many of the factors are the same. He has not yet decided if he would try it next trip or not. He'll be 9 but I don't think that will matter. He was very scared with Alien, but he wasn't keen on the "Alien" being itself to start with.

He's ok with dark, but not loud or being restrained in such a fashion.

If there are two adults going, maybe one of you could ride while the other one does Buzz with the kids or have a rest. Maybe then a better judgement can be made.

If you do not like the way Stitch closes you in with the harness thing... just sit up really sraight when they move down then slouch. The bars will not be resting on your shoulders then. It made it less strartling when stitch jumps that way and you feel like you can move around more.

My kids went on and said it is the same as Alien but with Stitch and some changed effects. And just like before there were lots of kids screaming. Even my kids (who are older) thought it was terrible for all these kids who were trapped in their seats and screaming. :scared1: If they are apprehensive then would wait for another trip.

PS My kids thought they should have just tore it down and built something from scratch and won't waste their time again.

If it's not a RIDE, why are you strapped in? Do you actually Go anywhere? We never did Alien, so I don't know what that was like.

You are not strpped in but a bar like thing comes down and rest on your shoulders.

Probably to keep all the screaming, terrified children from running out of there! ;)
No you don't actually go anywhere. My youngest, 8, freaked out on this and this is a girl who couldn't get enough of RNR and TOT. I think just being in the dark w/the idea that someone is running around sneaking up on you is what freaks little ones out.

Alot of the effects of the experience come from the part of the harness around your head and behind your head. This is where some of the speakers are and physical effects and puffs of warm air come from it. When Stitch is "jumping" around the theater, the harnesses push on your shoulders when he jumps on you. It's part of providing you with the experience.
