As I have been researching for my first, and possible only, trip to WDW I've read lots of reviews on Stitch's Great Escape. While most of them are negative, some people like it or say it's so bad it's good.

My plan at the moment is to ride it if I have time after riding everything I am really excited about, but is it even worth it? Would it be a better use of time to re-ride something else or go shopping or...?

I'm looking for lots of different opinions, so please share your thoughts :)

It's pretty bad. For me it's mostly because the shoulder harnesses press down so much that I end up with a back ache. The terrified scrams of children whose parents ignore the age recommendation don't really help the situation.

At least leave it for the second to last thing you do at MK. Don't leave it til last! You do not want that ride to be your final memory of MK. Better yet, Re ride some of your favorites.

I have only ridden this once, but I never understood what the harness thing was supposed to accomplish. I got scared because I thought the ride would spin or move up/down, since the seating looks like the centrifuge seen at county fairs but the harness only touches your shoulders a few times which can be annoying.

Since this is your only trip to WDW, I would do it once. If you have a lull in the day or all other rides have long wait times, it is at least a ride to at least get off your feet and get into air conditioning. However, the ride is so misplaced and the story/ride doesn't make too much sense compared to other rides at WDW.

I like your idea of doing Stitch only if there's time left over after doing everything else of interest. At least it might satisfy your curiosity about how bad it is. (I don't think it's all that bad. I'd choose it over the Country Bears Jamboree or the Tiki Room any day.)

I'm not quite sure why everyone is referring to it as a "ride" since you don't ride anything. You just sit in a room. (Just like Country Bears and Tiki Room, neither of which I have ever heard anyone refer to as rides.)

But I think you'd be fine skipping it also, as I have to admit that you wouldn't be missing much.

Definitely a pass. It's just weird, and the bad smell will stay in your nose for a long while. I skip it every time now.

We love the Country Bears Jamboree. We put it off for many trips, because the majority of people didn't care for it. So try Stitch if you have time. Who knows. You might love it.

It's not memorable .... except to say the shoulder harnesses are rough and sitting in the dark for portions of the experience are not great. We did it so long ago that my kids asked to try it one more time recently. We did and they remember now why they never want to go on it again. When we have extra time, we hit rides and experiences again that we really enjoyed. Either way, it's your choice (just don't wait longer than 20 minutes for this ride)... Have fun!

PASS! And I can be talked into doing literally any other experience at WDW.
It has been years since I've been on it, it somehow manages to annoy all the adults and scare all the small children, which is a very weird combination.
It's really a shame too, because Alien Encounter was GREAT.

My dad and I rode (sat through it?) on our last trip during the evening EMH and thought it was hilariously bad. We won't do it again but we are glad we did it once.

We didnt do it for awhile because of the recommendations. Then we tried it and it was a "pass" nobody in the family enjoyed it. In November DS thought we should do it multiple times! Evidently the target audience is 9 year old boys! I think he thinks the humor is funny and enjoys watching everybody's reaction to it. So I wouldn't pick it over something else but if you've got a break, its hot and you've done everything else try it once.

Do it once just to say you did, but it should not be a priority. I wandered in on my very first Disney trip simply because there was no line, and once was enough for me.

This is the reason I dislike it so much as well... I do have a tip for the shoulder restraint issue. I shrug my shoulders up as the harness is coming down, it stops as soon as it hits your shoulders and then I sit normally and have about an inch or so buffer so that what it presses down, it doesn't push me down. Ever since I started that, I can tolerate it, which we do every trip because my DS likes Stitch.

It is bad, really really bad. We did it once and it is 15 mins I will never get back. It is strange and I am surprised they don't close it down and put something else there.

different strokes for different folks. you won't know unless you try. Heck, i'm getting slammed for HATING Jungle Cruise on these boards because people love the "Nostalgia" of it

I agree, and I would say ride it once so then you know what it is and you don't need to ride it again. It's kind of scary really, and unless you really like Stitch it's just not that exciting or interesting. But yeah, don't make it a priority.
