Still Sassy after all this time!

Woohoo! Four Sassy posts in one day - I think that must be a record of late!

I am sitting here, enjoying the quiet. Mr. FofP took Barney out to dinner for some man-time so it is just me and Wally. Wally wonders why he is not included in the man-time but figures it has something to do with his recent operation.

Tricia - our neighborhood has "either or" houses. You either have a basement or an attic but not both. I love the attic storage but I don't have a good place to hide the boys (and their mess) should dignitaries come and visit. It's a dilemma! Becca - I definitely would like a whirlpool tub too. My feet would be in heaven!

Angie - So glad to hear from you! I can't imagine kids taking over the library. Here, they take over the mall. Scary to go there after 5, I say. I guess they have to have somewhere to go, especially if they happen to be basement deprived.

It's time for me to read to Wally - yes, he's a dog who appreciates good literature. Right now, we are reading The Hobbit. He likes the parts that involve food! See ya later, sassygators!

Good evening Sassies! Tonights feast included no less than 3 vegetables grown in my own garden. We had summer squash, radishes and sweet corn. Yummy! My beans are out of control and I have been canning every 3 or 4 days. Crazy I tell you.

Wilma, I must say Wally has very good literary taste. Speck prefers Dr. Suess and a few of the Berenstain Bear books as well. He will not sit and listen to Harry Potter at all.

Angie, they take over the mall here too, our libraries are still safe. How is the mil? Is she keeping some distance? I too would love some high end stainless steel appliances. I would choose Rocco Dispirto as my live in chef.

Good Morning Sassies!

Today I start my new "job". Well not a paying one but one that will keep me busy two days a week. I'm in charge of the Spirit Cart at Kendall's school. That's where we sell sweatshirts, tshirts, caps, water bottles and and the cool stuff with the school name on it. I really enjoy being there and seeing the kids. Homework started last night. Not too bad..................YET.:teacher:

Tricia-your new job sounds fun!! Your kids go back to school so early! Do you realize that you have over 25,000 posts??!!!

Wilma-I haven't tried reading to my dogs yet, but I can tell you they don't enjoy my singing. They usually join in and do their best to totally drown me out-the nerve. ;)

Becca-send those home grown veggies my way!! We can't get very good produce here. The farm where we picked tomatoes a couple of weeks ago is 2 hours away. :sad2:

The teens who can drive do end up at the mall, but all the younger ones end up at the library. It's too hot for them to hang out outside, so I guess the library is their only option. If I was a parent I would be thrilled if my kids hung out at the library, but I can tell you there's not a lot of reading going on. :rotfl:

My MIL is scared of her own house. I think I told you that her stove was stolen from the house before she moved in. Well, I guess that made her think that she lives in a bad neighborhood. Honestly, it's happening all over town-theives break into brand new EMPTY homes because they have brand new appliances and there's no one living there to get in their way. But now she bought a $1000 security door and is having ADT install an alarm system. Of course the ADT salesman told her that there have been 5 break-ins in her neighborhood recently. Of course he's going to tell her that-he's trying to sell her an alarm! I guess it's fine if it makes her feel better, but I just wish she'd realize that she's in a very safe area and she doesn't need to be afraid all the time. At first, she wouldn't even open her blinds during the day-she just sat there in the gloom all day. I don't know what to do to make her feel safe.

Well on that happy note I'd better get back to work. Have a great day!!

My mother arrives Thursday to help out with yard work & perhaps to help paint Reece's room if we have time. I shall focus on my deep breathing exercises, and promise not to accidentally whack her with the hedge clippers. :rolleyes1

We leave for Niagara next Friday. Actually, we'll be in OH for a couple of days, then head to Niagara next Sunday. Then, off to Allegheny State Park in NY for a few days of camping. Despite having bought all of this camping gear, it will be our first time actually using any of it! My DH and boys are camping newbies! This should be interesting...

QOTD-- I have not been in my house long enough to discover its deficiencies. It is far & away nicer than my old house, so no complaining here! (Give it time. There's always something, right?;))

Angie, if you were a GOOD DIL, you'd alleviate your MIL's irrational fears by letting her live with you. (he he he:lmao:)

Bex-- I think I want to live in your garden. Sounds yummy! You aren't in need of a 5'4, slightly overweight Garden Gnome, are you?

Wilma-- Missing BamBam yet? Hopefully Wally is working overtime on the compensatory cuddling. Oh, and how were the scary giraffes?

Tricia-- your new job sounds fun. I'd love to be a fly on the wall at Reece's new middle school. Perhaps the Spirit Table is my ticket in!:thumbsup2

Top of the mornin', Sassies! We survived our safari trip, with only one worrisome occurrence. One of the two hump camels that I chose to feed stole, and then ATE, the bucket of food. Not just the food, the BUCKET! Plastic can not be healthy for camel digestion. I can't get the poor beast off my mind!

Angie - How about a dog for your mother in law? A barky one, that will keep possible intruders away? No, I'm not suggesting she take Wally (although he does fit the bill) - but maybe a good doggie would provide protection AND companionship!

Shannon - What color are you painting the room? Are the boys excited about camping? Do they know of the lack of bathroom and video game access?

Tricia - the new job sounds fun, and perfect for you! I hope you enjoy it!

Becca - Speck might be more inclined to Harry Potter if there were more furry animals in it. A Hippogriff just isn't enough, and Fang is too sedentary. Hobbits have furry feet, I think that is what Wally likes about them. You could also try the Big Dog, Little Dog series by Dav Pilkey. They are some of Wally's favorites!

We miss BamBam a lot around here. My IL's called last night to ask if it was possible that I swallowed an Energizer Bunny while pregnant with him. Now, they see why he and Wally are such great companions!

See ya later, Sassies!

Good Morning Sassies.

Well homework is really in full swing now. Kelsie was at it for over two hours and that was just one subject. I no that's not the norm but still it's a good reminder of what's to come.

Colin is enjoying Middle school. I still can't believe that my "baby" is that old. Let's not even mention that this is Kelsie's Senior year. :sad2: That song Don't Blink definitely fits the bill here.

Shannon that's so nice that your mom is coming out to help you. So how is the house coming along? Are you even close to being settled?

Wilma I to miss my kids terribly when they are away from me too. I'm sure he's having fun though.

Wilma, Shannon and Becca do your kids all go back after Labor Day?

Angie I think Wilma had a good idea about getting your MIL a dog. What do you think?

Tricia-2 hours for one subject?? It seems like teachers really give a LOT more homework today than when I was in school. I think it's a shame. Childhood is too short to be spent doing all that homework. I'm reading a murder mystery that takes place in NOLA, and I keep thinking about you. The author keeps describing all the food she's eating and it makes me hungry!! :goodvibes

Shannon-I can send my MIL out to help you and your mom. That should be fun!! Actually, she's a very nice lady, she just doesn't seem to think Dwight and I deserve any time alone on the weekends. I'm so glad you're enjoying your new house. Has Ryan switched to the office by your new house?

Wilma-Unfortunately my MIL doesn't like dogs. :sad2: She's going to watch our 2 when we go on our cruise and I'm worried that she won't give them any attention while we're gone. Poor babies will be starved for some lovin' by the time we get home. Me thinks that there will be a pile of camel upchuck with a plastic bucket somewhere in the safari park! Does BamBam get homesick?

No posts over the weekend must mean the Sassies were out having fun. OK, so let's here the reports of what everyone did. Saturday Kendall and I went shopping while Mark and Colin were at the ballpark all day helping out with evaluations for fall baseball. Yesterday we went to a family BBQ. Mark's brother turned the big 50 on Friday.

Wilma, there aren't many Sassies (ok, so you're the only one) who can claim responsibility for the intestinal distress of a camel! There has to be a t-shirt awarded for your efforts.:rotfl:

The boys are excited to camp, and yes, they're aware of the lack of both gaming and bathing facilities. The bathing part they're just fine with. Riley is slightly concerned about the presence of bears, but I told him that after a day of not showering, no bears would be caught dead near our campsite.

Angie-- Just dropped mom off at the airport. Thanks for the offer of loaning your MIL, but I'll, um, take a rain check?:rolleyes1 My mother, though not the best conversationalist or most upbeat person, worked her butt off this weekend. We painted both boys' rooms, (Reece's is lime green, Riley's is two shades of blue) and trimmed/sawed the overgrown landscaping to the tune of 10 trash bags and 6 bundles of branches!

Then she took the boys shopping for all of their school supplies. Honestly, I should be smacked in the head if I ever complain about her again. Remember that sentence ladies!

Ryan hasn't switched offices yet, but he should be doing so soon. I think that a floor of HR and support personnel were being relocated, and he's waiting to take over that floor for his team.

Tricia, I can't believe you're in full-school mode. You're making us look like slackers!

Reece has his new student orientation Thursday night, then we leave for our trip on Friday morning. I'll talk to you all when I get back!

Don't get into too much mischief while I'm away!;)

Hi Sassies! :hippie:

How's your summer going? Mine is going okay! We've had some fun field trips with our preschool summer camp program and it's been a good time!

The dry socket is on the mend, feeling TONS better, but there is still a big hole there that is taking forever to heel. I'm just thrilled not to be in pain anymore.

I'm not dating anyone right now, but have a couple of prospects for when I'm up for it.

Brent was pretty nice to me over the past few weeks when I was feeling terrible, and now it's my turn to return the favor. He has frozen shoulder, and was not able to move his arm at ALL for days. Since he has no job, he has no insurance, but I found him a free clinic to go to. The frozen shoulder was a complication from his diabetes, and he has not taken meds for it since he lost his insurance in Nov. But the free clinic got him some, and his arm is starting to become a little more mobile. He was in some serious pain and I felt bad for him.

I'm trying to get ready for the back to school orientation when I have to meet with the parents for my upcoming class...it's next week! Lots to do!

Wilma, Water Country sounds like a blast! Glad you had a good time. Are you still teaching the two's? Did you ever get your beet-eating goat? ;)

Shannon, how's the new house, lady? Are you just loving it? Next time we go to the petting zoo you should take the boys! Your trip sounds like a blast! I'm glad your strep is clearing up.

Tricia! Glad you finally watched the HP movies! Aren't they great? The last book will be made into two movies, BTW...the book is too long to put it into one movie..plus we'd feel gypped!

Becca, how's Chet? Been decorating him as of late? When does school start there? Miss talkin' to ya, hag!

Angus, what's new with you, lady? I was just thinking that I needed some subway cheese to go with my Triscuits. ;) What's up with your dogs and your MIL and your husband?

Good Morning Sassies.

Hump Day once again. Judi where are you? We need our hunk day picture.

Bonnie it was so nice hearing from you. I didn't know you had a dry socket. I've never had that but heard it's quite painful. I'm glad you are feeling better and that you and Brent are being nice and there for one another. I'm sure it makes the kids happy to see ya'll getting along.

I've got a cheer meeting to go to this evening then a Booster Club meeting after that. Yes, school is in full swing now.

*pokes head in and waves* Hello Sassies......just wanted to say hi:flower3: I cant believe it has been so long since i have posted:confused3 This year has flown by.

Hope everyone is doing well:goodvibes

Hi Sassies! I have been fighting a summer cold while trying to get everything ready for our trip. I think I'm finally on the side of life again.

Tricia, wow the kids schools are keeping you busy! Its so nice you can be so involved though.

Shannon, glad your mom was such a big help during her visit. Still waiting for pics of the new digs!

Bonnie, I have never had dry socket because I was soooooo scared I would get it I hardly drank anything after having my teeth pulled. How are things? I miss your hagginess around here!

Wilma, when do you go back to school? Have you heard from the wildlife police? I hear the punishment for feeding camels plastic buckets is washing the giraffes tongues with a child sized tooth brush!

Heather, long time no see. Hope you are good!

Hi Judi, Julie, Meli and Squid!

*pokes head in and waves* Hello Sassies......just wanted to say hi:flower3: I cant believe it has been so long since i have posted:confused3 This year has flown by.

Is that a Heather sighting? Don't just post and run, come back and fill us in on what's been going on this last year.

Good Morning Sassies. :wave2:

Good morning! This is one morning when I wish I drank coffee - I could use some caffeine.

Heather! Where have you been??

And a Bonnie sighting, too! Dry socket sounds terrible-glad you're feeling better.

Becca-Are you too excited to sleep yet?

Anyone know where Judi's been?

OMG 2 posts in 2 days.....is this the beginning of a trend?:rotfl:

I've been doing ok. Been a long long summer and I am glad school :teacher:is starting. Can you believe Joey is starting school this year? I am sad and excited all at once. My house needs a major cleaning.

How is everyone around here.... whats new......what have I missed......any recaps?:flower3:
