Still Sassy after all this time!

Squid-- I know it's cliche, but it really does seem to be true that the harder you try to find love, the more elusive it becomes. I think if you just go about your life being the awesome, beautiful person that you are, Mr. Fantastic is going to drop into your lap.:thumbsup2

Wilma-- I've never been to the Jersey shore. You'll have to give me the scoop upon your return! And I will most definitely ride ALL of the coasters for ya! We're in negotiations with the grandparents who live near Youngstown OH to come and be our official Riley watchers, so that Ryan, Reece, & I can ride the coasters together. We haven't gotten to meltdown stage with Riley yet, so he'll be content to ride the munchkin stuff. (even though Tower of Terror & Space Mountain are his favorite rides... maybe I'm deluding myself, and he's really going to be mad?)

Hope your dentist appt goes smoothly! With your new crown, perhaps we should refer to you as Queen Wilma?

Good morning, Sassies! Do you know what today is? No? It's THE LAST DAY OF EARLY SWIM PRACTICE FOR A MONTH!!!!! Woohoo:banana: We leave for state champs tonight, and then Barney and his drivers get a month off. My days to snooze are just around the corner:cloud9:

This morning, Wally is living up to his legendary Walter the Farting Dog status. My, oh my - what could he have eaten at daycare? I just thought I would share. If you were planning on stopping by to share a Diet Coke with me this morning, bring a mask.

Shannon - Lucky for you to have relatives near Cedar Point! Don't forget that great "frisbee" ride, Max Air. I love that one! Oh, and get some tasty cinnamon roasted almonds for me, okay?

BTW, I will happily accept the Queen Wilma title! Oh, and I am offering a pie to the first sassy who can use this smiley :littleangel: successfully. Wake up, Judi, Tricia, Becca, Angie, Bonnie, Mel, Squid, Julie et al. It's a pie, after all!

Hi Sassies! I have decided when we get to Disney this year we will melt. We have not had summer weather at all! I hope Florida hasn't had temps like usual too.

Wilma, woo hoo! Sleeping in is a great thing, although I'm not very good at it. Well, you know Wally is short for Walter so he is just aspiring to become as smelly as his namesake. I love those books!

Shannon, I love Cedar Point! I haven't been in several years, I actually worked there. Ride the Magnum for me over and over in the front car, thats where the best hang time is of course. Now that there are so many newer faster coasters there the Magnum never has much of a line which is great! When are you planning to go? If its before we leave for Disney I may drive over to say hi since its not that far from me.

Squiddy, watch out for the Detroit area men. I've been stuck with mine for almost 20 years now.:scared1:

Angie, have a great weekend in the mountains and have a nice break from mil!

Tricia, do you have all the back to school shopping done?

Hi Judi, Bonnie, Meli and Julie!

Good Morning Sassies! I've missed you all. Life without a computer isn't fun. :sad2: Good news is I'm up and running with a new computer. Funny thing is we were going to buy a new laptop when the desktop got fixed. Now I guess we'll put off the laptop for a while.

Since we were without a computer for a whole week guess what we did? We rented all five Harry Potter movies and will go see the 6th one this week. I actually liked the movies which surprised me because I really didn't think I would.

We may be looking for a new car soon. I think we might take advantage of the Cash for Clunkers that's going on right now. Mark has a Dodge Durango that is seven years old and only gets 14 miles per gallon. He's looking for something smaller since he commutes over and hour each way to and from work. :confused3

Have a fun weekend ladies. Any plans?

Afternoon ladies and-- well, I suppose there are no gents here to greet, so just ladies then!

It's been a WONDERFUL weekend. Please note the heavy use of sarcasm there. I came down with Strep Friday afternoon, and went to Urgent Care Saturday to get cultured & get my handy-dandy antibiotic. I am feeling better, but MAN does that little bacteria ever knock you down! I've never had it before, and hope never too again.

Sorry to disappoint the Cedar Point Lovers, but we decided not to go this year. No grandparents could go with us, and Riley is too little for the coasters. We're going to Niagara Falls instead, and then camping somewhere on the way home. Probably Harper's Ferry WV, & we'll go tubing on the river there.

I hope Wally's intestinal issues have, ahem, "worked themselves out.":rolleyes1

Bex, I fear you may indeed melt in Disney. My friend in St. Pete says it's ridiculously hot this year. She went to Ohio for a few weeks, and said it was the first time her kids have played outside in a month!

Tricia, glad to have you back online, and more importantly, indoctrinated into the Wizarding World of Harry Potter! Hopefully we'll see the movie this week.

We did go and see Harry Potter this weekend. Now I'm all caught up and just waiting on the final one. Are they even making that one yet? :confused3 I did see the previews for New Moon. Kendall can't wait for that one to come out. She really likes the werewolf guy.

This afternoon we'll be getting the last on any school supplies the kids need. I thought we were done but apparently not.

Shannon so sorry you aren't feeling well. Being sick is never fun but especially not in the summer with the kids home.

Good morning, Sassies! I have returned from the Jersey shore, relaxed and refreshed. Now, it's off to the dentist to polish up the pearlies, oh joy.
My sister actually survived taking care of Wally in her home this weekend, although the guinea pigs almost met their maker at the snout of Wally (bad Wally, don't eat your aunt's rodents!!!!!).

I think I will take the kids to Water Country tomorrow, as it is a day camp day for Wally. I'm trying to pack in as much fun as possible in the next two weeks because school is just around the corner.:headache: 30% chance of thunderstorms is the forecast, but I think we will risk it as our other days are filling up.

Tricia - So glad to see you back! Have you read the HP books? I like the movies, but the books are far superior. They are working on the last movie, but it will actually be in two parts. I think they are finishing up the first one now. I saw on the news that the Cash for Clunkers program is running out of funds - hop to the dealer quick, quick, quick!

Becca - We've had a really cool summer too - in fact, our coldest July ever on record. Being a fan of the heat, it's been quite unsatisfying, I must say. Where did you work at Cedar Point? The Magnum was one coaster I did not like - far too bumpy for me. I could ride Millenium all day, though! And, oddly enough, I am a big fan of the Blue Streak. Old fashioned but fun!

Shannon - Bummer about Cedar Point. I went to Niagara Falls when I was little and loved it! Are you going to ride the Maid of the Mist? Visit the Wax Museum?

Hi Angie, Bonnie, Squid, Julie, Mel and anyone else I forgot! Have a great day!

Good morning, Sassies! I am up early to take the boys to Water Country for some fun, sun and frolic.:beach: What are the plans for the day, Sassies?

Tricia - Is the back to school shopping done? We have our tax holiday this weekend but the school has not sent out the supply list yet! Ack!

Judi - Where are you, my friend? I miss having you arround.

Ooh! Water Country sounds terrific! Hope you have a wonderful time Wilma! I'm glad Wally didn't manage to get his muzzle around Guinea Pig Tartare.

Tricia, I have hope that New Moon will be better than Twilight. Not holding my breath though!

The Strep is almost cleared up, but the amoxicillin is wreaking havoc on my innards! I just have to suck it up for 5 more days...

Made all of our arrangements for our trip. 2 days at Ryan's dads, 1 night in Niagara (Maid of the Mist and Cave of the Winds tours), followed by 2 nights/3 days camping at Allegany State Park in NY. Can't wait!

I will be hitting up the tax-free shopping weekend for school supplies & clothes. I can't believe how quickly this summer has gone by! At least the boys don't go back until the 8th.

Good morning, ladies! Water Country was quite a success. We had great weather and though the crowds were formidable, we managed to ride all that we wanted. We took my nephew (who will be 13 in November) and feeding all three boys, plus myself, made for a staggering lunch bill. $50! When we go to amusement parks Mr. FofP usually takes over the financial part of the lunch transaction while I go and get the kids started so I was quite surprised. Welcome to the new millennium, Wilma!

Shannon - Your vacation sounds like fun. Will you be stopping in at Ripley's Believe it or Not? That would be Barney's favorite! I can't believe your boys have to go back on the 8th. That's the pits! When do they get out in the summer? We don't have to go back until the 24th, and I am packing all the fun into the last 3 weeks that I can.:thumbsup2

Tricia - Where are you? The coffee is getting cold!

Hi Becca, Judi, Angie, Squid, Bonnie, Mel, Julie et al. Have a Sassy day!

Guess it's just you & me Wilma! Water Country (gigantic lunch bill notwithstanding) sounds like it was good times.

Not sure if we'll have time to hit the Ripley's museum, though that would be right up Reece's alley! Maybe we'll fit it in the morning we check out of our hotel. We don't have to check into our campground until 3 pm, and it's only a few hours away. Other than a grocery stop, I don't think we'll have much to do that morning.

As for school going back Sept 8th, I guess it doesn't bother me because I don't know any differently? In fact, I grew up going back to school right around my dad's birthday, which is Aug 21st, so for me, right after Labor Day seems like a bonus couple of weeks!:thumbsup2

Our school systems always factor in snow days (especially our new county, part of which is in the Shenandoahs).

Hope everyone has a fabulous weekend planned. I have a CAbi party to go to with my MIL. It is sort of like Pampered Chef, but with clothing, and waaay too expensive for moi. But, I promised her I'd go with her. Oh well, there's bound to be free food!;)

Sunday is going to be spent lounging by the pool if I have my way!

Shannon, I think we should re-name ourselves the Sassies Still Standing. I'm glad your here, girl!

I thought you said that your boys go back August 8, not September 8. That's why I was so surprised! I would love to have our kids go back post Labor Day, but they always start in August around here. Personally, I would rather have all of August to vacation and hang around sans 5 am wake up. But that's just me, I suppose, because those silly School Board people don't get it!

Do you camp in tents? Have you ever misplaced a child in a big canyon like the Brady Bunch did? I certainly hope not!

I had to go buy school supplies this afternoon and I must say, left the store depressed. I hate the homework cycle. Now, in my sadness, Wally is here to comfort me complete with some smelly poofs from the back end. He thinks they are endearing, I think. Not in complete agreement here.

We are having company this weekend and then all going to Mr. FofP's aunt's 60th birthday party on Sunday. Being that she is turning 60, we were advised to don love beads and fringe vests, neither of which I have. But,I may just wear my Sassy headband just to be festive. Unless Wally has eaten it while I was not looking.

See you all later!

Evening Sassies! What a crazy hectic week this was. I took the kids to the zoo so they could feed the giraffes. For those inquiring minds, they do still have the long nasty black tongues.

Shannon, your vacation sounds like fun. I haven't been to Niagra Falls since I was a tyke and don't remember too much.

Wilma, I worked at Magnum Hotshots at CP. Its the ride photo place at the Magnum, I still remember the spiel "Welcome back Magnum riders......" It was the hot new ride way back then!

The rest of you Sassies have a great weekend!

Good day, Sassies! Becca, the zoo sounds like fun. I know how you feel about giraffe tongues, but it's good that you are a mom who can take it for the team. We are going to a safari park next week, you drive your car through and can feed the giraffes if you so desire. I wonder if they stick their whole heads in the car, and what that will be like.

Speaking of feeding animals, I used to be a public health nurse in a tiny rural town near Cville and it had a Purina feed store right in the middle of town. It was amazing how many "chows" they made. Rabbit chow, horse chow, dog and cat chow, turtle chow, fish chow. Yes, fish chow! I often wondered what the fish thought of fish chow.

So Becca, when you worked at the photo place in Cedar Point, did you make fun of the people who don't buy the picture? Ever get any REALLY interesting pictures? I am not surprised that spiel stuck in your head. I had a girlfriend who used to work the Mr. Toad ride in Disneyland and she had nightmares for years that she screwed up the loading procedure and during the nightmare the Mr. Toad theme song was always playing in the background accompanied by "step out to your left, when the car stops, step out to your left". Scarred for life, I tell ya!

Shannon - do you go to Niagara this weekend or next? If it is this one, have a great time!

Gotta go and continue to clean for the inlaw's visit. Sayonara, Sassies!

Good Morning Sassies. 2ND day of school here. It still seems weird that my house is buzzing so early in the morning. It's going to take me about a week to get used to a quiet house again. Friday did seem rather strange to me.

So how was everyone's weekend? Yesterday we had an impromptu little BBQ in the backyard.

Good morning, Sassies! Well, it's the beginning of one week sans BamBam. He's off to his grandma and grandpas for the week and we will meet them in Williamsburg for the weekend. I know he's going to have a great time, but he's my baby and I will miss him.:guilty: Of course, of all of us he seemed only truly sad to leave Wally. And, Wally returned the sentiment by moaning at the front door for 10 minutes after he left. Ay, yi yi!

Tricia, I don't envy you your quiet house. I am not at all ready for school to start!

I know we are low on Sassies, but I am going to pose a QOTD anyway. What feature do you not have in your house that you would love to have? For us, it's a basement. As the boys get older, it would be nice to have a place they can go with their friends and play video games, ping pong or whatnot. What about you?

Have a great day, Sassies!

Hi Sassies! We finally have summer, yesterday was 90 something. We went to the new casino that opened last week. Lost my dough, but at least I got to see it. You wouldn't know the economy is in trouble in that place! More crowded than Disney.

Tricia, I can't believe your summer is over already. It went so fast. Were the kids happy to be back at school? I'm not ready for school, but at least we still have almost a month of summer vacay left.

Wilma, Speck misses the boys when they aren't here too. He is very protective and patrols the house and yard when they are outside to make sure no one comes to close. He also tries to prevent them from riding their bikes down the driveway and out into the street. This is not the best idea he has ever had, we have had injured children and dog because of it!

QOTD: I wish I had bigger bathrooms and a whirlpool tub. And a mudroom, in the winter its hard for the boys not to make a mess with muddy, snow covered boots.

Have a great day Sassies!

Becca we have no need for a mud room here in the south but I can truly see how up north it would be very useful. When we visited my BIL in Colorado a few years ago we got to see first hand just how wet and messy you get coming inside from playing in the snow.

QOTD~I have to agree with Wilma on this one and wish for a basement. Unfortunately around here there are no houses with basements.......we have attics. Every time I watch an episode of House Hunters and see how so many people have a whole extra floor of living space I always get a little jealous.

Tricia, I agree I love our basement! It has real windows instead of basement windows. Our family room is down there and it stays soooo cool in the summer. Plus it makes a great shelter during tornado season!

Good morning Sassies!! We had a nice relaxing weekend, except for fighting the crowds at Famous Footwear Saturday! But we couldn't pass up their Back To School buy one get one 1/2 price sale. Plus I had a 20% off coupon. I love getting a good deal. :thumbsup2

Sorry, but I'm excited for all the kids to go back to school-the library has been a zoo all summer and I'm ready for it to go back to our nice quiet little library. There's nowhere else for the kids to hang out in Surprise, so they have taken over the library. I think most of them go back next Monday.

QOTD-I would love some high quality stainless steel appliances. And maybe a cute chef to cook for me!! ;)
