The past week since my mom's funeral have been so surreal. I still expect to go downstairs and see her sitting in her favorite recliner chair. It just seems so strange.
Tuesday was my birthday, and it was very weird not having her around for it. My sisters were going to come over with their kids, but we were expecting snow that never really came, so they didn't end up coming over. So, I stayed at home with my dad. My dad isn't a "happy birthday" type of person, so it was pretty much like being alone on my birthday. It was kind of sad, and I had a long cry over that one.
My brother had to work that night, so he got me a Carvel ice cream take the night before my birthday. That's exactly what my mom would have done for my birthday.
I've been opening all the mail that comes to the house in my mom's name. Since she had the stroke three weeks ago, I've opened three or four letters from insurance company trying to sell her insurance to pay for expenses when she died. It's crazy.
Yesterday, my dad got a brouchure from a company that sells headstones. I wound up throwing the brochure out, and I told my dad that I didn't want to use that company because they sent us that unsoliciated.. They must have looked up our address after seeing my mom's death notice in the paper. I think it's horrible that they would send that to us. Just gave me a bad feeling about that company.
Well, that's it for now. Thanks for listening
