When I bought in September 1999, I got April 1999 points. I sold some of them back for $10 a point (at that time the maximum sellback was 150 points, I bought 250). Since these SSR points will not be available until August 2005, the $10 per point credit makes up for not backdating. I did have to pay dues on all the points prorated from September 1999 through the end of the year, including those I sold back. In your case, you will not have to pay dues until the points are actually available so that's an advantage.
