So DISers, what's the good word? Is it still worth it to fax in room requests?

Most of the resorts are ignoring faxes. If you have any requests call central reservations and have them note them.

Okay, straight from the horses mouth so to speak. Actually, in this case her name was Janine (At CBR), she said that they do in fact still take them and to fax them no earlier than 5 days. I dont know about other resorts because we are staying at CBR I only have their number. I also asked her about the 5 day thing. I told her I thought it was 4 days, and she said it didnt matter, but no sooner than 5.

It all depends on who you talk with. They may accept the fax but that doesn't mean they will match up the fax with your reservation. By having it in your reservation nothing has to be matched up. The resorts are also very good at granting requests at check in.

I thoroughly agree with safetymom. It is to your benifit to have all room requests done by CR. Then if you feel inclined to do so, go ahead and submit a fax. It wouldnt hurt. But as safetymom pointed out call and have it put on your reservations, don't rely on the fax alone.

I called about a week before our 12/23 - 1/1 trip and asked directly for the Pop Century front desk. Made my room request and it was ready and waiting for us (back side of "jukebox" building facing EPCOT). It was a long walk to the "Everything Pop" building and buses but so quiet and peaceful. Great view of Illuminations. Best of luck with your request!

a specific building at POFQ in my initial reservation, but truthfully, it wouldn't matter that much.

Hmm... I'd hate to fax and get on their nerves!

Definitely NOT worth it if you are staying at OKW, BWV, BCV, VWL or SSR. The DVC resorts do not look at anything that isn't on the reservation.

Best wishes -

Aside from DVC (CarolMN is right) you may just want to call and ask the resort itself. I did with CBR and they say they welcome them. HOWEVER, I have heard that a few just ignore them. I dont think you would get on their nerves with it. I'm sure that the resorts still get tons per day and if they dont use them they just toss it in the can without even looking at it. No harm, no foul. But you could call first to make sure you are not wasting your time.

We stayed at the Poly Nov. 2004. I did not make any requests through CRO. I had 2 seperate reservations one Land/Sea though AAA and then one room only prior to trip at Poly. I faxed my requests 3 days before we checked in requesting to link the reservations so we can stay in the same room and building requests. We got everything we asked for. I would say faxing still works.
