I am fairly new to this board, and thought I was knowledgeable about WDW, but have discovered lots of things have changed since we were there in 9/04. I have read (I think) every post regarding the DDP & CS meals and am still confused. Please forgive me in advance if this is a repeat. Also, I am just asking questions so that I can make the best choices possible for us.

1 - Lots of posts say that the CS credits are pooled for kids & adults, though others say they are not. Has anyone been to WDW recently and knows for sure? If they are, I'm wondering what would prevent guests from splitting up their party and getting 4 adult meals, instead of 2A & 2C meals? What accomodations would be made at a CS if your child could not eat what is offered on the kids' menu?

2 - At a CS that only has al a carte options, such as Casey's, can you get a hot dog, fries, drink, & dessert or just a hot dog, drink & dessert? There is debate on this one too - does anyone have 1st hand knowledge?

3 - A poster suggested using CS for breakfast with kids credits & sharing, then getting CS lunch with adult credits. If you are only allowed to use 2A or 2C credits at one time, how is this possible?

Thanks for any help in this so confusing area!:)

We went with the dining plan March 1-7. The counter service meals were pooled.

My son is allergic to milk, and I was worried about the CS meals. The worry was for no reason, because at every CS, they gave alt. options and they also had a binder at the register filled with ingredient lists. My son has never eaten so well.

Counter service lunch and dinner includes an entree OR combo, a dessert, and a drink (no dessert at breakfast, but you may be able to get food, drink, and orange juice or something). Since a restaurant like Casey's does not offer combo meals, you would have to pay for fries out of pocket.

Any questions regarding the use of the plan that are not answered specifically in the WDW Dining Brochure cannot be accurately answered on these boards and should be addressed to WDW Dining. Interpretation of the rules has led to a tremendous amount of debate on these boards. To avoid further conflict, we will close any threads that ask for interpretation of the rules and encourage the poster to contact WDW Dining.

That's something which only each individual CS eatery can answer for itself. There is no apparent resort-wide policy, and there are cases where CS eateries simply have said, "no." TS seems to be much less of an issue -- the TS chefs are almost always very accommodating of special requests, but CS "not so much".

I'm not sure I understand your 3rd question...

You have a card that says 2 A, 2 C---- you go to the CS cashier with 2 childrens breakfast meals (including beverages) and hand over your card. They charge you 2 childrens CS credits (actually 2 CS credits, as they are still pooled).... Then your entire party eats those 2 meals. At lunch time, you go to any QS meal location, order 2 Adult CS meals (including beverages and desserts), hand over your card and they charge you 2 adult CS credits. Your entire party shares those 2 meals.

That's consuming 4 CS credits- 2 A, 2 C. It's not abusing the plan at all. It's not cheating Disney out of anything. It's probably going to be plenty of food for your family- only you'll be able to determine that. (You may need to add a snack credit or two into the mix and possibly your refillable mugs at the resort w/ your breakfast meal)

At this point, Disney, to the best of my knowledge, doesn't separate adult and child credits at CS but most CS locations will only allow you to order up to the number of credits allotted on your card (you can order fewer but not more) on each visit to the cashier.

I have a friend there now doing the dining plan. If she comes home and says any differently, I'll let you know :) She's on-site w/ her kids. Her DH is in town, but off-site so not on the DDP. So all their purchases together will be partially OOP, partially DDP. Or not- I guess it depends on what the CM tells them to do. Her intention is to pay OOP for all her husbands food and beverages.

I must have been having a 'moment' b/c that makes perfect sense to me now!

If I broke the rules, I apologize. I had seen so many posts of this nature, I thought it was not a problem.

That answers my question - thanks!

I'm pretty-sure the rule does not prohibit DIS members from asking the question but rather prohibits DIS members from providing an answer. You cannot go wrong by asking questions.
