Thank you to everyone who made suggestions for where we should stay. I'm just a bit confused about transferring from Blue/Green to RCI to DVC. I talked with a CM today who said I should go through RCI to book the stay and then contact WDW to book dining plan, park tickets, etc. If anyone here has actually gone from Blue/Green to DVC, could you please tell me more about it.

Also, I thought in order to get the dining plan I would have to book directly through DVC (rather than through RCI which is what the CM told me to do). I can not risk not being able to purchase the dining plan and so I want to be absolutely sure to do the right thing.

Does anyone know if Blue/Green points transfer point for point to RCI? They were closed today so I couldn't ask....

Thanks so much. This board has been incredibly helpful so far.

nothing is point for point.

you can do disney dinning - with an exchange thru rci.

first before you start making plans - be sure you can get a DVC resorts for your dates.

if you can't then why be concerned about other things.

you really need to call blue-green or your resort.

Like Pat said, you need to get the reservation first. RCI is a trading company. Booking this trip isn't like using your Bluegreen points to stay within that system. You don't have unlimited access to DVC villa vacancies.

The idea is that you are DEPOSITING the time you own at Bluegreen with RCI while attempting to WITHDRAW a DVC villa that has been deposited by a DVC member. I would recommend being VERY flexible in terms of what you are willing to accept. If you just want to vacation at Walt Disney World, be prepared to take ANY DVC resort that you find with RCI. And if possible, look at a range of weeks rather than zeroing-in on one specific set of dates.

Once you have secured a reservation you will be able to contact DVC directly in order to add the dining plan, schedule DME, etc.

We are VERY flexible with dates. Basically we want to go sometime between September and December. Also, I have absolutely no preference as to where we stay. As long as we're there, we're happy!
Thank you for clarifying, it makes a bit more sense now. Hopefully I'll be able to get through to the companies today.
