Sticky toffee pudding

What exactly is Sticky toffee pudding? On my next visit I am planning on trying out Rose&Crown. The sweetpea loves desserts and since we are on vacation we are going all out. But the sweetpea usually goes for whats chocolate on the menu. Im more likely to try something new, but I like to know what it is ahead of time. I dont think Ive heard of sticky toffee pudding before. Is it just toffee tasting pudding? Is it a warm dish or cold? Anyone tried it and have an opinion on it? Im gonna feel pretty lame if its self explanitory. But humor me and help me out. TIA!

It is actually like a Bread Pudding with a toffee coating. Pretty good, but it can be a little hard (dry?) at times. We had it last year as part of the desert sampler (which I would recommend). It think it comes with Creme Brulee, Toffee Bread Pudding, and Chocolate Cake.

It isnt actually like a bread pudding. It is an old traditional British sponge pudding which is made with butter, brown sugar, eggs and dates( which have been steeped in hot water and cooked) The mixture is then spooned into individual ramekins and cooked in the oven. The result is a pudding that tastes like toffee sponge. It should never be hard or dry though. The pudding is served with a toffee sauce made with heavy cream, brown sugar and vanilla. I make them often but dont like dates. I have adapted mine and it is a big favorite with friends and family alike. Made properly it is one of the most delicious desserts I have ever tasted.

It is very Yummy!!! ....and I don't really like dates! I didn't realize it had it in it until I made it this fall (from a kit). Just as Magggs described, an individual date cake with toffee sauce poured over it. It is served warm.
