Sticker shock!!

To illustrate the OP's point, December 14-24 2007, Lagoon View Concierge at the Beach Club would be $5794 (room only) December 14-24 2008, same room, would be $7133! That's a pretty substantial increase due to the change in billing. Now, I realize that pretty much all hotels bill this way. If you travel during a premium time, you pay a premium price no matter when you check in, but it is a shock for the price to go up that much in one year!

DVC is the way to go if you want to visit WDW once a year or more. Disney's resort prices are getting way crazy; in fact, I believe there strategy is to increase there resort rates in hopes to push more people to join DVC. DVC is one of Disney's biggest profit centers. But, it is a good deal for frequent guests so I guess it's a win-win for everyone.

Joining DVC also provides you with several perks and discounts; i.e. $100 off an AP.

I know this will sound foolish, especially since I just joined the DVC, but can you explain to me why DVC is one of Disney's biggest profit centers?

You know, your home resort offers Concierge.....and you will have that 11 mth booking advantage! I am calling back today to see if I can get it, it was available when I booked, but thought DD10 was hooked on the Savanna View...concierge was OPEN...ugh....and concierge at AKV cannot guarantee a SV....so now she wants to do that special Sunrise Safari!! Wish me luck!
Just think of how MUCH more you will enjoy your next stay!!! NO sticker shock!!!! lol

I know! Very excited that concierge is offered at AKV! However, the kids are dying to see the animals from our room and I also don't want to chance not getting a savanna view. Good luck w/ the sunrise safari. I hear it's awesome!

We did just join DVC this week b/c we'll always love WDW. After running the #'s, for our family, it WILL save us $ through the years. Interesting points on this thread.....
