I loved the He changed our world and my 9 year old dd loved the Home of the Gum trees.

Just in case you have troulbe finding one of those songs.. the correct name is Home Among the Gum Trees. John Williamson sings it along with True Blue.:goodvibes

Also, I think you will find you have trouble finding He Changed Our World as it is only a new song.. it was written especially for Steve's memorial service and that was the first time it had been performed.

Dan McGahan is going to be recording it.. but I don't know exactly when. So you will most likely need to wait until it has been recorded to be able to download it.

Bindi the wildlife warrior

BINDI Irwin didn't miss a beat when she officially took over this week as the face of her father's worldwide wildlife crusade.

With an infectious smile and showing a lot of grace, the pig-tailed eight-year-old shot a television commercial at Australia Zoo promoting next weekend's Wildlife Warrior wristband fundraiser in The Sunday Mail.

On cue: Bindi Irwin cuddles Lulu the sugar glider for the television cameras

And she was her father's girl through-and-through.

Dressed in the Irwin family's trademark khaki, Bindi, who captured the hearts of millions when she addressed her father's memorial service after his death last month, showed the easy exuberance, love of life and love of animals that made Steve Irwin a star.

Between thanking the film crew for their help and patience, Bindi cuddled Lulu the sugar glider and a koala called Jaffa for the cameras.

Planning for the wristband fundraiser between Irwin's Wildlife Warriors Worldwide and The Sunday Mail began before the world-famous conservationist was fatally stabbed by a stingray.

Work on the project started last year, with Irwin keen to spread his conservation message as widely as possible.

Vowing to continue her father's wildlife crusade at the memorial service, Bindi told the world she wanted to help endangered wildlife "just like he did".

She said yesterday the stylish green wristbands, with Wildlife Warrior embossed on them, were "super cool" and she would be wearing one – and hoped lots of other people would, too.

"Green is the colour of nature and if you wear one it will show that you are really into wildlife and that you are going to make a difference like my daddy did," she said.

The little Wildlife Warrior said her favourite animals were dingoes and water rats because they were "cute and playful", but she loved all animals whether they were cuddly or dangerous.

The new commercial will start screening on Thursday on the three commercial television channels.

The wristbands will be available exclusively from newsagents next Sunday on presentation of the special token in The Sunday Mail plus $1, while supplies last.

I think it is just horrible that someone registered bindi's domain name and then used it for something so yucky!! I'm glad that the family was able to get it back.

Nutsy, thanks for all of the updates!

Meanwhile, the world's best-selling female band, The Dixie Chicks, say they have invited Bindi, brother Bob and Terri to their Brisbane concert.

The band members, who are touring Australia with their Accidents and Accusations tour, met Steve on a previous visit to Australia.

The band's lead singer, Natalie Maines, said the group was greatly saddened by his death.

"We went to his show at the zoo in Queensland," she said.

"We didn't meet the baby, but we met Bindi. She drew us pictures.

"Most people I know that are as animated as Steve was, comedians and people like that, are the complete opposite when you meet them.

"I couldn't believe Steve could keep that up, but that was him.

"He was like that all the time and Terri loved him for it."

Maines, mother to Jackson, 5, and Beckett, 2, said her sons were big fans. "They watch Steve and have the doll that says Crikey!" she said.

dmslush... I couldn't agree more... the guy who did that used to be a volunteer up at the Zoo. He claimed he had good intentions.. but when it was linked to such not so nice things.. then how could he possilbly justify his "good intentions". Just glad it's now been handed over to the Zoo and is in good hands.

AWE-struck ... still very much the child at heart, Bindi Irwin gapes at the array of stars present with her for the Nickelodeon Kid's Choice Awards in Sydney.

EIGHT-year-old Bindi Irwin was greeted with screams of support tonight as she honoured a commitment made by her father.

The daughter of Crocodile Hunter Steve Irwin attended tonight's Nickelodeon Kids Choice Awards in Sydney, making her first public appearance since her father's memorial service on September 20.

At that service, Bindi Irwin pledged to continue the wildlife work of her father, who was killed by a stingray barb to the chest while filming footage for his daughter's TV series on the Great Barrier Reef on September 4.

Steve Irwin had earlier agreed to attend tonight's awards ceremony so his daughter could mix with her favourite television and music stars.

Instead, Bindi flew into Sydney from the Sunshine Coast accompanied by her mother, Terri Irwin, and said she was excited to be presenting an award.

Dressed in her father's trademark khaki, Bindi attracted the biggest scream from the crowd outside the Sydney Entertainment Centre and happily posed for photos.

“I'm feeling pretty good,” she said.

“It's kind of sad that he couldn't be here but it's nice that I could do it.”

With her crimped blonde hair in pigtails, Bindi clutched her mother's hand and said: “I'm going to slime my mum, that might be really fun.”

Asked how she was holding up, Terri Irwin said: “It's wonderful to have a focus on a special night and I know Steve would have been really proud.

“Bindi's been looking forward to this for a long time so we're really glad to be here.”

Bindi was to present tonight's biggest award – Fave Aussie.

She said she was looking forward to meeting Sophie Monk, a host of the award night, which is linked to a children's pay TV channel.

The Irwin family's friend and manager, John Stainton, was also on tonight's guest list.

I just finished watching the Croc Diaries episode where they pull a prank on Steve and go to his house and put the snake in his bed. It looked like a very modest home.

Nutsy, thanks for keeping us up-to-date. Please keep posting the articles and links. :thumbsup2

I emailed the Herald Sun (Australian) newspaper shop asking if the green Wildlife Warrior wristbands would be available for purchase to people from the USA.
I just received this reply:

Thankyou for your email and your interest in the Wildlife Warrior wristbands.

Wildlife Warriors have asked us to advise all customers from the USA, that they are currently trying to arrange a similar wristband promotion through the Discovery Channel across the USA.

If you would like to wait for that promotion, you should be able to purchase the wristband within the USA. Unfortunately, they cannot advise when that promotion will take place.

If you don't wish to wait for the Discovery promotion, you can purchase the wristband from Australia for $7 AUD by either telephone ( 61 3 9292 1234) or by fax (61 3 9292 1272). For security reasons, we do not recommend that you email your credit card details.

Thankyou once again for your support of the Wildlife Warriors and the Herald Sun.

Kind Regards

This is good news! By trying to arrange this promotion, they are making it easier for people in the US to support Wildlife Warriors and Steve's memory as well as raising awareness about the organization :thumbsup2

The Irwin family's friend and manager, John Stainton, was also on the guest list.

With chants of "We love you, Bindi" echoing from the children in the audience, a grinning Bindi Irwin made her way on-stage to present the last award of the night - Favourite Aussie.

Smiling and waving to the crowd, Terri and eight-year-old Bindi in unison yelled their husband and father's favourite catchphrase, "Crocs rule".

The tears and sorrow of the last months subsided briefly as they announced the winner of the award - singer Guy Sebastian.

Sebastian was up against Olympic swimmer Ian Thorpe, actor Nicole Kidman and singer Anthony Callea.

"Isn't this great?" Bindi said confidently to the crowd.

"I am the smallest presenter, but I get to give the biggest award," she joked with a smile.

Sebastian said receiving the award from the pair, especially Bindi, was a huge honour and a moment he would cherish.

"I think Bindi is an inspiration to young girls," he said.

"To come through grief and handle it the way she is handling this ... she is so brave. I never met him (Steve) but I used to impersonate him all the time, he was a legend.

"This is a double whammy (award). It's an honour to win that award and then an honour to receive it from a girl who has gone through so much."

By the end of the segment Bindi was covered in green goo from head to toe, participating in the Nickelodeon tradition of getting "slimed".

It is so good to hear that Terri and Bindi are trying to get along in there new lives without Steve....They are a tough team and an inspiration.

It's so great to see Terri smiling!!!! And I'm guessing those green bracelets are their Wildlife Warriors wristbands.

Yep, the green wristbands Terri and Bindi are wearing are the Wildlife Warrior Wristbands. If you check back a page or two on the thread you will see some pics of them.

$7 is a bit much.... we can get them with the token from the paper next Sunday for $1.. but if you add the cost of the paper on to that you are looking at about $2,60 total cost for one wristband. Wish I knew if we are able to purchase more than one wristband on the one token or if we have to have a separate token for each wristband that is purchased.

I would be willing to pay the $7 AUD, if all the procedes were going to the Wildlife Warriors fund.
