Hope you can open that one:)

Steve used to be in that with Bindi.. at the end she would walk up to him put her arms around his neck (he was crouching down) and she would say something like "you might see my Dad there too". But that bit has been cut from it now and it's just Bindi.

Yes, that one opened just fine. I actually saw the one with Steve in it just the other day. I saw it when I was clicking around on the zoo web site. So sad. I just can't get over his death.

Loved the book. Thanks for the link. :goodvibes I finally had time to watch the Ray Martin interview. Wow, what a compassionate man and I loved the way he let Terri talk. I think some of our reporters/interviewers in the states could take some lessons from him. Yesterday, I watched the BW interview again to see what I missed and even my 11 yr old dd was not happy with BW. She kept saying, why is that person asking all of those dumb questions? And when BW made the wierd comment, dd about fell off of the couch. Again, I tried not to pay as much attention to BW as to what Terri was saying. However, after seeing the Ray Martin interview, it's even more apparent how little BW let Terri tell her about her life with Steve. Anyways, just my .02.

Thanks again Nutsy for all of your information. :wave2:

I Finally got to watch the entire interview with Ray Martin too!! He is a very caring and compassionate man. I loved how he took Terri out to look at all the memorial items that had been left by mourners. BW definitely could take lessons from Ray. Perhaps Terri was more comfortable with Ray also because he was from Australia and she had delt with him before? Either way I enjoyed this interview alot more.

I don't know why everytime I see Them drive Steve's truck out of the crocoseum I end up a blubbering mess. :sad1:

This was a class A interview, it was so personal and not business like. I wish they would show that one over here in the states.

Here is a link to the first segment (out of 4) of an interview Steve did on the Australian show "Enough Rope" with Andrew Denton in 2003. Terri and Steve were interviewed on this show in 2004 as well but there is no video for that as far as I know. Both interviews are really funny and are a nice look into Steve and Terri's lives. You can also read the transcripts of the interviews on the "Enough Rope" website.

I don't know that Terri has had any prior dealings with Ray.. For what it's worth I'd say it's just the kind of person Ray is that put Terri at ease and she was comfortable with him.. Remember too.. being an Aussie he knew Steve (may have met them both, not sure on that).. but he knew all about Steve..Ray is a local.. He also lives on the Sunshine Coast.

Personally I just feel that you don't have to be a local or an Aussie to do a good interview like that.. You need compassion, you need understanding and you need to know your stuff. Ray knew about Steve and understood his passion. So, if BW had that same knowledge, compassion and understanding she would have done a far better job of her interview. We could have a had a whole lot of pics of Ray throughout the zoo too for all the Aussies who've never been.. but there wasnt'.. He was there to interview Terri and let Terri tell the public about Steve.

That's just what I think anyway..

I have finally seen both interviews.

And something stood out to me from both of them.

While this was a true tragedy for Terri, and I dont know if she will ever get over it...She will certianly get through it, but never over it.

But what really stood out was how completely at peace she was with how he died. Not that he died, just how he died. That it was just a complete & total fluke accident. And she just seemed so calm & at peace with that part.

She has such an amazing strength & I know that will help her & her children get through this.

Thanks for the links! Such a great interview with Denton.

Makes me so sad....but he was larger than life and won't be forgotten.

I've seen the interview with Ray as well. Anyone else think it was a little off how he so bluntly asked if she'd seen the video and if she'd like to?

You're welcome. I really enjoyed the interview, too. Steve was so funny! "Crikey! A radio mic! Have a look at this little beauty!" :rotfl:

It was interesting to hear him talk about his "philosophy on fatherhood" and how they really wanted a boy for their second child.

It does make me sad, too, knowing that such a wonderful person has been taken from the world, but his spirit lives on! He and his work will always be remembered.

No, because that question has been floating around for sometime. Others have been asked it and the natural prorgresion of things would be that Terri be asked how she feelis about it.

So, for me the answer is no.. others of course may think differently.

BuckyFan04 : the radio mike was funny. He was just so full of life! Talking about how they wanted a boy was cute, but I liked when he said Oh, it doesn't matter what we have! what are we going to do? Throw it back!

I was also so impressed with how much he loved his Dad. You sure don't see that in kids now adays!

:rotfl2: This part made me crack up....though what he said really is the truth.
I also thought it was funny when he was describing how 'big' Terri was:

"She's, she's, she's...Well, I don't know how else to say it, but she's bloody big! .... Sorry, sweetheart!"

I also liked in the 4th segment when he gave us some more info on his conservation work.

I was also impressed with how he shared with us how much he really loved his parents. I agree with you in that you don't hear children, or really even anyone talk about their parents like that very much anymore. Steve was such a great role model. The world is so blessed to have had Steve in it.

Oh, I know Poor Terri! "She isn't the hollywood type with the little 'bump" um, she's well.....huge.

Oh, I was laughing at that one. Oh, and when he told the story about Bindi bitten by the snake. I would have really been upset! Can you imagine your child coming home with a bloody face? he was proud! lol

I do agree with everything you have said here. It was very apparent that BW did not have the knowledge of Steve that Ray did. BW was ok but not half as passionate and kind as Ray. It is also true that more reporters could take lessons from Ray Martin and his approach when he does interviews. It was just nice to see how comfortable Terri was with him and how he let her talk about Steve and who he really was....

Either way it was a very moving interview...

Yeah, that story was pretty funny! I would probably be upset, too, but not Steve! He could probably see that she was just a chip off the ol' block, and he knew that she would be all right. His story about his and Terri's worst argument was pretty good, too. "Why don't you undo the buttons on your shirt like a normal person?!" lol

I hope that the DVD of the memorial service will be released in other formats compatible with the US systems...the DVD would be a nice thing to have, I think, especially since all of the royalties from the DVDs would be donated to Wildlife Warriors.

Thanks for the Denton links. They were great and I really enjoyed watching them.
