Some of the most horrible pain I have ever had. I had gone to get My granddaughter at preschool and it was in the parking lot. I guess I stepped on it just right. I had her with me, so I tried not to get sick or pass out. Called my daughter and she came and got me. DH was at home and a neighbor took him to my car and then he came on to the emergency room. Took me right on back. The doctor gave me a tetnus shot and a pain shot. Told me he could either knock me out completely or do one, two, three jerk. We jerked it out. It didn't hit a bone or a major blood vessel or artery and didn't bleed much. Which I don't know if that is good or not. It actually nailed my flip flop to my foot. He told me that it was so bad that it wouldn't have mattered what kind of shoe I had on. I am on an antibiotic for 10 days and am wearing a "boot" on that foot. I go next week to let my doctor see it to see if it is healing correctly. Feels better today but horrible horrible pain yesterday. Thanks for listening. Just awful though. :guilty:

OMG, you poor poor thing. I hope you will be okay. NAILED THE FLIP FLOP TO YOUR FOOT!! OMG! :grouphug:

OUCH!!!So sorry--my cousin did this in my presence when we were little. She screamed and screamed and I about passed out. :goodvibes Now you have a good reason for your screen name :lmao: Way to go Boots :rotfl: Hope you are laughing, I'm not making fun

I can't read your post---just sounds soo painful!

I hope your foot gets better and they saved you from getting any infections.

Ouch--just OUCH!!!

:(

You poor thing. I almost got queasy just reading your post!! I'm in East Tennessee too  ........hope that nail wasn't at my DS's Preschool!

Ouch! I feel your pain! I stepped on a nail when I was 7 months pregnant with my DD. Not fun! I got a tetnus shot too. I still can't believe it went all the way through my Berkenstocks and into my foot. I have a scar from it still (7 years ago). Mine bled and bled though, got it all over the carpet.

That sounds very painful! I hope you feel better soon! :goodvibes :goodvibes

I feel your pain! Well, I did. Your doctor is right, I had a metal prong go right through my tennis shoe.

Good luck on your recovery! :goodvibes (And milk it. Milk it for all it is worth! ;) :))

OUCH! My dd did something similar last week. She ripped her foot open with a nail head that worked it's way back out of the deck. They packed hers with some sort of sulfur antibiotic cream for 3 days. Did they do something like that to fight off infection? Hers bled for two days so I guess it was a good thing because as long as the blood was oozing out the infection wasn't working in.
Hope you feel better soon! Did I say OUCH?!

:scared: Ouch!! Hope your foot is feeling better soon!

OUCH! I hope they gave you good pain meds and that the antibiotics keep you safe.

:scared1: :scared1: :scared1: YIKES! That's just awful! What part of your foot was it? I might have missed where you said that.

Puncture wounds are extremely serious.. That is how I ended up with gas gangrene in my right hand - accept in my case I had a puncture wound from a brand new screwdriver! Had I not seen a doctor when I did, I would have died within 24 hours.. As it was, they thought they were going to have to amputate my right hand, but I had an angel sitting on my shoulder during the emergency surgery and they just had to open my hand and cut out the dead tissue in three different places.. I've got some nasty scarring and some problems with that hand, but at least I still have it!! I was in the hospital quite awhile on IV's and then came home on a portable IV pump for a month..

The reason I am telling you this is that there is a "sign" you should look for that is very, very serious and requires an immediate trip to the ER - and when I say "immediate", I mean IMMEDIATE !! If you notice any swelling and when you touch it (like poking around on top of the swelling) and you hear a "noise" that sounds like a crackling - or someone walking on Rice Krispies - get to the hospital immediately!! As soon as the doctor touched the back of my hand (the puncture wound was in the palm) and heard that "noise", he went beserk and all heck broke loose.. That's when I was rushed to the hospital for emergency surgery - with him following right behind me..

I'm not trying to scare you, just "inform" you.. I never would have known that was an indication of a serious problem and if I had put off going to the doctor that morning, I would have been dead by the next morning - my anniversary.. :(

I'm sure that you will be fine.. Just pay close attention to how your foot is feeling and what it looks like.. Last year my neighbor up here at the lake did the same thing - was walking in flip flops, stepped on a nail that was sticking up from a piece of wood and both the wood and the flip flop were nailed to the bottom of her foot.. Ouch!!!!!!!

Hope you feel better soon! :grouphug:

Ikes! That hurts just thinking about it! I hope it heals quickly and doesn't leave a scar.

Ugh! I also did this when I was a child. It didn't go quite as far in, but it did go into my foot. A nice big rusty nail.

But my mom just pulled it out, let me bleed for a few minutes, used some medicine and bandaged me up. Never went to the doctor or anything. She just watched it fora a couple days to make sure everything was ok.
Hey! Maybe that's what stunted my growth! :rotfl:
