Step right up to September No Buy!

Last night was our 5th dating anniversary and DF surprised me with a dinner in the dark! There's a restaurant in Toronto that has a dining room that is totally immersed in darkness, served by blind wait staff. It was quite an experience. And instead of ordering off their menu, you can get surprise items which is what I did.

The restaurant is all about giving people the experience of being blind as well as providing jobs for the blind. I would high recommend this kind of experience. The food was really good too!

Buffy, that's so cool that you get that much for bottle redemption! We don't have something like that up here. Most people have their own water bottles anyways.

Mom, that totally sucks!

Kayla, Awolnation how cool!

Still home sick. I hate calling off work but I am sure no one wants me coughing and sneezing all over everything.

My goals are:

2 nights eating out dinner
Only 1 lunch out per week
12 No buy days

9/1- $116.68 Groceries (I should be stocked up for the next two weeks) and $5 Dairy Queen
9/2- $41 Brunch at Mon Ami Winery, $5.60 in the gift shop, $11.90 fresh produce, and $5.51 save a lot
9/3- $0
9/4- $45.89 Target and $15.45 Gas
9/5- $0
9/6- $0

You ever have the feeling that when it rains it pours; well we've been under a deluge for the past couple of months. Almost every week over the summer, we had some sort of issue with our cars ... so this morning my bf went to start the car and nothing happened. He couldn't find his key this morning, so he grabbed the spare, and then it wouldn't start.

Turns out, the spare triggered a security feature, which locked up the car. It won't start. We found this out after having it towed to the mechanics. Oh, and of course, the key that will start the car seems to have up and walked out the doorr. I wish I was joking.

9/1 - $290 Target (clothes and room things for dd) $50 gas
9/2 - Disney!
9/3 - Disney!
9/4 - $13 at Target for pens and highlighters () and $4 at walmart for deodorant. Things to learn, even though I've lived here my whole life ... deodorant melts in the car when you leave your last stick in to go to the parks for the day. I know that $13 is kinda insane for pens, and I laughed at myself but I bought specific color coded pens to try to manage all of our crazy schedules (bf works two jobs, we're both in school full time, and dd is in a ton of activities). I want to go back to Disney just thinking about this, lol.
9/5 - $0 for me! Bf stopped at the liquor store, however, and spent $60, $16 at walmart (and he can't remember on what), $20 at chick fil a, and $5 on a pack of cigarettes. Apparently by putting us on a budget, all I really did was tell him to spend as much as possible. UGH
9/6 - At least $50 for the new key ... lawd

Oh my gosh....why would the spare key lock it up???? You should look into that, it doesn't seem right. I think you need one of these

I went to Wal-Mart last night bought all the essentials (I was doing GREAT) and then my DD4 had to have that Dream Light she was talking about for months...$30. Geeee! I was so annoyed I bought it, but whatever. Gah!

9/5 - $29.99 + tax (Dream Light)
9/6 - $0

I am in again. I didn't do as well in Aug. as I had hoped. The kids needed more stuff to get ready for school then I realized. I will be working on my sept. budget tonight and will post my goals.

It is a hard month for me even to identify a target. "NO dumb spends" is pretty close. Plus, I want to see how much of my $80 allowance I can still have in my pocket at the end of the month.

I am exempting a trip to Orlando for a wedding.

Hooray! 6 no spend days in a row here.

Total so far:
dumb spends: 0 spends, 0$

We inherited this car from his dad, and it's been nothing but trouble since we got it. We think his dad had a key made for the car, so the new key got a new code ... and that he then found the other key and told us it was a spare key. So, what he told us was a spare was really just an old key that would make the car undriveable.

We left the car over night to have the guy look at it, because we're planning on going to the keys next weekend ... it's a 16 hour round trip drive, or a 2 hour flight (round trip). Flights have been close to $500, but they just dropped to $315. Gas would be almost $200 (according to AAA) so I'm thinking about doing the very non-budget thing and booking the flights. Maybe I'll list the car today while dear bf is at work, and unload it, lol.

9/5 - $29.99 + tax (Dream Light)
9/6 - $5 in magazines downloaded to my Nook
9/7 -

I'm feeling pretty on track with my No buys so far. And I haven't gone over budget yet....so let's keep this up!

I know I'll be going to a bridal show this weekend and that will cost me $12. We'll also be eating out...so let's keep that number $20 and under!

I'm really looking forward to sleeping in tomorrow. I've been working overtime on Saturday for the last couple of weeks but our systems will be down this weekend. Sleeping-in...I wonder what that's like.

I didn't spend any money today. But I priced out the bowling alley for DS's birthday next month and the party is going to be over $250 plus the cost of cake and tip to the party host  Unfortunately there really aren't many places to have a party here and DS has his mind set on bowling, so I guess that's going to be that. We had a bowling party a few years ago and I don't remember it being anywhere close to that price.
